Long live Comrade Gritty!

Next, we get into our topic of the week - Sprinter! Sprinter is a heartfelt, wonderfully written film that provides invaluable insight into the ways in which immigration impacts families. Rob shares lots of wonderful insights, including his inspiration for the film and favorite scene to write. We also talk about the powerful portrayal of West Indian culture, as well as the brilliant use of Jamaica as a beautiful backdrop to the story. We celebrate the film for bucking tired tropes of plots driven by Black pain and death. We also get into memorable characters, such as Kerry and Germaine and close it out with a bit of thirst.

Welcome back, squirrel friends! Our deep dive into Season 12 of RuPaul's Drag Race continues.

01:41 Snatch Game!
We continue our journey through Drag Race herstory by discussing memorable past performances by Bianca Del Rio (Season 6) and Tatianna (Season 2). Jocelyn extends her deepest apologies for having a complete brain fart and forgetting that Bob the Drag Queen knocked it out of the park in Season 8 as both Uzo Aduba and Carol Channing. We then get into the Season 12 performances. As longtime fans of the Housewives franchise, we really enjoyed Jackie Cox as Lisa Rinna. Heidi was also lots of fun as Leslie Jones.

38:28 Madonna Rusical!
Thanks to Jocelyn's mic snafu, we were able to watch the Rusical episode before recording the second half of our discussion. We are happy to report that Kristine, the Drag Race newbie, enjoyed her very first Rusical. We both agreed that it felt a bit long at times, but the episode was entertaining nonetheless. We took exception to Jaida not being in the Top 3. We were happy to see her work through the nerves and serve up a sexy performance. We saluted the the return of Jamal Sims and share our thoughts on the night of 1,000 Michelle Visages theme.

1:18:30 LEWKS!!!
Kristine is loving the fashions this seasons, so it should come as no surprise that she had more than one favorite look to share. Jocelyn can NEVER settle on one pick, so she had multiple favorite looks too. One thing is clear, Gigi and Jaida are SERVING this season and we are loving every second of it.

1:37:07 Best Lip Sync for Your Life
It's Drag Race, so of course we discuss the Lip Sync for Your Life face-offs. As of the Rusical, we were still waiting for the performance that knocked our socks off, but the potential is clearly there. We're keeping an eye on The Widow Von'Du. We don't want to see her in the bottom, but there is no question that she is a lip sync assassin in the making. We also chat about some past memorable lip syncs from the show.

1:46:02 Top Contenders and Season 12 Favorites
We get into our top contenders as of the Rusical episode. Gigi Goode is emerging as the queen to beat. We are a little frustrated that Jaida does not get more love from the judges. She should be a clear frontrunner, but the show seems to suggest otherwise based on her placement in challenges. And then there are the queens we love and don't want to see leave - Heidi and The Widow. We also talk about which eliminated queen we'd like to see return.

2:13:33 Narrator of the Season
Each season, a few queens shine in their confessional interviews and give life to all of the drama and competition. The Widow Von'Du is one of the funniest narrators to emerge on the show in a long time and we cannot imagine what an episode would be like without her wit and shade. Not to be outdone, Heidi has also proven to be a force in the confessionals and we would truly miss her voice if she was eliminated.

02:21:04 Thirsty Thoughts
You know we would not close out an episode without talking about the contestants who trigger our thirstiest thoughts.

Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @MoreWinePod!

Fleabag may have moved on, but we are still at the bus stop working through our feelings about the award winning series. Also, Jocelyn apparently has very strong feelings about Todd Bridges and cannot resist the urge to add an -s to Phoebe’s last name - hence the title of the episode.

INTRO-37:55
Our conversation continues with a discussion about the scenes that we liked and those we did not like. As with the first part of our discussion, our good sis Fleabag inspired us to be open and vulnerable about our own feelings and experiences. In a series as great as “Fleabag,” there are not really scenes that we did not like in terms of writing, it’s more about scenes that make us uncomfortable or strike an emotional chord in all the right ways. No discussion about “Fleabag” would be complete without the bus stop and a terrifying trip to the hairdresser with Claire.

37:56-01:17:03
Speaking of Claire, we continue to chat about our favorite uptight sister as we move on to discuss our favorite characters. We also shared our love for Belinda and the Hot Priest. It should come as no surprise that we agree that Martin is the worst, but he was not the only character we disliked.

01:17:04-01:33:49
Next, we explore the relationship between Fleabag, her father, and cigarettes as we chat about our favorite character arcs. We also discuss our connection to Claire’s stoicism and celebrate her decision to finally enjoy some well deserved happiness at the end of the series.

01:33:50-END
The discussion wraps with some fun fox speculation and a preview of the next episode.

Content/Trigger Warning: This series focuses largely on the main character grappling with the suicide of her best friend. As such, our discussion will also touch on this topic as well. We endeavor to handle all topics with care, but also want to alert you to this sensitive content in advance. The number for the National Suicide Hotline in the US is 1-800-273-8255.
