“Very weird joke record presumably given out at some sort of RSO Records Christmas Party in 1978. The track listings, titles, and credits are for the most part unreliable in-jokes with numerous RSO associates credited as well as folks like "Rev. Jimmy Jones," "The Gibblet Brothers", and even Mavis Staples. In addition to the long spoken "humorous" part, there are parodies of Bee Gees songs including "I Started A Joke" and "Holiday", with new lyrics telling a preposterous version of the Stigwood story. Presumably this was recorded on August 7, 1978, at Criteria. ⁣ ⁣

The label reads "The Stigwood Orchestra Plays 1001 Golden Memories For You" and lists this as "Vol. 15", but these are more jokes and bear no relation to the contents of the record.”⁣ ⁣

So basically it’s a Christmas gift for Robert Stigwood featuring his cohorts roasting him. Clearly made by a bunch of (allegedly) coked up record executives. It is filled with company in-jokes, but some of them work today if you know your RSO Records and Robert Stigwood history. I promised on my Instagram I would digitize it and make it available, so here it is!

This week we celebrate the passing of the legendary JOEY RAMONE. We take a look at some of the EARLIEST Manhattan Public Access television I've ever seen, look at some classic Public Access including "Glenn O'Brien's TV Party," you'll see that I might get banned from TikTok for cyberbullying, but most importantly, we're visited by the DOG POLICE.

We are 37 episodes in to this show that I've been doing from my apartment during the pandemic. Monday it will be 14 days since my wife and I got vaccinated and is this show going to stop?! NO! I'm going out into the world to make it even BETTER! Carefully out into the world. I'm probably not gonna leave the house much still. I never really left the house that much before the pandemic!

Let me set the scene for you. It's 1997. Alternative rock radio is playing things like Third Eye Blind's, "Semi-Charmed-Life," Sugar Ray's "Fly," and a song I'm sure you've never heard before, "Everlong" by the Foo Fighters. 

On October 15th, 1996, Matador/Capitol Records released "Now I Got Worry" by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. It was their follow-up to "Orange"   which contains "Bellbottoms" (which a new generation knows as that awesome song from Edgar Wright's, "Baby Driver.") 

I was good pals with JSBX drummer Russell Simins back in the 90's. I'll talk about it a bit more on this week's episode of I DID THIS FIRST! Russell was like a cool older brother and for my birthday one year, I believe my 19th, he gave me copies of "Exile on Main St.," "#1 Record" and "Here Come The Warm Jets." To say he helped send me down the right path would be putting it mildly. 

Were The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion getting a ton of radio airplay in 1997? Were they on MTV beyond 120 Minutes? No. To give you further perspective, "Spiceworld" the second album from The Spice Girls came out a few weeks after "Now I Got Worry." 

The 90's were a strange time. While I was at opening night of the film "Spice World" with a bunch of friends and even once attended a Spice Girls concert at Madison Square Garden (Ginger had already left), by that time I had also probably seen The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion play I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY TIMES on the East Coast. 

I'll let myself do the talking here, but you're about to push play on a very RARE live radio performance by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion that hasn't been heard since 1997. I only got a copy of it myself over the weekend. 

Radio is a very disposable medium. This is something I thought was lost FOREVER. I'm not sure he wants to be identified, but thanks to the man who was smart enough to run a DAT player in 1997 and nice enough to get it working again in 2020. 

Enjoy this piece of my 90s archive. I've got a few more things to share from my time in radio. In the meantime I think it goes without saying this is TO BE PLAYED AT MAXIMUM VOLUME.

It's a brand new episode of I DID THIS FIRST! and this week, I'm doing whatever the hell I want! 

I came across a YouTube channel of Dad's who support their children listening to Billie Eilish. I happen to think she's super talented and so does my wife. We don't have any children, but apparently there's a group of dads out there who get together and really love their kids and appreciate their fandom. It's a little odd but sweet! You'll see it!

You're going to see some clips from "Comedy Off Central" which served as a backdoor pilot to bring "SQUIRT TV" to Comedy Central. They gave me an hour special. You'll see the full special on this Patreon at some point, but this is a look at what "SQUiRT TV" might have looked like on Comedy Central. Looking back, I actually like the style better.

You'll also hear the first time I ever appeared on "The Howard Stern Show" when I was only THIRTEEN. 

Also, just some geneal stupidity that has nothing to do with my past. I'm fucking around this week and you're going to love it because I AM A PROFESSIONAL.

In this episode, I share a little bit of detail of HOW it actually happened. You’ll see the first time I appeared on MTV, which was as a “WEEK IN ROCK” MTV News story.

Also, a bit about how SQUiRT TV on MTV ended. It wasn’t cancelled! A path to sobriety began by NOT doing a second season which not only changed my life, but saved my life.

What was an unhappy ending at seventeen years-old, turned into a bit of redemption when in 2005, I managed to sell a show back to MTV about how I used to have a show on MTV. You’ll see a bit of that pilot, one I knew was NEVER going to series, but was a lot of fun to make and provided me a sense of closure on that chapter of my life.

I will share the full pilot for “Ten Years Later” on the Patreon for our BONUS PODCAST subscribers in December! My wife watched it today for the first time and she thought I should definitely share it with all of you.

Also, what’s the deal with the phone number I had on the bottom of the screen on old “SQUiRT TV” Public Access episodes. You’ll hear some of the original voicemails I would get and play at the end of each week’s episode. They’re hilarious.

There is much I discuss in this commentary, including some really cool photos of former LA punk venue The Masque which exists in Hollywood, pretty much untouched as a time capsule. I was lucky enough to be able to visit The Masque last year and my friend Megan Koester brought her camera. We have some amazing photos and I will share them with you in a supplemental post this week on the Patreon. 

I am not the be all, end all, scholar of punk rock or the LA punk scene as it was in 1980. I am just a guy who knows some things and have talked to some people. I actually encourage you to read some books and watch some other films in this commentary track. 

Penelope Spheeris' "Decline" series is an important part of pop culture history. She captured he Los Angeles underground as she saw at three very different times. This was how she saw it in May through December of 1980.

I am friends with the Froman family. They reached out to me because they saw people were making jokes on Twitter about their deceased father and they wanted to make it clear that he had had NO connection to the Russian "Sausage King" who was killed in a sauna with a crossbow. The jokes were hurtful. I sent out a tweet asking people to stop because I've known the Froman's to be good, hard working, decent people from Shermer, Illinois.

I cannot reveal my source, but immediately upon tweeting out a message of support for the Froman family, I was provided with hundreds of pages of documents and quite frankly, they were shocking. There appears to be a connection between Abe Froman, "the Sausage King of Chicago" and Vladimir Marugov, the Russian "Sausage King."

I have made this short audio FREE to all because I find it very suspicious this is all happening the day before the election. Please understand, I do not have a news team and I am going through these documents all by myself. The first documents that caught my eye were Abe Froman being involved with helping to promote Billy Joel's historic concerts in the former Soviet Union in 1987. There are some checks I've seen copies of and the numbers don't add up. There is also possible ties to the KGB. 

I do not think Billy Joel is involved with this directly, but I would appreciate if I could speak with him about this directly. I'd also like to do a separate interview with him about his music, but really just his classical stuff. 

The point is this: on the day before an important election, I have discovered evidence between Abe Froman and Russia going back to the 80's. Does this have any impact on our current political landscape? I can't say for sure. 

I will continue to go through the documents, I will provide a full update on my I DID THIS FIRST! show this week for my Patreon subscribers.

I’m sharing with you a historic bit of KFOG-FM history this week. First, you’ll hear a special intro from me as I play a song for my new wife! After that, an 11/1/83 broadcast from KFOG-FM featuring a short-lived disc jockey named FRANK KNIFE. At this point, KFOG-FM was a New Wave station, but Frank clearly wasn’t happy with both the music he was being forced to play and also his life decisions.

Unbeknownst to Frank, this would be his last broadcast as KFOG-FM changed to a CLASSIC ROCK format mid-day. You’ll hear the whole thing go down and the first appearance of legendary DJ, JIM LUGGAGE!

Today is October 11th, 2020. 46 years ago tonight a new late-night program debuted called "NBC's Saturday Night." George Carlin was the host with musical guests Billy Preston and Janis Ian. That has NOTHING to do with this week's radio show, except for a couple of SNL cast members later starred in FILMS OF THE 1980s! That's what our show is today.

If you follow me on Instagram you no doubt have seen some of my massive collection of 80's soundtrack albums. Most are on vinyl, some are on cassette. At some point in the future, maybe I'll share with Patreon members a complete list of all my soundtracks. 

I keep my Discogs profile private because I don't want weirdos contacting me saying, "Hey, you know that promo 45 you have Alyssa Milano's 'Teen Steam' issued by J2 Communications? I'll buy it off you!" The answer is NO, it's not for sale! I looked forever for that thing and I don't want any of the 22 people who have it in their Wantlist bugging me about it! I should play it on KFOG sometime though!

Today's broadcast is one I could a zillion of! All songs from 80's soundtracks. For this first edition, I stuck mostly to the hits. I couldn't resist choosing a deep track from the "Ghostbusters" soundtrack though.

The film is currently out-of-print, but Kino-Lorber is scheduled to release a new Blu-ray in 2021. The film is NOT available to stream at this time, but I have provided audio in the background for those of you who don't have a copy of the film. 

This is not a particularly funny commentary, but more of a celebration of the film and some historical background on what happened to it. "Times Square" was meant to do for New Wave what "Saturday Night Fever" did for Disco. That's not exactly how things turned out. At all.

This article doesn't tell you anything CLOSE to the full story and what happened to this film. It is purely a producer on the film's POV. There is much more to say and this was the best way I could think to do it.

"Times Square" is a film I have screened many times in theatres on 35mm. To my knowledge, there's only TWO American language 35mm prints still in existence and the quality of them is fading. I would love to be celebrating the 40th Anniversary of "Times Square" in a movie theatre, but that's not something we can do right now. We'll make due and this should be a lot of fun.

If you have never seen "Times Square" I wish there was a way I could share it with you now, but I have a feeling if you're a VIP Patron to ME? You have seen "Times Square."  So here it is, 40 years later, a look back at a film that really influenced me and an examination of why it wasn't a critical or commercial success.

I think there's a small amount of people who are going to say, "I must own this film," after experiencing "Voyage Of The Rock Aliens," but for those people, there's your Amazon link!

In this commentary track, I try to figure out: what happened to this movie about New Wave aliens coming to earth starring Pia Zadora and why did I only discover it LAST YEAR?! Who made it? Why? Did it ever have a theatrical release? This is truly me going down a rabbit hole trying to figure out what I can about this movie.

Unlike the previous commentaries I've done, this is less "let's have fun and watch the movie together" and more, "listen to Jake fall down a rabbit hole trying to figure out what the fuck happened?"

I personally think "Voyage Of The Rock Aliens" is a lot of fun. I understand why perhaps in 1984, it didn't hit commercially. Kind of hard to compete with "Ghostbusters," "Beverly Hills Cop" and "Purple Rain." Anyway, if you're looking for the very specific thoughts of a man trying to understand why this movie about New Wave aliens fighting Rockabilly dudes on a beach starring Pia Zadora didn't hit my radar until 2019, you've got 90 minutes ahead of you that you're really going to enjoy!

Really encourage you to watch at least some of the film before listening to the commentary track. You could also just dive right in and enjoy a puzzled man going through old newspaper articles,, trying to piece together the story behind the movie, "Voyage Of The Rock Aliens."

Welcome to ROCKTOBER. Brand new episode of I DID THIS FIRST! and it's coming to you with BETTER AUDIO! In Stereo (Where Available). Since I'm now releasing a PODCAST version of the show at the same time as the video version, I figured let's try and improve the sound quality. Nothing beats the SHURE SM-58's and lord knows, I've got 'em

There's a brand new FULL EPISODE OF SQUIRT TV as it originally aired on Public Access up for our $10 Patrons. It's from March 5th, 1995 (I think) and it features WEEN coming to my bedroom. They were the first band to ever come to my house. This was before MTV!

You'll see a little of that, but I actually skip ahead a few weeks to a few episodes later. You'll see me just hosting the show and a live in-store appearance of Ween performing, "Freedom of '76."

Also, New Wave Dave is back and he's sent me another music video. He has not agreed to an interview yet, but he told me if I show the video for his song "Don't Do Crime," he would consider it. It's really... something.

A lot of people have been claiming that I'm New Wave Dave. I'm not. It's very similar to how people confuse me and rock icon Billy Idol all the time. I take a moment to address this and hopefully put these foolish rumors to bed.

I hope you're digging the I DID THIS FIRST! shows. There's a lot of BONUS PODCASTS at the higher tiers, along with AUDIO COMMENTARIES (you get a new one this weekend), but I don't want this show to feel like a commercial for the other stuff. This is an interesting piece of radio history. I'm sure many of you are familiar with Radio Caroline, the British PIRATE RADIO station that operated starting in 1964. They were a direct answer to the stuff BBC radio programming, playing rock music and generally giving the youth culture of the UK what they WANTED to hear. 

What you're going to hear is about 45 minutes of SKIP "THE AMERICAN" DAVIS who was a Radio Caroline disc jockey for exactly 45 minutes. When you listen to the aircheck I think it will become clear why. 

Apparently Skip worked as "WMCA Good Guy" in New York City for two weeks, but it didn't go well. The reasons for why he lost his job are murky. It's very possible he was fired because he was caught in a raid in a gay bar (keep in mind this was 1967/1968), or he just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Either way, it's a sad story and radio was on the wrong side of history, as it so often is.

Or it could be that Skip was just a TERRIBLE DISC JOCKEY.

I have searched extensively online and there is not much known about his life after this broadcast. There is one particularly disturbing moment in the broadcast that leads me to believe that he does NOT want to be found.

This is a HUGE episode. I actually held some stuff back because it was gonna go over an hour and I know people are still catching up with the episodes! By the way, you don't have to watch these in any particular order unless you want to! You could watch this week's episode and circle back to an older one anytime. I can understand if people want to watch in order. Who wants to be confused by the well-crafted story elements?!

This week on the show, we travel back to April, '95 when I visited Los Angeles and SPIKE JONZE taught me how to direct music videos. You'll see a full behind the scenes and the first music video I ever directed! 

You're not going to believe this, but I was actually contacted by NEW WAVE DAVE. He sent over his new music video and told me if I showed it, he might agree to come on the show. You may have already seen the music video on social media, but it definitely left me with even MORE questions about New Wave Dave.

I'll tell you about how I spent Yom Kippur: watching a four-hour Japanese film. It is rare that I walk away from a TWO-HOUR MOVIE and think, "Eh, they could've probably cut that scene and moved the story along faster." I wouldn't cut a single MINUTE out of the film Deb and I watched this week during Yom Kippur. It's from one of my new favorite directors and Deb gets full credit for introducing me to his work. 

For those of you who don't get the Bonus Content at the higher tiers, I've shared a little clip from a recent podcast. It's tape of a DJ from 1974 and he is TERRIBLE. Just the worst human being.

Also, I reveal the name of a celebrity who borrowed a DVD from me three years ago and has yet to return it. Please, as a member of this Patreon keep the sacred oath that you will NOT bother this celebrity online or reveal who it is to the general public. WHen you watch the show, you'll see it was my fault for loaning it out in the first place. I knew the chances of ever seeing it again were 50/50! I also want to see if they EVER remember and get back in touch with me. 

This is the last show of September. Next month, it's ROCKTOBER and I've got some pretty exciting things planned! Basically, I've got TOO much stuff I want to do here and I want to find the balance between bombarding you with content and also giving you a chance to enjoy what's already here. My thought is to keep making stuff! You can always go back and check stuff out at your own pace. Think of this Patreon like Amazon or Netflix, only it just features stuff created by Jake Fogelnest. 

I don't have nearly as many subscribers as Netflix, but I think if I keep making PROFESSIONAL DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT I could catch up to them in subscribers! As we enter a new month, we've got a new AUDIO COMMENTARY to decide on and I will share another FULL EPISODE OF "SQUiRT TV" AS IT ORIGINALLY AIRED. Here's this week's episode of "I DID THIS FIRST!"  I decided to share something from the 18th episode of "SQUIRT TV," which is really just me goofing around and doing a segment called "Tormenting Grandma." It's before the show became a "cult-hit," but people were just starting to tune in. Really just me being a teenager and messing around with a TV show out of my bedroom.

Here's this week's episode of "I DID THIS FIRST!" This is a fun one because it features one of my favorite moments from "SQUiRT TV" history: Gilbert Gottfried coming to my bedroom and just taking over the show. This clip actually NEVER AIRED. Unless you happened to work at MTV in the 90's, this is truly never before seen footage. 

Before "SQUIRT TV" became "SQUIRT TV on MTV" we shot three pilot episodes. Some of the stuff from those pilots made it to MTV, some of it didn't. This was deemed "too much" in 1996. Also, it was before MTV gave me a budget to "art-direct" my bedroom so it wouldn't match the look of the broadcasted show. 

When you're sixteen and MTV gives you a budget to "art-direct" your bedroom, you are going to say, THANK YOU! By the time I was done "art-directing" my bedroom, it looked like we were shooting in a TV studio, like the joke in "Wayne's World." I swear, IT WAS MY ACTUAL BEDROOM. All we did was flip the camera angle. 

Anyway, this clip of me and Gilbert was delightfully offensive in 1995. In 2020, I look forward to being "cancelled" for it. Notice I said NOTHING - it was all Gilbert. I can assure you, I was not traumatized by this incident. I'll tell you right now: Gilbert is making fun of what it looks like for him to be "in bed with a little boy." The joke is obviously at his expense. If I have to explain that further, I quit show business. 

Also, I would like to state for the record: I HAVE NEVER EVEN MET THAT COMEDIAN. WHICHEVER COMEDIAN IT IS THIS WEEK THAT'S IN TROUBLE FOR BEING DISGUSTING. Maybe I've been in the same room with him, but to the best of my knowledge, there are no sex pests in my inner circle. If I find out there are, it's very simple: they're OUT.  

We also introduce a new segment on "I DID THIS FIRST!" called JAKE FOGELNEST TALKS ABOUT ALBERT BROOKS. 

There's some cool LA punk stuff in the show, a music video I directed that I'm very proud of (which steals from both Albert Brooks and William Castle) and I found a REALLY funny clip of a dude trying to play R.E.M. on his guitar, but he's barely competent. The guy probably picked up the guitar for the first time as the pandemic hit and now thinks he's ready to "join a band,"

This has been a super fun first four weeks on Patreon! This is pretty good right? $5 a month, you get a new TV show every week! This one is a little shorter, but they will never be less than 30 minutes. I've got too much stuff I wanna share from the past and too much stuff I want to say right now.

 It's very possible one week an episode might end up being 90 minutes, but I feel like that would be annoying. How many shows do you have to watch as it is? I'm just trying to make something good each week! I hope you've been digging it. Tell me in the comments what other stuff you'd like to see!

In September, there's another FULL EPISODE of "SQUIRT TV" going up at the $10 tier. Right now for ten bucks there's three radio shows, an hour-long comedy special, extra weird stuff and that's going to keep happening every week! The content is just going to keep piling up!

Before I share this week's playlist with you, I feel like you should know up front (and be warned) what you are about to hear. A history of some of the WORST disc jockeys to ever grace the airwaves. Not only were they untalented, they were bad people. On this show, you'll hear airchecks from:

MURRAY THE J - The so-called "eighth Beatle." this local Baltimore DJ was holding SEGREGATED dance parties for teens as late as 1970! This tape is kind of legendary amongst radio nerds because MURRAY THE J is actually quickly fired ON-AIR. Ironically, it wasn't his racist dance parties that got him fired, it was the fact that he mentioned seeing a "dirty movie." You'd think this would be the end to his career, but I've heard he's still doing overnights at a station in Boca Raton, Florida. If anyone has any more information on MURRAY THE J, I would love to hear about it. 

 TIM GARDNER - This clip comes from 1975 and i gotta admit, I applaud Tim for his honesty? Not many people would admit to committing a crime on the radio. Actually, TWO crimes. Tim worked in radio until about 1982, eventually dying from an overdose of quaaludes and Pine-Sol®. 

COUSIN LARRY - Not to be confused with COUSIN BRUCIE, this disc jockey was VERY angry when the television show "Perfect Strangers" began airing on ABC. This is just one of his on-air "freakouts," Not to spoil anything before you listen, but he was not successful in his litigation against ABC. Oddly he also died of an overdose of quaaludes and Pine-Sol®. 

DR. J and SCOTT STEELE - This is an on-air crossover from some point in the 80's between Quiet Storm disc jockey DR. J and SCOTT STEELE. You'll hear it, but in my opinion both of them sound like idiots arguing over their DJ names. Though, I have to wonder: hadn't DR. J seen "This Is Spinal Tap?" Bizarre radio moment. 

THE MONSTER - Yeah, this guy just sucks. 

Finally, I come in at the end and say a few words. Truly, some of the worst disc jockeys and some of their worst on-air moments from KFOG and other radio stations. All that being said, it's a very good eclectic playlist this week!

KFOG needs to be running 24/7 so I can break in LIVE whenever I want. Also, some of YOU need to be doing your own shows. It is technologically possible for me to live out every fantasy I had as a child watching "Pump Up The Volume." 

I was on the radio for over a DECADE! Sometimes I was picking the music myself, other times I was playing what they handed me and collecting a check. KFOG is all ME (for better or for worse). It's a personal mixtape from me to you every week. Speaking of mixtapes, we'll be kicking that up to the next level VERY soon. 

More talk based podcasts will be coming here VERY soon as well! I've got a TON of people who want to chat. I will NOT subject you to a FOUR-HOUR talk podcast every week, but I can't promise it won't go over an hour sometimes. Depends on the podcast project I'm doing! I've even got ideas for SCRIPTED audio things. I told you this was going to be my own personal streaming service! 

Straight up, I've missed broadcasting. Leaving Sirius XM was truly one of the hardest decisions I had to make in my life. At the same time, it was easy because I knew I needed to focus on my writing career (hey, that worked out pretty damn well!), but I was no longer interested in introducing records on the radio that I didn't select myself. 

Sirius XM even offered me the opportunity to stay on and do a talk show, music show - whatever I wanted. There simply weren't enough hours in the day to do it all. My priorities were really focused on writing for television and that was what I needed to do. Not only do I have ZERO regrets, I'm insanely grateful at how well things worked out. And they're STILL going well!! I'm not going to stop writing and producing for TV. I need to do that work too, not just for financial reasons, but because I truly love it. 

I just love THIS too and now I can do it again. Totally on my terms. The reason why? You're directly supporting me to do it. I will never let six years go by without doing some kind of SHOW again. 

With "The Fogelnest Files," I loved doing that show every week and my only regret is the way it just STOPPED. That was never my intention. Things got so hectic, I had to move back to New York for a period of time, I was NEW to writing for TV, bouncing from one show to the next  -- something just had to give. 

Also, "The Fogelnest Files" didn't COST me any money to make, but it didn't bring in ANY income for me PERSONALLY. All the ad revenue went to Earwolf. That was the deal I signed and I was 100% cool with it when I signed it. It was the right thing to do at the time. They took care of SO much for me on that podcast and I'm forever grateful to them for making it possible. I am sure many of you learned of my existence in the first place from that podcast! All the episodes are still available via Stitcher Premium. 

Will I work with one of the major podcast networks in the future on something? Probably. There's a few things I want to do that would require the help of a larger company. At the same time, I took a look around my apartment and realized, "I have everything I need to start broadcasting TOMORROW." I wanted to do THAT. I needed to do it. 

Patreon just made sense. I wanted to share the old stuff I owned from the 90s. (Little business tip as a side-note: ALWAYS  try to OWN your TV show if your cult-hit Public Access show gets picked up to a cable network during the mid-90's.) I also wanted to make NEW stuff and do it. NOW.  

I figured there had to be SOME people out there who wanted to sign up and get stuff from me directly! Thankfully, I was right. It would be great to see this Patreon grow, but I've really just gotten started! Now it's just a matter of continuing to make stuff and letting people know it's there for them.

I have a bunch of stuff I want to do that just doesn't require me going to a network or a studio and saying, "May I have $10-30 million dollars to produce my television or movie idea, please?"  First off, that's always a 50/50 gamble. I don't care who you are, they either say yes or no. And it's ALWAYS easier for them to say "no." Big deal, I'm used to that by now. As John Waters says, "A no is free."

I'm working on something now where they have said, "Eh, I don't know about the $10-30 million up front, but write something REALLY GOOD and we'll decide from there." It's an incredibly fortunate place to be, but it's not done yet. I've been putting everything I got into it! But even if magically they said "Yes" and we lived in a world with a vaccine, I don't EVER want to go this long again without doing little weird projects just for ME. (Also, they don't pay you until you finish writing the REALLY GOOD thing and that's actually SUPER HARD to do.)

Your support through Patreon allows me the freedom to do those little weird projects. Also, you seem to like the weird little projects! This is the place where i have the freedom to take an idea and just RUN WITH IT. Thank you SO much for helping me do that! It means the world to me. 

Today, I wanted to make a radio show and I did. 

I'm just gonna keep making stuff here that I think is fun. Obviously, I'd like to see the Patreon grow, but I think the key to that is to keep doing what I've always done since I was a kid: make stuff. 

I launched this thing on August 3rd and look at all the content that's gone up! I feel like I've only just begun to scratch the surface I've got ideas that I haven't even shared with you yet! STAY TUNED.

In my last audio commentary for "Rocketman" (2019) I made a lot of references to this film, so it seemed like the right one to do next. It's also something I've been talking about doing since the very early days of my old podcast, "The Fogelnest Files." There has been an ACTUAL demand for me to do a commentary track on this film for a long time. HERE IT IS!

As of today, September 13th, 2020, "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" appears to be streaming on Showtime. Otherwise, it's readily available to rent or buy on all the VOD platforms. I recommend the Blu-ray from Shout Factory! 

If you haven't seen this film, I really recommend watching it first and then listening with the commentary. At the same time, if you haven't seen the film, there is possibly some real entertainment value in me trying my best to describe the movie which will probably sound fucking insane and make you want to watch it even more.  

I am gifting this to anyone pledging at $5 or above because those of you at the $5 tier haven't heard the "Rocketman" commentary or any of the other bonus podcast stuff.

This is a tape I found at some point that's just labeled, "New Wave Dave 4-Track Demo 9/7/83." Since today is September 7th, I thought I would share it with everyone.  It's clearly some guy who called himself "New Wave Dave" doing a cover of the Sex Pistols "Silly Thing" using a pretty decent sounding 4-Track! Anyway, just thought it was an interesting artifact. 

I can assure you: this is NOT me messing around with GarageBand which I barely know how to use and my guitar which I've only been playing since the end of March. This is a real OLD tape I found! It's just like the "Jane & Beth" tape. Do NOT accuse me of being "New Wave Dave." It's simply not true. 

I am NOT some loser who would get bored, plug his guitar into his computer and mess around recording a song from "The Great Rock 'N' Roll Swindle." Come on! Even if I did, I certainly wouldn't upload it to my Patreon. That would be SO embarassing!!!  

Anyway, here's a tape of "New Wave Dave" (whoever that is) messing around with his (again, really good sounding) 4-Track in 1983. Also, check out that  link to "Jane & Beth" above that I just tweeted out again. Finding this "New Wave Dave" tape reminded me of "Jane & Beth." That tape is 100% real, you'll know as soon as you hear it. 

Look, I don't know why anyone would question the legitimacy of this "New Wave Dave" tape I'’m sharing. It's an old tape I found. IT'S NOT ME. STOP SAYING IT IS.

New radio show for this week! I gotta admit, I was a little frustrated. There were some technical issues and somehow the feed kept drifting to OTHER disc jockeys and in my opinion, they're aren't very good. The music the played was good. I can get behind the music. It was just the presentation of the music. 

All the more reason I'm interested in starting a 24/7 online radio station that I can program and also break into LIVE! In fact, some of you could break in LIVE as well and do your own radio shows. Why shouldn't KFOG be a reality? I'm looking into the best setup to get this going!
