First up, we have the captain of the San Diego Seals and PLL Chaos, Brodie Merrill. Brodie is now 38 years old but you wouldn't be able to tell it from the way he continues to excel at the game. He is also in the opinion of this show the greatest long pole of all time, having the LSM player of the year award in the PLL named after him, even while he is still an active player. We talk about the Seals early struggles, an unusual goaltending situation in the Seals last game, his work at the Hill Academy and reflect back on perhaps the game that meant the most to him, the 2006 ILF World Championship final.

From a massive upset in Long Island as the New York Riptide took down the Georgia Swarm, to the Rochester Knighthawks having a very different pair of results, to the Colorado Mammoth only scoring five times against the Vancouver Warriors and then lighting up the Saskatchewan Rush the next night. Because both expansion teams got their first win in franchise history, that's where we are focusing our attention this week.

First up is Holden Cattoni of the Rochester Knighthawks. Holden, a former Johns Hopkins star, was one of the first players to come out of Alberta's Elev8 program into the NCAA. Having played the 2018 season with the Calgary Roughnecks, Holden was then traded to Georgia in 2019 only to be surprisingly left unprotected in the expansion draft and was picked up with the 3rd overall pick by Rochester. We talk about the expansion draft and life with the Knighthawks, the growth of the team's offense and life outside of lacrosse living in the Washington D.C. area.

Next up is Dan Lomas of the New York Riptide. Much like Cattoni, Dan is now with his third team in three years, after being let go by the former Rochester Knighthawks and Vancouver Warriors, he has persevered and found a new home with the Riptide. We talk about life with the Riptide, the leadership of Dan MacRae and Dan's growth as a lacrosse player from High Point to the NLL.

We then put gambling in lacrosse in our G. Then we come full circle on Lacrosse Classified once again by having two guests on Season 2, Ep. 2 that we had on Season 1, Ep. 1, Peter Schmitz and Dave Succamore from the Professional Lacrosse Players Association. When we last had these two gentlemen on the program, there was significant doubt as to whether there would be a 2018-19 NLL season and we spoke with them for almost 50 minutes about what the issues with the CBA were. We are once again talking CBA with them as we are just 11 months away from the timeline for either the PLPA or the NLL giving notice that they want to exit from the current CBA to take effect in October/November 2021. They share some news on that front, as well as talk about the future growth of the game, what it will take to make players full time athletes, progress on workers compensation for players in Canada and improvements needed for the safety of the game.

We also introduce a new segment, Under Review, where we answer a listener's question, and this week we are asked, how many teams should the NLL cap the expansion movement at for now. Also, Jake loses another bet that will see him punished at a Rush game, the CLA has a new president and other news and notes.

Then, we speak with an expansion team from last year, the San Diego Seals, and their general manager and head coach, Patrick Merrill. Our first guest this week is the newly-appointed Deputy Commissioner and Executive Vice President of Business Affairs, Jessica Berman. While becoming the first ever female deputy commissioner in any North American professional sport, its Jessica's resume and experience that are exemplary. For the past 13 seasons, she has been the Vice President of Community Development, Culture and Growth for the NHL, which is a perfect fit for a growing league like the NLL. We speak to Jessica about what her role all entails, what excites her about the NLL and what needs to be done to help grow the game in markets where the NLL has struggled.

Our second guest was the recent playoff MVP of Major Series Lacrosse, Mark Matthews from the Peterborough Lakers, which is headed to the Mann Cup which starts this Friday. As Jake likes to call him, "The Mailman", Matthews was also the 2018 NLL MVP and has been the runner up many times with the Saskatchewan Rush. Matthews has also had a stellar season in the MLL with the Atlanta Blaze. We discuss changes to the lineup in Saskatchewan, what it is going to take for Peterborough to win the Mann Cup, and whether the cup is safe in Peterborough's hands.

First up, we speak get a big motivational speech from Andy Towers, head coach of Chaos Lacrosse Club in the Premier Lacrosse League. Chaos has become the favorite of most box lacrosse fans due to the large number of box players on the team. We discuss a number of key contributors on Chaos and the successes of the PLL this year.

Our first guest is the general manager of the Okotoks Raiders and assistant coach of the Colorado Mammoth, Andrew McBride. We discuss the Raiders recent success at the Minto — where they will face the Victoria Shamrocks in the semifinal tonight — as well as the hard road the Raiders had to take to get there. The Raiders are making their second semifinal appearance in a row at the Minto Cup.

Our second guest is Jason Crook, the head coach, general manager and team president — and whatever else he can cram in to his busy schedule — of the Calgary Jr. B Shamrocks. The Shamrocks won the Founders Cup over the Six Nations Rebels 16-15 in a nail-biter, after losing to the Rebels 19-3 the day before. It marks the first time in 10 years, and only the fourth time ever, the Founders Cup was not won by a team from Ontario.

First up is the head coach of the Orangeville Northmen and assistant coach of the Toronto Rock, Bruce Codd. Codd is also a long time NLL veteran, initially selected in the 9th round of the entry draft back in 1999, he played for seven teams including the Albany Attack, Columbus Landsharks, Montreal Express, Ottawa Rebel, Arizona Sting, Calgary Roughnecks and the Toronto Rock. Codd also answers one simple question, just how good is Rylan Hartley.

This week’s guests are both top prospects in the NLL Entry Draft coming up in September. First up is Ryland Rees of the Burnaby Lakers and Boston Cannons. The Stony Brook graduate who plays LSM in the fields game was a surprise major contributor in Canada’s effort at the 2018 FIL World Lacrosse Champsionships and was named to the all tournament team. He also won a Minto Cup last summer with the Coquitlam Adanacs. This summer Rees is performing double duty, flying from his home in British Columbia 7 hours to Boston to play for the Cannons to fly back to BC to play for Burnaby, who are in 1st place in the WLA at the moment. Rees also recently signed on as a sponsored athlete with our sponsor, Pure Vita Labs.
