I started this podcast because I wanted to something about a problem that I care about. 

That we're living in a way that will make it difficulat for people in the future to maybe breath clean air and live in a functioning eco system. It feels very important to do something about it, or at least try. 

I think it's something that we all think is important, on some level. To take care of our planet and make sure that those who come after also live a good life. So it's not a left-right issue. And I don't think it's an issue of who bears the responsability, if it's corporations or politians or individuals. Because we're all individuals and I think we can all do something. 

Something that worries me a bit is when I hear ideas that the solution is force and authoritarian state solutions. And then I think my message is that I don't think we need that. And I think that if we do go that route of force and authoritarian state solutions that we're not going to like it when we're there.

So I think it want to defend the free market and try to show how it can be the solution and not the problem. I think that economics or capitalism or whatever you want to call it, that it's not other than people trading goods and services with eachother. And that which people want is what corporations will give us. And that this is a very natural part of what it means to be human. And that it's something we've always done. And that problems really occur when we try to control these processes. So I think that if we want to see real change I think there has to be a change in people. In the way that we see ourselves and the world. That a part of being human is to take care of our planet and not to control and exploit it like we've thought for a long time. 

So if we can do this we will start to demand things that are sustainable. In everything from how our food is produced to the technology that we use. Companies would listen to their markets which would lead to them adapting and supplying those things.

And I think that if you use the political method of controlling people and to force us to live sustainably, I think you will create a lot of resistance in people, and you won't have achieved any real change. 

I think that telling someone that they can't fly or eat meat won't lead to them wanting to live sustainably and that you want to take care of your planet. But I think it would undermine the desire to steward that they do have. 

I do however think that there is something to be said about legislation and what we allow big corporations to do. But even here I think the problem is that law and order is to far away from the hands of the people. I think you can see this when you see how a multinational corporation want to build for example a serverhall in a country and they're able to play governments against eachother to see who can offer the most benefitial tax cuts or legislation about employee rights or environmental concerns. 

So the idea behind democracy is that the power should be with the people, but in cases like this it doesn't seem like it really is. 

So what I wanted to say was that let's take care of our planet and eachother but let's not do it at the expense of our liberty and sovereignty.

Paula kunde bland mycket annat belysa viktiga begränsningar i individens ansvar för att motverka miljöförstöring och pratade övertygande om hur vi måste få till storskalig förändring. Både för att få verklig effekt och för att kunna ta hand om vår oro för klimat och ekosystem.

We talked about how they got started and about the challenges of living sustainably but also how it can be quite enjoyable. I was happy to see that Sarah lives by her values and I came away from the conversation feeling even more committed to the sustainable lifestyle.

Unwrapped är Sveriges första förpackningsfria butik på nätet och grundades av vännerna Sarah och Hanna. Vi är två mammor som blev trötta på allt skräp vi producerade och ville göra något positivt av vår klimatångest.

Vi lanserade Unwrapped.se i juni 2019 för att vi vill göra det lättare och mer bekvämt för dig att minska ditt skräp. Bor du i vårt Stockholmsområde kan du handla i våra återanvändningsbaraförpackningar. Det går till så att du lånar förpackningarna som livsmedel och hygienprodukterna är packade i. Du lämnar sedan tillbaka förpackningarna som vi rengör och återanvänder till nästa kund. Hos oss hittar du mestadels ekologiska varor av väldigt bra kvalité.

Vi kan sedan ett par veckor tillbaka även leverera över hela Sverige men då packar vi i papperspåsar. Vi jobbar just nu på att lansera vårt cirkulära system över hela Sverige men för att kunna göra det måste vi hitta andra förpackningar. Så tillsvidare kan du som bor utanför Stockholmsområdet handla i papperspåsar och så skickar vi till ett postombud nära dig. Hör gärna av dig om du har några frågor!

Johan fick mig att tänka om mycket om hur vårat matsystem fungerar och hur det verkligen påverkar våran planet. Det är svårt att se hur det skulle kunna vara hållbart att vara så många människor samtidigt som vi bedriver ett jordbruk som utarmar jorden och sänker kvalitén på våran mat. Det finns en enorm dold kostnad som ingen riktigt behöver betala för än, utan den får nog framtida generationer stå för.

Johans passion för det här lyser verkligen igenom och det får iaf mig att vilja göra mer. Jag hoppas ni gillar det här samtalet lika mycket som jag gjorde.
