• Topic 1 - This Week in Disneyland history
• 1956:
• Disneyland debuts Tom Sawyer Island & the Rafts to Tom Sawyer Island in Frontierland, the film 3D Jamboree at the Mickey Mouse Club Theater, and the Storybook Land Canal Boats attraction in Fantasyland.
• Tom Sawyer Island (today known as Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island) is an artificial island surrounded by the Rivers of America and inspired by the works of Mark Twain. Guests visit the island by traveling on a motorized raft which is piloted by a Disneyland Cast Member. 
• The short 3D Jamboree features the famous Mouseketeers and their leader Jimmy Dodd. The presentation includes the animated shorts Melody and Working for Peanuts all in 3D. Storybook Land Canal Boats (originally known as Canal Boats of the World in 1955) features 13 boats (powered by outboard motors) afloat in 465,000 gallons of water.
• 1958:
• Disneyland's Columbia ship opens on the Rivers of America. It is a full-scale version of the first ship to carry the American flag around the world. It actually was built in large part from the plans for the HMS Bounty (of mutiny fame). Disney's shipbuilders couldn't find plans for the original Columbia, so they relied heavily on those of Captain Bligh's ship, which had similar dimensions. It has cost $300,000 to build. Fowler's Harbor (named after Admiral Joseph Fowler, who helped to build Disneyland) is also officially opened on this day to dock the new ship. A dedication ceremony takes place with Fowler and Walt Disney himself in attendance
• The Disneyland attraction Alice in Wonderland debuts in Fantasyland. Actress, Kathryn Beaumont, voice of Alice in the 1951 animated movie, provides the voice for the dark ride. It follows the path of the movie, as the riders (as Alice) follow the White Rabbit down the Rabbit Hole into Wonderland. Disneyland's first "Alice" attraction - Mad Tea Party (a spinning tea cup ride), has been operating since the park's debut in July 1955
• 1959:
• Three major attractions are christened at Disneyland on this day:
• The first urban monorail system in the U.S., the Disneyland-Alweg Monorail System, begins operation in California's Disneyland. The two Mark I trains run on a .8 mile track around Tomorrowland. Walt Disney and U.S. Vice president Nixon and their families are on hand for the dedication of the "Highway in the Sky." (In June 1961, the Monorail will become a true transportation link instead of just a sightseeing ride. With an extended 2 1/2 mile track, Disneyland Hotel guests will be able to board the Monorail at the hotel and begin their park visit in Tomorrowland.)
• Also on this day at Disneyland, the Matterhorn Mountain with its Matterhorn Bobsleds, opens. Modeled after the Matterhorn, a real mountain in the Swiss Alps, it is the first roller coaster to use cylindrical rails and urethane wheels (which will become standard in the roller coaster industry). At 147 feet tall, the Matterhorn contains 500 tons of structural steel. The ride consists of two separate tracks that run somewhat parallel to each other for much of the ride, intertwining and eventually deviating from each other at the loading areas.
• The Submarine Voyage ride is officially dedicated on this day as well in Tomorrowland (although it has has been open since June 6). The attraction has cost about $2.5 million to create. The Nautilus and 7 sister submarines - the Triton, Sea Wolf, Skate, Skipjack, George Washington, Patrick Henry, and Ethan Allen allow 38 Disneyland guests at a time to take their own voyage to the North Pole. For the dedication of the new Submarine Voyage attraction the opening ceremonies feature eight live mermaids performing a synchronized swimming ballet in the lagoon.Mrs. Mildred Nelson, wife of the chief machinist on the the first nuclear-powered submarine, USS Nautilus,helps Walt Disney christen the sub D-301, appropriately named Nautilus. 
• Also taking place at 1:30 is a special dedication parade specifically designedfor this day's festivities. The parade and all the day's events are filmed for an ABC television special to be titled Kodak Presents Disneyland ’59.
• 1967:
• The Club 33 restaurant (for members-only) opens at 33 Royal Street, in New Orleans Square at Disneyland. It is comprised of two dining rooms and several adjoining areas, all of which hold a wide array of magnificent antiques and original works of art. A secret feature of the theme park, the entrance of the private club is located next to the Blue Bayou Restaurant at "33 Royal Street" with the entrance recognizable by an ornate address plate with the number 33 engraved on it.
• 1971:
• The All American College Band performs for the very first time at Disneyland.  The All-American College Band, made up of musicians from colleges all across the United States, will perform for 11 weeks throughout the summer (and become a yearly tradition).
• 1972:
• The Main Street Electric Parade kicks off at Disneyland for the very first time. The floats include the Blue Fairy, Casey Junior Circus Train, Alice In Wonderland, Chinese Dragon, Dumbo’s Circus, Cinderella’s Ball, "it’s a small world", and the American Finale.
• 1974:
• Disney World’s "Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue" dinner show debuts in Pioneer Hall at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. Created as a college workshop summer production only, guest response will be so positive that Walt Disney World entertainment will continue the show with a permanent professional cast at the end of the 1974 summer! 
• 1975:
• Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln returns to Disneyland after being replaced in 1973 with The Walt Disney Story.
• 1983:
• The Disneyland parade Flights of Fantasy, which celebrates the opening of the New Fantasyland, debuts.
• 1999:
• Disney's animated feature Tarzan premieres in the U.S. at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood
• The computer controlled sign that welcomes guests to the main entrance of Disneyland's parking lot is removed. Its site will be absorbed into the new California Adventure area. (This is only the second sign to greet guests as they entered Disneyland in the park's 44 year history. The original marquee, erected in 1958, had letters that had to be changed by hand!)
•  Disney's 37th animated feature Tarzan is generally released in the U.S.
• 2010:
• Toy Story 3 has its worldwide premiere at Taormina Film Fest in Italy. (It will premiere in the U.S. the following day.)
• 2012:
• An expanded and spruced-up Carnation Café debuts on Main Street, U.S.A., in Disneyland park.
• A 4.1 earthquake in Yorba Linda that shake parts of Southern California on this evening adds a little extra unexpected excitement to the star-studded red carpet opening of the new Cars Land at the Disneyland Resort.
• Disneyland Resort caps off its $1 billion renovation of Disney California Adventure with the public opening of Cars Land and the new Buena Vista Street. Based on the Disney-Pixar movie Cars, Cars Land is the largest piece of a five-year expansion at Disney California Adventure Park, adding 12 acres of new attractions to the theme park. It is a recreation of the fictional town of Radiator Springs, featuring Luigi's Flying Tires, which flies riders over what looks like a giant air hockey table; Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, which swings riders in trailers in a "tow-si-do" square dance; and Radiator Springs Racers, which takes riders through a race through a mountain range.
• 2016:
• Finding Dory, a 3D computer-animated comedy adventure film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures, hits U.S. theaters. 
•  The revamped Soarin’ flight simulator rides at Disney California Adventure and Epcot open to guests. Now called Soarin' Around the World, new scenes include a flight over Switzerland’s Matterhorn, the Arctic Ocean with a leaping whale, the Sydney Opera House in Australia, Germany’s Neuschwanstein castle, a herd of African elephants, the Great Wall of China, Egyptian pyramids, India’s Taj Mahal, hot air balloons in Monument Valley on the Arizona-Utah  border, outrigger boats off Fiji, the Iguazu waterfalls on the Argentina-Brazil border and France’s Eiffel Tower. A new soundtrack performed by the London Studio Orchestra is based on Jerry Goldsmith's original Soarin’ score. Patrick Warburton (best known as Elaine’s on-again, off-again boyfriend Puddy on "Seinfeld") returns as chief flight attendant and host.

• 1958:
• Disneyland's ship Columbia is officially christened on the Rivers of America. Joe Fowler (Disneyland’s construction supervisor and a former naval admiral) is on hand dressed as a sailing captain of the 1700s, with the Mousketeers appearing as his crew!
• 1961:
• The King of Swing Benny Goodman returns to Disneyland with his big band for the start of Date Night.
• 1966:
• On this Memorial Day, Disneyland throws a grand opening celebration for its newest Fantasyland attraction, "it's a small world." Inaugurated on May 28, the attraction was originally built for the 1964-65 World's Fair in New York. Honoring all children of the world, the attraction features the song "it's a small world (after all)" by Richard & Robert Sherman.

• The Disneyland parade The Lion King Celebration - running since July 1994 - gives its final performance.
• 2006:
• The Disneyland Resort hosts the premiere of Disney/Pixar's Cars.
• 2008:
• Disney and NASA announce that Buzz Lightyear (the Disney/Pixar character) will visit space for real when he becomes part of Discovery's crew on May 31. Lightyear is scheduled to take to space on Discovery’s STS-124 mission stowed inside a locker in the space shuttle's crew compartment. The toy astronaut will mark an educational partnership between NASA and Disney.
• 2009:
• Disneyland treats guests to a preview of a new fireworks show called "Magical." The nighttime presentation features 750 discreet digital-control channels, Disney Air Launch system (which creates less ground-level smoke than the former system using black powder) and the addition of six high-beam lights shooting up behind the castle.
• 2010:
• Songwriter (and Disney Legend) Randy Newman receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
• 2011:
• A new immersive water play area opens at the newly enhanced Disneyland Hotel. The centerpiece of the improved pool area reflects Disneyland's nostalgic iconography with a classic Disneyland block signage and monorail replica.
• Disneyland Resort celebrates the opening of The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure with a special ceremony at Disney California Adventure park. Jodi Benson, the original voice of Ariel, performs "Part of Your World,"
• Disneyland officially launched Star Tours – The Adventures Continue with a gala ceremony in Tomorrowland.
• 2019:
• Disneyland dedicates its newest addition - Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Galaxy's Edge is located to the north of Frontierland, where Big Thunder Ranch and backstage areas were located. In attendance at the dedication ceremony are CEO Bob Iger, Star Wars creator George Lucas, and actors Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Billy Dee Williams. The land will open to the public the following day.

• Detailed Renderings of New 12-Story Disney Vacation Club Tower at Disneyland Hotel released during a town hall webinar for neighborhood residents. The plans are still under review by the City of Anaheim, but it looks like despite the planned cutbacks to capital expenditures, the tower is still in the works, bringing a new “home” for Disney Vacation Club members at the Disneyland Resort.

• Faux fur Chewie mini backpack and wallet are coming to Loungefly soon. The backpack and wallet are both covered in faux fur and showcases chewie’s adorable smiling face. The inner lining has jedi inspired print and the backpack also has an inside zipper pocket. There is no release date yet so keep your eye on the loungefly website.
• A new spirit jersey is available on shopDisney. The spirit jersey is off white and covered in a grey mickey mouse full body print and has Los Angeles across the back. The front has one full color mickey in place of the traditional D on the jerseys. Currently available for 64.99.
• A new jungle cruise inspired t shirt design popped up on shopDisney earlier this week. The shirt showcases original artwork by imagineer marc davis from the reimagining of the jungle cruise in 1961. The sleeve features a Disneyland INC/ WED Enterprises archival label on the sleeve. You can pick it up for 24.99.
• Disney has unveiled the second castle in the Disney Castle Collection and its going to be… the Arendelle Castle! This installment will include the castle figure, ornament, puzzle, pin and journal. ShopDisney UK shared some photos of all the pieces on their instagram that we will also throw on ours so go check it out!

• In recognition of his distinguished public service and outstanding contributions to the United States and to the world, U.S. President Johnson presents a Congressional Gold Medal to the widow of the late Walt Disney.
• 2019:
• The original Disney princess castle, Sleeping Beauty’s pink and blue palace at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, unveils a new look on this day. The castle has been blocked off from visitors since January, as groups of maintenance crews have been giving it a spruce. The castle now features brighter, more vibrant pink walls and blue rooftops, plus some sparkling gold shingles that look like "pixie dust." The crews also added some artistic tricks to make the castle seem bigger. A painting technique was used that involves painting the lower parts of the 70-foot tall castle walls in darker and warmer hues of pink paint, gradually getting lighter and cooler as it goes up to the top in order to blend in with the atmosphere. This tricks the eye into thinking the object in front of them is larger or taller than it is.
• 1983:
• Pinocchio's Daring Journey officially opens to the general public as part of Disneyland's New Fantasyland.
• 1999:
• The final 3 episodes of the long-running ABC-TV sitcom Home Improvement airs back-to-back.

MAIN - The Lost Attractions of Disneyland part 3

• Disneyland Branch of Bank of America (1955–1993): A Bank of America with three ATMs to use
• Bank of Main Street U.S.A. (1993–2005)
• Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln (1965–1973): Theater presentation featuring an Audio-Animatronic Abraham Lincoln, and a replica of a similar attraction at the 1964 New York World's Fair. Elements of the original show were incorporated into later versions of the attraction from 1975–2004 and from 2009–present.
• The Walt Disney Story (1973–1975): Biographical film about Walt Disney, which originally appeared at Walt Disney World in 1972.
• The Walt Disney Story featuring Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln (1975–2004: A combination of the two previous shows. Disneyland had been criticized for replacing the Lincoln tribute with a tribute to Walt Disney, and combined elements of the two shows in response. From 2001–2004 the Disney tribute was removed, and the entire show was given more of a focus on the American Civil War.
• Merlin's Magic Shop (1955–1983): The original magic shop in the park. A second one on Main Street, U.S.A. opened in 1957 and continues to this day. 
• Mickey Mouse Club Theater (1955–1964): Walk-in theater continuously showing animated Disney films and shorts, similar to the Main Street Cinema. Renamed Fantasyland Theater (1964–1982; not to be confused with the present-day theater). Now the site of Pinocchio's Daring Journey.
• Circarama, U.S.A. (1955–1997), renamed Circle-Vision 360° in 1967: A film presentation showing scenes from around the United States and later China. Guests stood in a large circular room and watched a film projected on nine large, contiguous screens that surrounded them. During its run, the attraction was hosted by American Motors, Bell System, AT&T Corporation, Pacific Southwest Airlines, and Delta Air Lines. Shows were:
• A Tour of the West (1955–1959)
• America the Beautiful (1960–1984)
• "All Because Man Wanted to Fly" (lobby pre-show) (1984–1989)
• American Journeys (1984–1996)
• Wonders of China (1984–1996)
• America the Beautiful (1996–1997)

In 1998, the theater became the queue for the short-lived Rocket Rods attraction. The building now houses Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters.

• Skyway to Tomorrowland (1956–1994): This ride, a typical aerial lift ride seen in many parks, traveled from a chalet on the west side of Fantasyland, through the Matterhorn, to a station in Tomorrowland. Cabins hung from cables and ran constantly back and forth between the two lands. The Fantasyland station stood until 2016 – closed to public access – adjacent to the Casey Jr. Circus Train, and was concealed by trees. It was demolished for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge construction. Its support towers were removed and the holes in the Matterhorn through which the ride passed were filled in.
• Rainbow Caverns Mine Train (1956–1959): A 2 ft 6 in (762 mm) narrow gauge mine train attraction through the new Living Desert. After the scenery was again redone in 1960, it was also upgraded and became:
• Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland (1960–1977): The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad attraction replaced this sedate train ride with a roller coaster version. The only element that remained in place from its scenic vistas was the mighty waterfall tumbling from Cascade Peak into the Rivers of America, visible only from various boat rides around the Rivers. The structure that formed Cascade Peak and its waterfalls was demolished in 1998 after it was found to be suffering structurally from the decades of water that had flowed over it. One of the four locomotives and two cars from the ride remained on a stretch of track where Cascade peak once stood, as a staged wreck scene. The train, however, was removed in early 2010 during the Rivers of America refurbishment. The cacti that were a part of the Living Desert section were mostly relocated to the Magic Kingdom version of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Other remnants from Nature's Wonderland include the tunnel from Bear Country, the buttes from the Living Desert, the tunnel into Rainbow Caverns (though half-buried in concrete), and the jumping fish seen in Bear Country, all visible on Big Thunder Trail. The animals, however, were buried in concrete as the Imagineers didn't know where to place them.
• The Disney Gallery (1987–2007): A gallery of Disney-related art. The Disney Gallery was the only area listed on Disneyland maps as both an attraction and a retail location. The Gallery sometimes featured preliminary artwork and sketches from certain attractions or movies, sometimes (as in the 100 Mickeys exhibit) the displayed art was associated only with Disney and not with any specific attraction, film, or event. Often, prints from the exhibit were available for purchase via the print-on-demand system, and the Gallery always featured items such as books about Disney artwork. The Gallery used to sell prints of the ride posters featured in the tunnels leading to and from Main Street. The former gallery was replaced by the Disneyland Dream Suite. In October 2009 the gallery re-opened, but now it resides on Main Street, U.S.A..
• In the early 1960s as construction of New Orleans Square was proceeding, Walt Disney decided he needed a bigger entertaining facility for various VIPs that came to the park. He already had an apartment above the Fire Station on Main Street, U.S.A., but it was too small to host elaborate events. Walt decided to place the suite in New Orleans Square, set back from the hustle and bustle of the park.

Disney brought in set designer Dorothea Redmond, famous for creating the sets in Gone with the Wind, to help him with the apartment layout. To furnish and decorate the area, he left his wife Lilly and Walt Disney Studio set decorator Emile Kuri to collaborate as they had on other projects (Club 33, the Firehouse Apartment, etc.). The project was christened The Royal Suite, inspired by its location off New Orleans Square's Royal Street.

After Walt Disney died on December 15, 1966, many projects at Walt Disney Productions were put on hold or abandoned. At the request of his brother Roy, who felt the family would not enjoy The Royal Suite with Walt gone, the project was quietly set aside. It was fairly close to completion at the time of Disney's death, including infrastructure and plumbing.

From July 11, 1987, to August 7, 2007, the space housed the Disney Gallery.

On October 1, 2007 the Walt Disney Company announced that the recently closed Disney Gallery would be remodeled and turned into the Disneyland Dream Suite. The remodeled suite would be the realization of Walt's dream to have a larger private apartment built at Disneyland, and would be made available to randomly selected guests of the park. The space underwent a whirlwind remodeling, with Disney Imagineers closely following the original design drawings from Dorothea Redmond. Located above the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, the Disneyland Dream Suite included a living room, open-air patio, two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

“Our plan has been to use the renderings that Walt worked on with Dorothea Redmond and to replicate those as exactly as we can,” said Walt Disney Imagineering Art Director Kim Irvine. “Her illustrations were very specific, with a color and style for each room.

“But to make it special for the guests, we want it to be more than just a beautiful suite. We want it to be filled with things that might have inspired Walt as he dreamed of Disneyland."

One of the most distinctive characteristics of the Dream Suite was the private balcony, which overlooked the Rivers of America. From here guests had an unobstructed view of the nighttime spectacular Fantasmic! In addition to that night’s lodging in the Disneyland Dream Suite, each selected 2008 Disney Dreams Giveaway winner of the Disneyland Dream Suite would also be celebrated as the honorary grand marshal in that day’s Disneyland parade.

The Suite was given out as a prize through various promotions.

• The original concept for Holidayland was that of a turn-of-the-century town park, with picnic areas, horseshoe pits, a baseball diamond, and perhaps an open field where a circus could come to perform. This original version would be located where the Matterhorn sits today. As Disneyland came together in 1954, it became apparent that there wasn't enough space within the park for Holidayland to become a reality, and the land (now sometimes called "Recreationland") became a picnic and recreation area, with minor seasonal holiday decorations.

In November 1955, the Mickey Mouse Club Circus came to Disneyland, in the Fantasyland section of the park. This event only lasted until January 1956, and was themed to the celebration of Christmas, with promotional material referring to the circus as "Holidayland," including a November 25, 1955 Los Angeles Times article declaring "Holidayland was a roaring success. The kids consumed great amounts of popcorn, and Walt Disney enjoyed himself as much as anybody.

• Walt Disney's trademark application for "Mickey Mouse" is filed with the United States Patent Office.
• 1971:
• Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes debuts in Disneyland. Originally called Indian War Canoes, the attraction opened on July 4, 1956, as part of Frontierland's Indian Village expansion, with real American Indian guides aboard every canoe. Guests used a "D ticket" to ride the attraction. The Indian War Canoes closed with Indian Village in 1971 but reopened on May 19 as Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes, inspired by the Davy Crockett miniseries, with the guides now wearing coonskin caps. It is one of only two attractions in Disneyland to be in three different lands without ever being moved. Frontierland, Bear Country, Critter Country
• 1997:
• Disneyland's Mike Fink Keelboats re-closes for only the second time in the attraction's history.
• 1998:
• The new Disneyland Tomorrowland is unveiled after being given an extreme facelift. Various dedications will take place over the next 2 days. Among the special guests are legendary astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Wally Schirra.
• 1999:
• Disneyland hosts the official homecoming of Army Staff Sergeant Andrew Ramirez, Staff Sergeant Christopher Stone, and Specialist Steven Gonzales. It is the first time the three U.S. soldiers, who had been captured by Serbian forces on March 31, stand on American soil since their release from captivity.
• 2000:
• The Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean Celebration is held inside the Main Street Opera House, to celebrate the 33rd anniversary of one of the most popular rides at the park. Special guests include Harriett Burns, the very first woman hired as an Imagineer.
• 2007:
• A gala premiere for the feature Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End takes place at Disneyland. Johnny Depp and his fellow actors attend the world premiere
• 2011: 
• Guests get the public’s first glimpse of Disneyland's revamped Star Tours. (The attraction will open to the general public on June 3.)
• 2015:
• The premiere performances of "Paint the Night" parade and "Disneyland Forever" fireworks takes place at Disneyland park. Both additions to Disneyland's 60th birthday bash (which kicks off the following day), the parade and fireworks are broadcast live on the Disney Parks blog.
• Topic 2 - News 
• Construction has resumed on Avenger’s Campus as well as the site for Mickey & Minnie’s runaway railway in ToonTown. All work is being done by limited essential crews that include Imagineers and additional contractors. Other construction regarding refurbs (like HM and Snow White) is still on hold.
• The Dapper Day events that were tentatively scheduled for the summer have been cancelled. There are talks of a possible small marketplace being held in August in place of the normal expo. As of now all November events are still taking place as planned. 
• Disney Springs phased re-opening to begin May 20. Still no date for Disneyland opening yet.
• Topic 3 - Merch
• More free merch! Disney released a few additional desktop and mobile backgrounds through photopass. There is an amazing mobile wallpaper of fireworks at the castle available to download. These will expire on 6/27 so go get them downloaded now.
• Artist Series “Bambi and Forest Friends” Dooney & Bourke Collection released on shopDisney. The pattern features bambi, meeko, thumper, flower and Tod and Copper from Fox and the Hound. The collection includes a wristlet wallet, tote and satchel.
• A new Haunted Mansion board game called “Call of the Spirits” is being released by Funko later this year. They have not put any additional information regarding gameplay or an exact release date on their website as of yet, but I’d assume if they’re looking to release later this year that it’ll be in October to keep it spooky!

• MAIN - The lost attractions of Disneyland part 2
• Over 150 lost attractions, restaurants, shops, parades and fireworks shows
• General Electric Carousel of Progress (1967–1973): 
• A sit-down show in which the building rotated the audience around a series of stages. The stages had audioanimatronic humans and household appliances showing how appliances and electronics advanced about every 20 years from the turn of the century to the "modern" era of the early 1960s. The audience stopped in front of each stage while the characters joked with each other, described life at the time in history, and demonstrated their kitchen. This ride originated at the 1964 New York World's Fair and was installed at Disneyland after the fair closed. In 1974, Carousel of Progress was moved to Florida's Walt Disney World, and the show building was used for America Sings and Innoventions.

• A nighttime dance club targeted at young adults. Videopolis featured television monitors playing modern music videos and also hosted live musical acts. It also featured its very own snack bar, "Yumz". Videopolis was converted into an amphitheatre in 1990 and was renamed Fantasyland Theatre in 1995.
• Mike Fink Keel Boats (1956–1994, 1996–1997): 
• The Mike Fink Keel Boats were based on two episodes of the Davy Crockett miniseries which aired on the Disneyland TV show in 1955 -- "Davy Crockett's Keel Boat Race" (Nov 16) and "Davy Crockett and the River Pirates" (December 14). The ride was named after Mike Fink, the "King of the River" who lost the keel boat race. 
• The two 38-foot boats, the Gullywhumper and the Bertha Mae, were the actual props that had been used in making the TV shows a few months earlier.
• The boats were free-floating and traveled around Tom Sawyer Island Riders would sit on benches either inside the cabin or on the roof of the cabin.
• 1997, the Disneyland Gullywhumper boat began to rock side to side. It capsized, dumping a full boatload of passengers into the Rivers of America, leaving several with minor injuries. 
• The boat was removed from the waters for inspection and neither the Gullywhumper nor the Bertha Mae returned for the next operating season. 
• The Bertha Mae was put up on Disney's eBay Auction Site and was sold for $15,000 to Richard Kraft, and was later featured in a scene from Kraft's documentary Finding Kraftland. It was billed as an unseaworthy craft.
• In 2003, the Gullywhumper returned to the Rivers of America as a prop and is moored on Tom Sawyer Island, where it is visible from the Mark Twain Riverboat, the Sailing Ship Columbia, and the Explorer Canoes.
• Swiss Family Treehouse (1962–1999): 
• Treehouse based on the film Swiss Family Robinson. Rethemed as Tarzan's Treehouse in 1999 and still open under that name.
• Jolly Trolley (1993–2003): 
• The Jolly Trolley was a Trolley providing transportation from one end of Toontown to the other. Closed due to crowded walkways presenting major safety hazards, meaning the trolleys could only operate on days with sparse crowds. The Jolly Trolley's track is still present in the main walkway of Toontown, and one car stands stationary in the middle of Toontown.

Topic 1 - This Week in Disneyland history

• 1956:
• The Main Street Horseless Carriage begins operating at Disneyland.
• 1992:
• Disneyland's Fantasmic! - a new night-time fireworks and visual hydrotechnic show - is officially dedicated in Frontierland. The 22-minute presentation, featuring fireworks, live actors, water effects, fire, music, boats, decorated rafts and projections onto large mist screens, takes place over the Rivers of America. 
• 2011:
• A "black carpet" premiere for Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides takes place at Disneyland.
• 2012:
• Disney costume designer Alice Davis is honored with a window (next to her late husband Marc's window) at Disneyland. The 83-year-old Disney Legend designed park costumes, including many of the 150 or so dolls in the "it’s a small world" ride and those of the animatronic characters in the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. Her window sits above the Disneyana shop along Main Street, U.S.A.
• 2013:
•  Walt Disney World officially crowns Merida from Disney/Pixar’s "Brave" as the 11th Disney Princess. Her coronation ceremony fittingly takes place in front of Cinderella Castle, just steps away from her own Magic Kingdom meet-and-greet spot. Just after the theme park opening, Princess Merida is joined for the first time by all ten of her fellow royals, Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Jasmine, Belle, Mulan, Pocahontas, Tiana, and Rapunzel, welcoming her to the group.
• 2016:
• Shanghai Disneyland Park begins its soft openings. The new theme park, located in Pudong, Shanghai, China, will officially open June 16.

Topic 2 - News 

• Closures
• Shanghai Disneyland is reopening! May 11th is the lucky day. There are multiple new protocols in place to keep everyone safe, limited capacity and cancellations for theater shows, fireworks and parades. Close up character interactions are also not going to be available at this time. During the initial reopening phase, a special Disney character procession, Mickey and Friends Express, will take place several times daily, and the Enchanted Storybook Castle will come to life with light and music at dusk each day with Evening Magical Moments. They’ve added multiple requirements for getting tickets and registering your info for admittance so if you plan on heading to Shanghai, which you shouldn’t be planning to go right now unless you live in Shanghai….please, be sure to read up on all their new guidelines.
• Disneyland announced they will begin accepting reservations for travel dates starting July 1st and later. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THE PARKS WILL BE OPEN. Previously they were taking reservations starting June 1st, so all this means is that it has been pushed back. Again, there is NO confirmed opening date so do not get your hopes up!
• If you have the time, go check out the plans and considerations for reopening that Disney Parks Chief Medical Officer Pam Hymel released. It talks all about the plans for phased reopenings for many disney parks, distancing and capacity requirements, cleanliness and sanitation measures, screening and cast member training. Definitely info you want to have for the coming months.

Topic 3 - Merch

• Disney released some free “merch” last week in the form of free photopass wallpaper downloads of Sleeping Beauty’s castle, Pixar Pier, the Partner’s Statue, The Haunted Mansion, Cars Land, Mickey balloons and Mickey in his newsboy outfit in the red car trolley. All are high quality and super cute. They expire June 15th so make sure you download them asap!
• Multiple items from Disneyland’s history, spanning from the 1950’s to 2010’s are being featured in the Van Eaton Galleries “Popular Culture and Disneyland Auction” that will take place Saturday May 9th. Things like old park signage and vintage publications will be available to lucky winners. Some key items on the list were a Disneyland Opening Day Press Ticket, Disneyland Railroad Main Street Station Mickey Flag, the old Bugs Land entrance sign posters and props from Star Wars, and memorabilia from the earliest years of Club 33. Visit vegalleries.com and click on the “Popular Culture and Disneyland” tab to get all of the details on how to bid and see everything they have to offer. They also have a buy it now section on their site if you don’t feel like getting into a bidding war!
• A Minnie Mouse polka dot purse collection was just added to the Loungefly website! The collection includes a red crossbody and red wallet both with white polka dots and a large gold Disney “D” on the front. The prices aren’t too bad at 65 and 25 for each.
• Speaking of Loungefly, they are trying to bankrupt us. Multiple Star Wars themed bags were released for May the 4th. The new POP by LF X Star Wars collection includes a Wicket POP Head Wristlet, an Ewok crossbody/handbag, a darth vader POP head crossbody, and an Empire Strikes Back 40th anniversary Han Solo Hoth Canvas backpack that I NEEED. All are still available on the LF website as of right now.
• An Amazon Exclusive Empire Strikes Back 40th anniversary “battle at Echo Base” funko pop is available for preorder. The pop depicts the scene where Han uses a saber to cut open a tauntaun to save Luke. Since it is a deluxe pop its a little more expensive than the others at 24.99 which still isn't bad.
• New Wishables blind bags are available on shopdisney featuring the country bears! They are limited release so if you collect them make sure you hop to it!
• Last for merch but certainly not least, a sneak peak of the Minnie Main Attraction for June was released….its amazing. The theme for June is Peter Pan’s Flight and it will be available June 20th. Everything is in a super vibrant blue color. The ears depict a starry sky with the second star to the right in sequins and a gold tinker bell in the middle of the lighter blue bow. AMAZING.

• Captain EO was a 1986 American 3D science fiction film that was shown at Disney theme parks from 1986 through 1998. The movie stars Michael Jackson, was written by George Lucas and directed by Francis Ford Coppola (who came up with the name "Captain EO" from the Greek, cf. Eos, the Greek goddess of dawn). The film was shown as part of an attraction with in-theater effects. The attraction returned to the Disney Parks in 2010 as a tribute after Jackson's death.
• Captain EO is regarded as one of the first "4D" films (4D being the name given to a 3D film that incorporates in-theater effects, such as lasers, smoke, etc., synchronized to the film)
• The film tells the story of Captain EO (Michael Jackson) and the ragtag crew of his spaceship on a mission to deliver a gift to "The Supreme Leader" (Anjelica Huston), who lives on a world of rotting, twisted metal and steaming vents. Captain EO's alien crew consists of his small flying sidekick Fuzzball, the double-headed navigator and pilot Idey (Debbie Lee Carrington) and Ody (Cindy Sorenson), robotic security officer Major Domo (Gary Depew), a small robot, Minor Domo (who fits like a module into Major Domo), and the clumsy elephant-like shipmate Hooter (Tony Cox) who always manages to upset the crew's missions. Dick Shawn plays Captain EO's boss, Commander Bog.
• Autopia
• Junior Autopia (1956–1958): 
• A version of the original Autopia geared towards children. The Junior Autopia featured a guide rail, which the original version of Autopia did not have at the time. The site of the Junior Autopia reopened a year later as the Fantasyland Autopia and is now part of the present-day Autopia.
• Midget Autopia (1957–1966): 
• A version of the original Autopia geared towards young children. After the Midget Autopia closed, the ride was dismantled and sent to Walt Disney's hometown of Marceline, Missouri, where it operated for a few years. The site of the Midget Autopia is now the main walkway between It's a Small World and the rest of Fantasyland.
• Fantasyland Autopia (1959–1999): 
• A version of the original Autopia, built on the site of the former Junior Autopia. The Fantasyland Autopia was known as the "Rescue Ranger Raceway" and themed to the Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers television series from 1991–1993. Its name reverted to "Fantasyland Autopia" afterwards, and operated part-time until it permanently closed in 1999. Its track was combined with the track of the Tomorrowland Autopia to create the present-day Autopia.
• Skull Rock and Pirate's Cove (1961–1982): 
• A dining experience themed to Captain Hook's pirate ship. Dumbo the Flying Elephant was relocated to the former location of Skull Rock and Pirate's Cove and reopened there in 1983.
• Motor Boat Cruise (1957–1991): 
• Simulated experience of navigating waterways in a motor boat. Renamed Motor Boat Cruise to Gummi Glen (1991–1993), based on the Gummi Bears television show.
• Billy Hill and the Hillbillies (1994–2014): 
• A live-action show featuring singing and comedy. In 2012 the musical/variety group moved to Big Thunder Ranch until their show was retired in early 2014. Afterward, they were hired by Knott's Berry Farm as Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies.
• Big Thunder Ranch (1986–2016): 
• A Western-themed casual area for seeing shows, viewing Disneyland's horses on their breaks and days off, and dining at Big Thunder Barbecue which served ribs, chicken, potatoes, beans, and such. The Barbecue remained open for a few more years after the Ranch area became the Festival of Fools stage for The Hunchback of Notre Dame show. Up until its closing, the area was used for special events, a Petting Zoo, and seasonal attractions. It closed in early 2016 for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.
• Country Bear Jamboree (1972–2001): 
• An audio-animatronic show featuring traditional American folk songs sung by a variety of bears and their friends, including Henry the host and Big Al, Shaker (a.k.a. Terrence), The Sun Bonnets (Bunny, Bubbles, and Beulah), Liver Lips McGrowl, Wendell, Ernest, Gomer, Trixie, Teddi Barra, The Five Bear Rugs (Zeke, Zeb, Ted, Fred and Tennessee), and Zeke's son Oscar. The content of the show was replaced by Country Bear Vacation Hoedown at the Country Bear Playhouse (1986–2001): Used the same animated figures as Country Bear Jamboree, redecorated. This is now the site of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

Topic 1 - This Week in Disneyland history

• 1964:
• Disney's 4th World's Fair exhibit, "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln," finally makes its New York debut after weeks of technical problems.
• 1969:
• Ground is officially broken for the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California. Also known as CalArts, the school was founded by Walt Disney when the Chouinard School of Music and The Los Angeles Conservatory merged in the early 60s. (Although Disney had died a few years before this groundbreaking, the CalArts student newspaper will still be called Walt.)
• 1987:
• Disneyland introduces Disney Dollars, its exclusive line of currency featuring Mickey Mouse on the $1 bill and Goofy on the $5 bill.
• 1994:
• Disney announces plans to create a cruise line.
• 1977: 
• Space Mountain opens in Disneyland. Based on concepts by Imagineer John Hench, Space Mountain at Disneyland was designed by Bill Watkins. It is the second Space Mountain in existence, as the first one opened at WDW in January 1975. Also opening as part of the Space Mountain complex is the Starcade arcade, Space Place Restaurant and Tomorrowland Space Stage. 
• 2001:
• Seventy mile-per-hour winds shut down five rides at Disney's California Adventure.
• 2004
• The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror has its official grand opening at Disney's California Adventure.
• 2005:
• Disneyland closes to the public on this day for a VIP and Celebrity party in honor of the 18-month 50th Celebration event (which will officially kick off the next day). A gold carpeted Main Street leads guests to the entrance of Frontierland where the festivities are being held. Earlier in the afternoon the premier of "Disneyland – The First 50 Years" takes place with a ceremony hosted by Steve Martin and Donald Duck. Also in attendance is actress Julie Andrews, Disneyland's 50th Anniversary Honorary Ambassador. The evening ends with the premiere of the "Remember Dreams Come True" fireworks spectacular.
• In an historic first, all 10 of the Disney theme parks around the world collectively kick off the festivities for the "Happiest Celebration on Earth" to mark the 50th anniversary of Disneyland. (The opening of Hong Kong Disneyland in September will add #11 to the18-month long global celebration. In Anaheim, the opening ceremony for Disneyland's 50th Anniversary takes place in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle.
• 2006:
• At 9:02 a.m., Disneyland welcomes 12-year old Emmalee Mason of Colorado Springs, Colorado - the honorary two-billionth guest to visit a Disney Park! Emmalee is presented with a giant golden key and a lifetime pass to all 11 Disney Parks around the world.

Topic 2 - News 

• Currently, theme parks are listed as some of the final businesses that will be able to reopen according to governor newsom’s four stage plan that was announced on Wednesday 4/29. The 4 stage plan is pretty complex and could change from day to day or week to week, so definitely go and take a look at it. Bob Iger had made comments about temperature checks being implemented at other Disney Parks, like they’re doing in Shanghai, but nothing is confirmed and we still don’t have a date on the horizon.
• If you are a DVC member, keep an eye out for an email regarding some policy changes and updates to points and expiration dates. There is A LOT of information in the email they’re sending out that could affect trips you have planned or have rescheduled!
• AP payments have changed https://disneyland.disney.go.com/travel-information/
• Disney Music released a playlist of Peaceful Piano Versions of classic disney songs. The playlists are available on Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora and YouTube Music. We listened to them while we prepped for this episode and they’re so soothing..
• A small family owned grocery store in Alabama was selling pallets of Galaxy’s Edge themed coca cola products, with 12 packs being sold for 6.99. The expiration date on all of it was listed as April 20 so they may have shipped it out to get it sold instead of it all going to waste...but who knows.
• Disneyland Paris has released downloadable interactive coloring pages. You print the page, color it, and then download the WAKATOON app. Once you have the aoo enter the keyword MICKEY and take a picture of your coloring page. The app will bring your image to life!

• Limited Edition Star Wars May the 4th Lightsaber Disney Store Key coming to shopdisney. The store keys are usually only sold in store but with stores being closed they will be available, in limited supply, on shopdisney on May 4th. Concept art has been released that shows the key being designed with the Skywalker Lightsaber and the Star Wars logo as the teeth.
• New Disney Eats cookbook featuring more than 150 recipes is available for pre-order on amazon with a release of Oct. 6th. The book description reads “The kitchen is a great place to make memories. • Tangled collection available for pre-order to celebrate the movies 10th anniversary. The collection includes a backpack with Rapunzel's paintings, a cylinder shaped crossbody bag with rapunzel and finn and Finn’s wanted posters, and a frying pan shaped crossbody. Collection is set to release in September.
• Disney Park Pals released two new additions, Sully from Monsters Inc and a Grim Grinning Ghost from the haunted mansion. These little figures come with a clip on the back to attach to anything and carry it around with you or a small stand to display with your other collectors items.

• New Alex and Ani bracelets are available on ShopDisney. The new releases include Pocahontas, Meeko, Flounder and Cinderella’s glass slipper. The two Pocahontas bangles are copper and the flounder and slipper are silver. Each bracelet is 44.99.

• Her Universe is also releasing a few Tangled items in honor of the 10th Anniversary. Her Universe Disney Tangled Floral Icons Dress, featuring the sundrop flower, Corona Kingdom lanterns and pascal along with a floral design. A lace up design is featured on the bust as well as puffy sleeves...and POCKETS! Pink button front ribbed top with a lace trim, the neckline is embroidered with lanterns, sundrop flowers and the corona kingdom sun.

• Topic 1 - This Week in Disneyland history
• 1957: 
• The Midget Autopia opens in Disneyland. It is the third (and smallest) Autopia track, following the Tomorrowland Autopia (1955) and the Junior Autopia in Fantasyland (1956). The Midget Autopia, located right next to the Storybook Land Canal Boats, is for very young guests who are too small to ride the other Autopia attractions. (It will close in April 1966 and be donated to Walt Disney's boyhood hometown of Marceline, Missouri.)

• In a presentation to theater owners in Las Vegas, Pixar announces that the studio has added a movie about the Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos to its slate.

• Mickey's PhilharMagic, a 4-D film attraction, debuts at Disney California Adventure. Taking place at Sunset Showcase Theater in Hollywood Land, Mickey's PhilharMagic is a 12-minute-long show featuring 3D effects, scents, and water, as well as a number of characters from Disney movies. DCA is the 5th Disney theme park in the world to have a version of it (as the very first PhilharMagic opened in 2003 at Walt Disney World).

• All Grad Night dates through June 13th have been officially cancelled due to COVID-19. Still no opening date for the Disney parks.
• Bob Iger been appointed by California Governor Gavin Newsom to become a part of the business recovery task force, a group of 70 highly-regarded business leaders designated to lead California out of the economic recession, along with people such as Apple’s Tim Cook and former governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
• An 18 year old man was arrested after jumping over a fence into the DCA backlot. He was found by Anaheim Police wandering near Guardians of the Galaxy. 
• The Mandalorian season 3 is already in pre-production. Season 2 is not set to air until October of this year. Variety magazine reported that “Sources close to the production have confirmed that creator Jon Favreau has been “writing season 3 for a while,” and that the art department, led by Lucasfilm vice president and executive creative director Doug Chiang, has been creating concepts for Season 3 “for the past few weeks.””
• Disney is offering a free download through 4/26 of the “Fairest of All: A tale of the Wicked Queen” ebook. Visit books.disney.com and it will take you to the free download site for Amazon Apple Barnes&Noble Google or Kobo.
• A “female centric” Star Wars series in development for Disney+. No details have been released yet other than it will take place in a different part of the star wars timeline than other projects.

Topic 1 - This Week in Disneyland history

• 1964:
• Disney's "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln" exhibit passes testing at WED headquarters in California. It is flown to New York for the World's Fair.
• 1969:
• Various musical cues are recorded at the Walt Disney Productions Recording Stage (in California) for Disneyland's much anticipated Haunted Mansion attraction.
• 1983:
• Tokyo Disneyland opens in Japan. It is Disney's fourth theme park but the first outside the United States.
• 2007:
• Disney announces that Disneyland's fleet of antique passenger trains have been converted from diesel to biofuel. The switch saves as much as 150,000 gallons of diesel fuel each year, while potentially reducing carbon dioxide emissions by up to 80 percent.

Topic 2 - News 

• Biggest News: Bob Iger took CEO responsibilities back from Bob Chapek, BUT Chapek is still CEO. Iger is back and focusing on remaking the company to come back stronger.
• News for APs, if you have paid in full you may call and receive a partial refund OR your expiration date will be pushed out based on how long the parks are closed. There are two options for payment plans, either stop payments and refunds will be issued for payments from march 14th- april 4, but your expiration date will not be extended OR monthly payments can be postponed and resume when the parks re open and your expiration date will be moved out based on when the park reopens.
• Avengers Campus now states “Coming Soon” and everything pertaining to its July 18th opening has been removed...sad day.. BUT! Regarding Avengers Campus, Comicbook.com reported that during a preview of the new land, Dan Fields (Executive Creative Director for Disney Parks Live Entertainment) stated that the land will NOT be canonically consistent with the MCU, mainly because you’ll be seeing heroes that sacrificed themselves to stop Thanos. The land will exist in the real world, meaning the heroes are here keeping an eye out to keep US safe.

• 1956:
• Disneyland holds its first "Old-Fashioned Easter Parade" down Main Street USA.
• 1956:
• At Disneyland, the Bathroom of the Future (later known as the Bathroom of Tomorrow) presented by The Crane Company, opens in Tomorrowland.
• 1990:
• At Disneyland, the Blue Ribbon Bakery shop opens on Main Street replacing the Sunkist Citrus House
• Today, this space is the check-in area and indoor dining room of the Carnation Café. In 1997, the shop moved down the street, to Jolly Holiday‘s current location.
• 1993:
• At Disneyland, the Aladdin's Royal Caravan parade steps off for the first time.
• 1995:
• The Disney film A Goofy Movie is released.

Topic 2 - News 

• Parks officially closed “until further notice”. Reservations available starting June 1st as of right now but fine print on disney websites says whether or not the parks will remain closed until June 1st is still undecided.. Cast members will continue to be paid through 4/18.
• Disney senior execs will have their pay reduced in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and the indefinite closures of Disney Parks across the world.
• You can take a virtual tour of Walt Disney Imagineering on the disney parks youtube page.
• Bose and Trigger have been working with LucasFilm, Skywalker Sound and Disney to introduce an augmented reality app called the “Star Wars Audio AR Experience”. The AR app will help you experience all the sounds of the SW universe from the hum of a lightsaber to the sounds of battle. Also the audio ambiance of black spire outpost on Galaxy’s Edge. Trigger released a statement saying “In partnership with Lucasfilm, Skywalker Sound, Disney, and Bose, Trigger created an immersive, audio-focused AR experience to complement the release of the final film in the Skywalker Saga, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
. It was built specifically to utilize the capabilities of embedded motion sensors found in the flagship line of Bose AR-enabled devices, including two types of headphones and a line of eyeglass frames. Users can try it out in the official Star Wars app.By simply rotating their head, users can experience four essential scenes from the Star Wars franchise as if they were inside the films. They can explore the area where characters are engaged in battle or tap a character to switch to their point-of-view. The AR spans across all eras of the franchise, covering the journey of Anakin and Luke Skywalker’s iconic lightsaber, leading up to the current trilogy where the lightsaber is now in Rey’s possession. The final scene in the AR experience is based on the Millennium Falcon training sequence from A New Hope, which features new, original sounds created specifically for this experience by Skywalker Sound, along with a number of sounds from the Disney Galaxy’s Edge theme park experience.”

• Short Circuit is a series of animated short films produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios filmmakers and artists. The films are independent shorts that are meant to "take risks in both visual style and story". Similar to its sister series SparkShorts from Pixar, it is meant to showcase new talent from within the industry.[1] These shorts were originally meant to be kept within the studio, but have since been released to the general public.

• Scuba diver
• While most divers hang up their gear during the winter, our divers work year-round to maintain cleanliness and ensure that show elements living under water are ready for our guests each day. They use various talents, skills, degrees and certifications to maintain our numerous water attractions including the Rivers of America, Jungle Cruise, Storybook Land Canal Boats, Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean and Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage at Disneyland park, as well as Paradise Bay at Disney California Adventure park.
• Photo censors
• No skin
• No obscene gestures
• No celebrities
• Worked in the "Critter House" - Flash/Splash Mountain
• Mermaids in Tomorrowland
• In 1959, amid a grand, televised re-opening of Tomorrowland — the futuristic sector of Disney’s park — Disneyland opened its Submarine Voyage ride
• Weeks before Submarine Voyage’s grand opening, Disneyland had put out a local newspaper ad calling for “mermaids.” Hundreds lined up around the Disneyland Hotel pool, they took turns showing off their dolphin kicks for the chance to make about $45 per week. In the end, only a handful were chosen to be fitted for their own starfish bras and plastic tails.
• After that initial summer, they reappeared for only three more seasons between 1965 and 1967.

During their two-year term, these “Emissaries of Goodwill” visit hospitals with Disney characters, attend special events, and act as spokespeople for the park. This year, Justin Rapp and Rafa Barron scored the sought-after full-time gigs, representing the Disneyland Resort and its 30,000 cast members as the 2019-2020 Disney Ambassadors. 
• Fairy Godmother in Training:
• For those who adore children and transformative makeovers, being a Fairy Godmother in Training at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Fantasyland will warm the heart day after day. Little girls flock to the salon for a unique hair and makeup experience paying homage to favorite Disney Princesses like Cinderella and Belle. And seriously, there’s nothing cuter than seeing little ones dressed up as their favorite characters. The smiles at the end of the session are totally worth it. 
• Holiday Services Decorator:
• Alecia Keen and Cathy Carson, part of the Holiday Services arm of Disneyland's resort enhancement team, are filled with the Christmas spirit all year long. They create that added magic that appears during the holidays and Halloween in the Parks. And yes, this is a job that's year-round. As soon as the decor is up for the current year, they’re already brainstorming the next. The idea that holiday decorating is an actual job is mind-blowing for those of us who love seasonal decor!
• Queue Designer 
• In charge of the conception, creation, and execution of that space where you wait, pre-ride. Not just how the line moves, but what it looks like along the way. 
• Disney queue management has turned what is typically viewed as a stagnant experience — waiting idly around — into an extension of its amusement park. 
• waiting in line becomes an experience of its own. Disney knows to take visitors’ minds off the queue and put it on to something else.
