Criminal profiler Professor Paul Britton and geographic profiler Professor Sam Lundrigan joined podcast producer Sam Pearson for a special live interview at the first CrimeCon UK in September 2021. Both contributors to Crime+Investigation's Making a Monster, they discussed their careers and their thoughts on the true crime genre.

Dr Samantha Lundrigan’s expertise lies in geographic profiling systems and the spatial behaviour of criminals. Dr Lundrigan has worked closely with police and provided offender and geographic profiles on a series of serious crime investigations. She has also provided training to police officers in the area of environmental criminology and investigative psychology. Dr Lundrigan brings her knowledge to help us understand how a serial killer’s geography may influence their crimes.

Aileen Wuornos with Professor Jethro Toomer

Professor Jethro Toomer has spent over 35 years practising forensic and clinical psychology. Professor Toomer has worked at Florida International University, as well as a treatment consultant for the NBA and the NFL. He also specialises in death row cases, and has interviewed a number of high-profile serial killers, including Ted Bundy and Aileen Wuornos. Professor Toomer carried out the psychological assessment of Wuornos prior to her trial, where she discussed her troubled life and transition to serial killing in unprecedented detail.

Michael Ross with Dr Fred Berlin

Dr Fred Berlin is an American psychiatrist and sexologist specializing in sex offences. Dr Berlin has been an attending psychiatrist at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore since 1978, where he also founded the 'Sexual Disorders Clinic'. He has appeared as an expert witness in numerous high-profile trials, including that of Jeffrey Dahmer. Dr Berlin testified for Ross at trial, and also supported him through his attempts to bring forward his death penalty.
