• The strange decision-making behind the story (and yeah… we noticed EVERYTHING )

 We just stepped out of a private screening of SUPER MARIO GALAXY…

…and baby, we got THOUGHTS.

 This one gets a strong 75%.

Which means yes — they actually came back and did what needed to be DONE.

Because after that first movie?

 We had questions.

Concerns.

Doubts.

Maybe even a little emotional damage.

But THIS time?

 Bigger world

 Better visuals

 More ambition

 More “okay wait… now y’all cooking”

This episode, we get into:

• Why this movie feels like Nintendo finally decided to stop playing with us 

• Jack Black absolutely eating as Bowser like this is lowkey HIS franchise now 

• Brie Larson pulling up as Rosalina with full cosmic princess energy 

• Glenn Powell entering the chat as Star Fox like somebody in the casting room was feeling REAL bold 

• And the one thing that took a CHUNK out of the score…

 What did they do to Yoshi??

Yes.

We have to talk about it.

Because if you know, you KNOW.

And if you don’t?

Oh, trust… we’re going there. 

This movie really said:

“What if Mario got bigger, weirder, more galactic, more emotional, more cinematic…

but still kept enough chaos to make the crowd lose their minds?” 

And honestly?

That part works.

A LOT of it works.

The visuals?

 Gorgeous.

The scale?

 Huge.

The fan-service moments?

 Oh they knew exactly what they were doing.

There were multiple times we were sitting there like:

“Okay wait… why is this actually hitting??” 

BUT because this is MAN ON FILM…

you already know we’re not just here to clap and smile.

We’re asking the REAL questions:

 Why is one of the most beloved Mario characters getting treated like an afterthought?

 Why did Bowser almost run off with the whole damn movie by himself?

 Why does Luigi seem like he’s having a whole separate little emotional journey?? 

 And why are certain princesses looking at Mario like they got plans beyond the galaxy?? 

We also break down:

• The moments that made us laugh

• The scenes that genuinely gagged us visually

• The post-credit setups that got us READY for the next one

• And whether this is finally the Mario sequel that gives the franchise real staying power

Because let’s be honest…

This isn’t just about whether the movie is “good.”

It’s about whether Nintendo and Universal finally figured out how to turn this into a real movie universe.

And from what we saw?

 They might actually have something.

This movie is:

 Bloody

 Stylish

 Funny in all the right sick ways

 And just wild enough to have us sitting there like…

“Wait… is this Kill Bill 3 with Satan??” 

We’re diving into:

• Zazie Beetz kicking ass like prison turned her into a full-blown action demon 

• Patricia Arquette bringing weird, spooky medium energy like she got direct service from Hell 

• Heather Graham catching chaos in the most ridiculous ways possible 

• And a whole devil-rich-people-immortality setup that had us like…

 “Oh… so THIS is what the co-op fees are paying for?” 

And yes… we gotta talk about the pig.

Because when we say pig…

We do NOT mean cute little farm animal energy 

We mean:

 Rotting devil pig

 Sign-your-name-on-the-flesh pig

 Tentacle / esophagus / nightmare-fuel pig

And once that thing starts doing TOO much?

Yeah…

…we had questions. 

This movie really said:

“What if rich people made a blood deal with Satan for immortality…

but make it stylish, slashy, funny, and just a little unhinged?” 

And honestly?

That part kind of works.

BUT — we still keep it real over here:

 The Tarantino influence is LOUD.

Like… LOUD loud.

At certain points we were like:

“Sir… Quentin would like his movie back.” 

Because this thing is giving:

• Black exploitation throwback energy

• Samurai revenge movie vibes

• Horror-comedy bloodbath chaos

• A little Cabin in the Woods

• A lotta Kill Bill with demons

And of course…

We break down the REAL issues:

• Did the ending go one step too far? 

• Was the final pig-head sequence genius… or just plain TOO MUCH? 

• Are these rich-people-in-satanic-cults movies trying to tell us something?? 

• And how exactly did our heroine come out of prison fighting like John Wick’s long-lost cousin?? 

Let’s be clear:

This is not the scariest movie of the year.

It’s more like:

 Gory

 Clever

 Campy

 Entertaining as hell

So if you like your horror with laughs, blood, weird visuals, and a whole lot of “what the HELL is happening?” energy…

This one might be for you.

Overall?

But on the horror-comedy curve?

 80% easy.

Because not every movie should be judged the same — and in its lane?

This one is fun, messy, stylish, and worth the ride.

 UNDERTONE vs MAN ON FILM 

 What happens when a horror movie about a podcast… forgets how podcasts work and what makes a movie interesting?

Yeah.....That’s Undertone. #MinimalistHorror

 SLANTED vs MAN ON FILM 

 What happens when a girl decides the fastest way to fit in… is to become blonde, white, and “socially acceptable”?

Yeah. Slanted goes all the way there.

This week, Andre Xcellence! & Mr. Caravaggio break down one of the boldest, funniest, messiest, most conversation-starting movies of the year — a sharp satire about race, beauty, assimilation, high school politics, and just how far people will go to be crowned acceptable.

An Asian teen, tired of feeling invisible, signs up for an experimental procedure that literally transforms her into a blonde white girl — and from there the movie goes full chaos: prom queen ambition, identity crisis, racial satire, social climbing, creepy “ethnic enhancement” science, and one of the wildest fake commercials we’ve seen in a minute.

This movie is funny, uncomfortable, smart, savage, and absolutely not subtle.

And honestly? That’s what makes it hit.

 Disney’s “Hoppers” hops into theaters with robot animals, insect politics, and a teenager trying to save the environment one beaver kingdom at a time.

This week on Man on Film, we jumped into Disney’s newest animated experiment — a movie where humans can “hop” into robotic animal bodies to communicate with wildlife. Naturally this leads to insect councils, ecosystem debates, and a surprising number of woodland creatures being very chill about the whole “someone might get eaten today” situation.

The story follows Mabel, a rebellious teen who uses experimental tech to connect with the animal world in order to stop developers from bulldozing the nature preserve her grandmother loved. Along the way we get beaver royalty, caterpillar villains, and a lot of Disney-style life lessons about nature, trust, and the circle of life.

But the big question remains…

Is Hoppers the next Toy Story or Lion King?

Or is it just a cute Disney movie you put on so the kids stay quiet while you take an important phone call?

 THE BRIDE vs MAN ON FILM 

Andre Xcellence! and Mr. Caravaggio step into Maggie Gyllenhaal’s bold new monster reimagining THE BRIDE — starring Christian Bale, Jesse Buckley, Penélope Cruz, and a whole lot of gothic chaos.

Is this a horror movie? A gangster movie? A supernatural mystery? A feminist monster epic?

Honestly… it’s a little bit of all of the above.

Andre was all in on this one — calling Jesse Buckley’s performance as the Bride electric, scene-stealing, and powerful enough to nearly go toe-to-toe with Christian Bale himself. Meanwhile Mr. Caravaggio isn’t completely convinced… which leads to one of the most entertaining debates we’ve had on the show in a while.

Along the way we break down:

 Jesse Buckley absolutely taking over the movie

REVIEW BOTTOM LINE: We didn’t watch Scream… We "SCREAMED" at it. ☠️

Yeah,

I screamed.

At the screen.

At the script.

At Ghostface.

At the studio executives.

At Gail Weathers’ lighting team.

Let’s begin.

 The Premise (And The Problem)

They brought somebody back.

And then didn’t bring them back.

And then kind of brought them back.

You know what? If you know, you know.

That’s enough.

But here’s the thing — if you’re gonna resurrect chaos, you better commit.

Give it a three-picture deal.

And for a moment? We had it.

After Six movies of Ghostface being harder to kill than a Fast & Furious character, did this latest return arrive in a fun way?

and the classic members of the cast.....Bored. Including Nev Campbell.

And don’t get me started on Gail.

 Gail Weathers (Or Her Weathered Clone)

I kept asking in the theater:

“Who is that?”

They kept saying: “That’s Gail.”

I said: “No it’s not.”

Respectfully…

Now let’s discuss the real horror.

Sidney Prescott survived SIX movies.

SIX.

and Her daughter had zero survival instincts.

No Rambette energy.

No “my mom survived 60 stabbings so I trained in Muay Thai at 7” vibes.

Nothing.

We was in the theater yelling:

“Hit center mass! TWO shots! CLACK-CLACK!”

Nope.

Angst. Confusion. Bad decisions.

 Logic? Never Met Her.

The town shuts down.

There’s an active killer.

And the main character says:

“You know what we should do?

Hang out. Together. In public.”

That’s not bravery.

That’s accessory charges.

Welcome back to MAN ON FILM! — the only review show brave enough to ask the real horror question:

“Why are y’all always doing dumb shit on Day 1?”

This week, Mr Xcellence is joined by special guest star Mr. Caravaggio as we dig into This Is Not a Test — a zombie apocalypse flick that tries to be CW romance, end-of-the-world survival, and social commentary… all while the characters repeatedly audition for the role of “First to Die.”

 Zombie Taxonomy Check

We go deep on what kind of zombie movie this thinks it is:

Viral zombies vs. demonic/spiritual zombies

“Rules of infection” logic

Why The Last of Us gets its own category (spores ≠ bites)

And why the best zombie stories aren’t about zombies at all…

Because the real obsession is:

What happens when the rule of law collapses and humans become the apex predator again.

Despite the holes, there is something here:

Atmosphere 

Tension 

A few genuinely creepy moments 

Cast chemistry that suggests sequel potential 

A core idea that could evolve into something stronger 

And the film doesn’t have the “15 seasons of baggage” problem that some zombie franchises drag behind them like a corpse in flip-flops.

RATING: 3 / 6 Zombie Snaps 

(That’s “watchable with complaints,” a.k.a. “I’m mad but I’ll still talk about it for 20 minutes.”)

If you like zombie movies and can tolerate teen-drama logic, you’ll have fun — but if you’re the type who needs rules, realism, and smart survival behavior… you’re gonna be yelling at the screen like we were.

On paper, it had everything—Jacob Elordi, Margot Robbie, Hong Chau, and an old-school classic to remix. But what did we get? A D+ disasterpiece.

 MAN ON FILM – Marty Supreme (2026)

 Ping-pong, pettiness, and problematic men – oh my!

In this high-stakes, high-anxiety thrill ride of an episode, Xcellence and Mr. Caravaggio dive face-first into the chaotic masterpiece (???) that is Marty Supreme. Is it Oscar bait? Or just bait? We ask the important questions:

Gerard Butler is soft-launching his hospice era — limping, coughing, dying mid-movie like he’s got a loyalty punch card with Death itself.

The plot? A fever dream. AI-generated chaos with ChatGPT’s evil twin on the script.

They find France. Yes, France. And somehow walk into it like it’s Costco on a Tuesday.

The end of the world is here, but guess what? Everybody still acting soft.

The son? NOT giving Hunger Games survival vibes. More like he cried over spilled Soylent.

The Black characters? You already know we took bets on who dies first.

BLUE BOOTIES, BAD COLONIZERS & WHERE THE BLACK PEOPLE AT?!

Avatar 3 is here. The water’s clearer, the skies are bluer, the titties are… still just barely PG-13, and yet — still not a single Black auntie selling herbs by the river. What kind of space sequel is this?

In this episode of Man on Film, we dive headfirst into the Na’vi nonsense, the blue-on-blue beef, and a plotline so familiar it might’ve been lifted from an old Power Rangers episode. We’re talking jungle trauma, whale murder for youth serum, and white boys with dreads getting airbending powers — all in one 3-hour movie.

James Cameron gave us visuals for days, but couldn’t give us a single fade, taper, or Black cast member with speaking lines? Mmmkay.

We rate it 4 animated blue booty snaps out of 5, because despite the spiritual appropriation and racial erasure, that water was giving “premium Fiji.”

This is comedy with critique, blockbuster chaos, and a sprinkling of Oh, y’all thought we weren’t gonna say something?

Spoilers? Absolutely.
