Tonight is the final episode of Season 2 and we are going to be tasting 2019 Marani Akhasheni Saperavi from the Republic of Georgia in what was known as the Soviet Union. Saperavi is a late harvest grape so it is a semi-sweet red wine.

Here is a fun fact, Georgia has over 500 identifiable indigenous grapes varieties. Can you believe that? I could do multiple seasons of this podcast just covering indigenous grapes from this one country alone and they have been producing wine for over 8,000 years. How cool is that?

Saperavi is also another teinturier grape, which means the flesh on the inside is colored as well as the outside. Most grapes either red or white have white flesh inside the grapes. This wine boasts a beautiful purple hue with a hint of red, has high tannins and really high acidity once you swirl it around in your mouth. It is full of black fruits like plum and currants and has cigars and cinnamon wrapped in there as well. it is a very full wine with a wonderful mouthfeel that seems like it will never leave your mouth wanting for more.

Saperavi would pair wonderfully with any style of Pizza or Pasta but, could also be served with dessert. With an 11% alc. content, you will be feeling fine with a glass or two. At a $13 price point, it is a win-win. If you would like to partner with me on Mo Wine bringing you really cool wines to drink from all around the world, go to Buy me a Coffee or a Glass of Wine.

See you next time for Season 3.
--- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mo-wine/support

Hosted on Acast.
Tonight we are tasting a wine from Croatia. We will be reviewing the 2018 Vina Skaramuca Plavac Mali, which is grown along the Dalmatian Coast on the southern part of Croatia. This wine has a gorgeous ruby color with excellent clarity. On the nose, there is nothing but dirt, plums, and blueberries. Its intensely long finish is rounded off nicely with some herbaceous undertones, medium tannins, and well-balanced acidity. The alcohol content is on the higher side at 13%, so you are going to need to pair this with some meat, like a pot roast or some steak and creamy potatoes. If you are not a carnivore, you can have a beautiful pairing with some mushroom risotto. If you are a fan of Zinfandel, then you will definitely enjoy Plavac Mali. If you are having trouble finding this in your local wine store, click here. #Princeandplavacmali --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mo-wine/support

Hosted on Acast.

Tonight we are tasting the 2016 Confidencial Tinto Reserva. This is a beautiful, bold, 90 point banger that is super sexy. It does have a muted bouquet on the nose, but once you give it some more air it really reveals itself quite nicely. With its dark ruby hue, I can already tell that there is going to be some prominent cherries dancing around on my palate. I love the wood on this wine because it plays its position. It lets the fruit and the pepper notes shine. It slides the minerality of the wine to the second base and brings us all the way home with the muted wood undertone.

Feel free to pair with some spinach and mushroom-based dishes or some roasted meat meals. Or, you could just rock the bottle solo.

There is almost a chalkiness to it because it is grown primarily in limestone soil. So just to wrap it up.

Color - Ruby

Bouquet - Cherry and Peppercorn

Low to medium acidty

Medium Tannins

Palate - Dry with prominent minerality and cherry flavors

If you would like to keep some of your coins and save on shipping, you can use my referral code. http://winetext.com?wcr=43fcf6bf

You can support the Podcast at https://www.buymeacoffee.com/mowineforu
--- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mo-wine/support

Hosted on Acast.

Tonight we are tasting the 2019 Passaros from Anselmo Mendes. Loureiro is a white wine grape from Portugal in the Northern region of Portugal.

Here is a fun fact, Portugal has 350 different indigenous wine varietals. Did you know that? I think that is pretty cool. This wine is very zippy, full of mouth-puckering acidity and a freshness that can only be associated with a warm breeze on a summer night. What I love about this wine is that there are no tannins in this wine. Can you imagine tannins on top of that acidity in white wine? Ain't nobody got time for that.

This is a very young, light-bodied wine that I can only see being paired with Sushi or some sort of fish dish. I love the light lemon hue of the wine and it has just the right amount of length on the finish. Just beautiful at a price point of around $14 or so. Don't miss the opportunity to try this wine. It is lower in alcohol at around 12%, which is just fine for white wine.
--- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mo-wine/support

Hosted on Acast. So let's get into it, it's, it's so like I said the color is gorgeous. Just seems really deep, dark red grape, but it's like inky purple like almost bordering like if wine could be black, it probably would be black. But, um, yeah. You know I tried to give it a lot of air because I wasn't, I didn't know what to expect so I was trying to give it a lot of air. So, but the color I mean, I just love it you know purple is my favorite color so I'm down with anything that has any type of purple in it but it's a, it's a clear wine it's really the colors just intense, intense purple. So let's get into the nose because the nose, always knows

So, it tastes like a fruitcake, in a glass, that's what it tastes like. It's not as sweet as ice mine but it is a sweet wine and I know, tons of people. Tons of people that adore sweet wines, and, ladies and gentlemen, if you are listening this evening. Henri Bouchet planted the grape in the mid-1800s and comes from the red-fleshed Teinturier grape variety. It has also found great success in Spain and Portugal. Teinturier literally means “dry” and is a cross between Petit Bouchet and Grenache.

We are having the 2017 Coelheiros from Portugal. It boasts a beautiful deep purple hue with an intense nose of black fruits, olives, and chocolate with a spicy finish. It is a bold wine that has 14% alcohol and should be prepared with a hearty vegetarian meal and grains or. Perhaps some lamb or BBQ.

This will be one of the times where you can definitely break out your finest decanter and let it breathe for 30 or so minutes.
