Los Dos Dipestos - Part Two

SYNOPSIS:

When Agnes’s mother, Clara Dipesto, arrives in Los Angeles for a visit, she has just come from a holiday in Mexico. While she was there, she was given a complimentary souvenir on a tour, which she brings as a gift for Agnes. Unbeknownst to Clara, stolen jewels have been planted in the statue to be smuggled into America.

Agnes approaches Mr. Addison for a raise, as she wants to look after her mom for the duration of her visit. On their way back from brunch, Agnes and her mother are followed, and hence a Moonlighting car chase begins. Agnes avoids the car that was chasing them but returns to her home to find that it has been ransacked. Agnes leaves her mother at Blue Moon to keep her safe while she and Bert begin investigating the case.

Several unsavory characters are on the trail to retrieve the statue and are willing to do anything to get it back. A funny hallway sequence ensues to the music of the William Tell Overture. Agnes and Bert save the day and capture the thieves in a very unusual and creative way.

Cybill Shepherd does not appear, and Bruce Willis appears only at the beginning and end of this episode.

Father Knows Last - Part Two

SYNOPSIS:

Maddie’s mother has guessed that Maddie’s pregnant due to her constant morning sickness. Meanwhile, back at Blue Moon, the furniture is being repossessed, as the bills haven’t been paid in David’s absence and the employees begin to rebel. Herbert’s dictatorial leadership skills are not helping the situation so the employees demand, “No work and pay!”—and walk out. David returns to Blue Moon to find Agnes and Bert in an empty office. Maddie’s father turns up to speak to David. He’s found out about the pregnancy and wants David to “do the right thing.” David has a fight with Agnes back at Blue Moon, which makes him realize he needs to fully explain the situation to Mr. Hayes. He rushes to the airport and boards the same plane as Mr. Hayes to explain his relationship with Maddie in real detail and to tell him how much he loves her. They resolve their differences on the plane. Mr. Hayes apologizes and gives David a check to restore Blue Moon’s financial situation. The next morning, David arrives at Blue Moon being rolled in on Maddie’s desk by men replacing the furniture. He makes a speech about how the business is now back operating as normal. The episode ends with David reading a book on fatherhood.

SYNOPSIS:

The lines often get blurred in Moonlighting, and this is one example. David is still in prison, and nobody knows where he is. It’s not only his friends who are wondering where he is; it’s also network executives. They seek the services of a fortune teller, who uses a crystal ball in an attempt to locate David, but all she sees are bars. Following this, they begin auditioning to find a replacement. We begin to see the auditions, with men in line all dressed up in various outfits that David wore in previous episodes. David is released from solitary confinement and placed in a work gang, where his fellow convicts advise him to marry Maddie.

Bert is using his new, temporary title of Blue Moon supervisor, awarded to him by David, to put the employees in line. David witnesses illegal activities by a prison guard, who is about to kill him, but fortunately, a riot starts, allowing David to escape unnoticed. Agnes and Bert decide to start investigating the whereabouts of “Mr. Addison.”

The episode features a lengthy musical number performed by the prisoners in the style of "When I Was a Lad" from Gilbert and Sullivan's H.M.S. Pinafore.

Cool Hand Dave - Part One

SYNOPSIS:

Agnes is so excited when she hears the news that Maddie is pregnant. Unfortunately, she can’t keep it to herself for long, and tells Bert. But states in uncertain terms that he is not to tell David.

But Bert can’t help himself and goes straight into David’s office to inform him. David races to the airport to catch a flight to Chicago. In the airport lounge, he is tricked by convict Scott “Mad Dog” Hundley, on his way to prison, and they switch places. He ends up going to jail in Hundley’s place.

Agnes is giving herself a facial when she realizes Bert is below her window with his Uncle Phil’s band, serenading her with the song “Sexual Healing.” She lets him into her apartment and tells him that she is worried because Miss Hayes said that Mr. Addison never showed up in Chicago.

Maddie's parents are still concerned about their daughter. They attempt to cheer her up by throwing a party at their home, which only makes her more agitated. At the party, she meets the doctor from across the street. She informs him that she’s been feeling off-kilter of late. The doctor offers to give her a checkup, as he has to stop in at the hospital to see a patient anyway. Back in Los Angeles, David continues to brood. Bert and McGillicuddy fight for Agnes’s affections, and Bert is enraged, feeling he has lost Agnes for good.

Maddie finds out she is pregnant and decides to call Agnes and let her know. Maddie leaves a message on her answering machine but emphatically states that she is not to tell David.

Take A Left At The Altar - Part Two

SYNOPSIS:

David is saddened that he hasn’t heard from Maddie, as it has been a week since she left. Maddie’s parents are worried about her, believing she is hiding something due to her mysterious behavior.

In the meantime, Blue Moon is hired by a man to find a groom who went missing on his wedding day. The man is the bride’s brother and wants David to find him and for the groom to go through with the wedding. So David and Bert get on the case. While they are on this man’s trail, David and Bert find out that the groom is already married. Subsequently, the groom is found dead, and they believe that the client is the chief suspect.

SYNOPSIS:

Donald Chase arrives and wants to hire Blue Moon to locate a woman whom he met at a charity event. He doesn’t know her name; he only has one of her valuable earrings and reports that she has a beauty mark on her face.

David and Bert begin to investigate the Chase case. David becomes enraged and smashes Maddie’s BMW in the underground garage. This episode includes another fantasy sequence, in which Maddie and David are depicted in Claymation.

Come Back Little Shiksa - Part One

SYNOPSIS:

David is feeling good about the night before in the laundromat and even tells Agnes that he finally has Maddie “in a relationship.” He is unaware that Maddie has left Los Angeles and is now at her parents’ home in Chicago. Donald Chase arrives and wants to hire Blue Moon to locate a woman whom he met at a charity event. He doesn’t know her name; he only has one of her valuable earrings and reports that she has a beauty mark on her face. Maddie’s parents are immediately suspicious, given that she has turned up unannounced at their home and is not being forthcoming about the duration of her stay. David and Bert begin to investigate the Chase case and track down the woman he’s looking for in a department store. Melissa reveals to them that she is on the run from her very dangerous husband and believes that David and Bert are out to kill her. This episode includes another fantasy sequence, in which Maddie and David are depicted in Claymation.

A Trip To The Moon - Part Two

SYNOPSIS:

Maddie and David have been together for a month, and she is wondering where their relationship is going. David tries to resolve the situation by taking her out on a proper date. They get a late start on the evening and end up at a laundromat, where they discuss their relationship, dance to the Muzak, and express their love for each other, but she still doesn’t know what she wants. Maddie leaves David in the laundromat saying she needs to be alone and think. She goes home, and the next thing you know, she’s on a plane, flying off into the sunset. Grace and Shawna interview Curtis Armstrong, who became a regular member of the Moonlighting series from season three.

Curtis explains how he has reached the milestone of 50 years in the business. He began acting in theatre productions, then moved on to films and TV.

Curtis is best known for his role as "Booger" in Revenge of The Nerds films, and of course, Herbert Viola, Agnes Dipesto’s love interest on Moonlighting.

He played Miles Dalby in the film Risky Business and, Record Producer "Ahmet Ertegun" in the film, Ray. He was "Metatron" on the TV Series Supernatural.

Not only has he worked in theatre, movies and TV, Curtis is also known for providing his voice for such characters as "Maru" in the animated film Planes: Fire and Rescue, "Ezekiel the Cockroach" on Doom Patrol, and "Robot Default" on Robot and Monster.

SYNOPSIS:

It’s the morning after Maddie and David have slept together, and each has a different perspective on the evening. While David is in a wonderful mood thinking that he’s finally got Maddie in his grasp, she wants to pretend that “last night never happened.” Maddie suggests they make “a pact” that their sleeping together not only did “not happen,” but will not happen again. David refuses her “pact,” and is hurt. Ultimately, they end up making love again . . and again throughout the episode.

Meanwhile, a wealthy heiress, Margaret Kendall, approaches Blue Moon to prove that her boyfriend loves her and is not after her money. Margaret’s father disapproves of the relationship and is willing to do whatever it takes to stop it going any further to protect his assets. She wants to prove her father wrong.

Shawna travelled to Melbourne, Australia to meet Grace for the first time. This is the first time they have recorded together in the same room!

SYNOPSIS:

Maddie arrives home in the morning after a night on the case with David. While Maddie is asleep, Sam pays a visit to David asking him to back off from his relationship with Maddie.

Sam is upset that Maddie is noncommittal with her answer to his proposal. Agnes and Bert go to David's office to urge him to talk to her as Maddie and Sam are on their way to dinner when David rushes down to confront them in the garage and ends up having a fistfight with Sam, known as “the barrage in the garage.”

Maddie ultimately decides she is not ready for marriage but wants to give Sam “one for the road.” However, she is shocked to find that it is David, not Sam, in her bed. A fight ensues between Maddie and David over what’s just happened, and they end up making love.

Maddie's Turn To Cry - Part Three

SYNOPSIS:

Herbert continues to work on the McClafferty case that started in the previous episode. The case involves uncovering whether their client’s lover is betraying her by falling back in love with his wife. Maddie and David work a stakeout and witness McClafferty’s wife’s suicide.

Maddie gets home late from the case. Sam is up waiting for her and surprises her with a wedding proposal.

Meanwhile, Maddie explores her feelings between David and Sam. She leaves Sam in the middle of the night and drives to David’s home to find out what he wanted to tell her so urgently the other night when he interrupted her dinner.

They approach the killer, which begins a Moonlighting-style car chase involving a milk truck and a bowling alley. A touching scene unfolds between Maddie and David as they talk about how much fun they have had that evening. Then Maddie suddenly remembers that Sam is waiting for her at home.

Maddie's Turn To Cry - Part One

SYNOPSIS:

Maddie gets home late from the case. Sam is up waiting for her and surprises her with a wedding proposal.

Maddie and David continue to investigate the case.

Meanwhile, Maddie is exploring her feelings between David and Sam. She leaves Sam in the middle of the night and drives to David’s home to find out what he wanted to tell her so urgently the other night when he interrupted her dinner.

They approach the killer, which begins a Moonlighting-style car chase involving a milk truck and a bowling alley. After the killer is captured, a touching scene unfolds between Maddie and David as they talk about how much fun they have had that evening. Then Maddie suddenly remembers that Sam is waiting for her at home.

Sam & Dave - Part Two

SYNOPSIS:

David has learned that the man who opened Maddie’s door at the end of the previous episode is Maddie’s former boyfriend Sam from many years ago. Not only is he well-educated, but he is also an Astronaut! This is a huge blow for David.

Maddie and David are hired by a woman with a strange request. She wants to know if her lover is falling back in love with his wife. David organizes a stakeout that night, but Maddie has a date with Sam and refuses to cancel it.

Later on in the evening, David decides to interrupt their dinner at a lavish restaurant. He has plans to tell her how he feels while Sam is away from the table but is unable to get the words out. Then, just as he is about to, Sam returns to the table.

After dinner, David is quite inebriated and is making a fool of himself in front of the diners. Sam takes David and then goes home and sleeps with Maddie.

Jerry O'Connell - Actor, Producer & Director

Like Grace and Shawna, Actor Jerry O’Connell has been a devoted Moonlighting Fan from the beginning. He shares his memories of being a teenager watching Moonlighting and the effect it has had on his life since.

He began his acting career at a very young age. He got his big break in 1986, when at the ripe old age of 12, he played the role of "Vern Tessio" in the popular film Stand by Me.

Then he had a starring role in My Secret Identity from 1988 to 1991.

In 1993, he starred in Calendar Girl.

In 1996 Jerry landed the role of the superstar quarterback, ”Frank Cushman" in the successful film Jerry McGuire opposite Tom Cruise?

From 1995-1999 he starred in the TV Series Sliders, and also starred in 88 episodes of Crossing Jordan from 2002 to 2007.

If you’re a fan of The Big Bang Theory, you will know that Jerry starred in three episodes as George Cooper Jr. Or should we say “Georgie.”

Currently he is a Co-Host on the CBS Daytime talk show, “The Talk”

He is a talented actor, producer, writer and director.

When Maddie does not react after walking in on a strip poker game David is playing with the employees, he realizes that there is something wrong. After some coaxing, Maddie confides in David that she has been having urges lately to go out “find a man and be bad.” For obvious reasons, he is extremely worried about her, so he decides to follow her.

Later, a woman steals Maddie’s coat and hat in the ladies' room, and David mistakenly follows the wrong woman from a club. After a crazy turn of events, David is implicated in a murder. While he is in police custody, David comes to the realization that he is in love with Maddie. Once he is released from jail, some cops drive him over to Maddie's house at four o'clock in the morning. It's a rainy night when he shows up at her doorstep. He rings the bell and knocks on the door yelling her name, but he gets the surprise of his life when he sees who answers the door.

SYNOPSIS:

Maddie and David have decided to give Herbert Viola more responsibility by putting him in charge of more cases. Agnes is not happy to hear this, as he has been at Blue Moon for only two and a half months and she has worked for Maddie and David for five years. A very feisty Agnes goes to Maddie’s office and tells them both that in those five years, she’s had only one day off and has been late just three times.

Margaret Renbourn arrives at Blue Moon to hire the detectives to find proof that her house is haunted. Without informing her bosses, Agnes decides to take the case on her own. Bert tells Agnes that he didn't just fall off a turnip truck and that he knows what she is up to. Agnes and Bert end up joining forces and solve the case.

SYNOPSIS:

Many other programs have done clip shows that reflect past seasons' best moments. But Moonlighting liked to do things differently. Would we have it any other way?

This episode begins with gossip columnist Rona Barrett, who has arrived at the studio to ask why there is no new episode of Moonlighting (as was so common). Rona enters the offices of Blue Moon to get “The Straight Poop.” She finds out that Maddie and David have not been talking to one another and have locked themselves in their offices.

As Rona talks with Maddie, David, Miss Dipesto, and Bert Viola, clips from previous episodes provide examples of the cast’s answers to her questions.

The episode ends with Maddie and David promising that there will be a new episode next week—and they “kiss and make up.”

Cybill Shepherd - Actress & Singer

Cybill talks about her life with Film Director Peter Bogdanovich, having Orson Welles as a house guest, and behind-the-scenes details about the Moonlighting set and so much more.

Originally from Memphis Tennessee, at the age of 16, she won the Miss Teenage Memphis title. Soon she was being cast in various modelling campaigns and became the “it” girl on the cover of magazines such as Teen and Glamour.

In 1970 Director, Peter Bogdanovich saw Cybill’s image on a glamour magazine, THIS, moment sealed her future in the limelight. He cast her in his upcoming movie “The Last Picture Show” which was a major success. She went on to do “The Heartbreak Kid”, “Daisy Miller”, “At Long Last Love”, and then another success “Taxi Driver”.

In 1985 she was approached by Glenn Gordon Caron to star as Madolyn Hayes in a drama/comedy called Moonlighting.

Most recently she starred in “Being Rose” in 2017, and in 2023 she starred in “How to Murder Your Husband: The Nancy Brophy Story.”

And she shows no signs of stopping!

It's a Wonderful Job - Part Two

SYNOPSIS:

This classic episode, very popular with Moonlighting fans, is an homage to the movie It’s a Wonderful Life, made in 1946 and starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. In the movie, an angel is sent down from heaven to show a frustrated businessman what life would have been like if he never existed.

Maddie is forced to make her employees work over Christmas due to one of their client’s court cases being moved up to December 28. ”While sitting in a bar, she meets a man. Unbeknown to her, this man is an angel sent down from heaven to show her what life would be like without her.

The angel begins to take her to see people and places she knows, showing her what paths they took and how successful they are because Maddie never existed. Maddie now wants her agency back, now that she has seen the life of her friends without her. The episode ends with another passionate kiss between Maddie and David (which is what Moonlighting fans love!).

Atomic Shakespeare - Part Two

SYNOPSIS:

A teenage “Moonlighting”’ fan is forced by his mother to do his homework rather than watch the show. His homework is to read William Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew.”

The show transforms back in time to a day in Padua, Italy, in 1593. The main characters of “Moonlighting”’ enact the remainder of the show with their version of William Shakespeare's play “The Taming of the Shrew”’ in period costume and setting.

Katherina’s father is in search of a suitor for his feisty daughter. Along the way, many in-jokes refer to the real show.

Eventually, Petruchio forcibly marries Katherina while she is tied up in a church, after which he sings a rockin’ version of “Good Lovin’.”

The couple fight, slam doors, and provide us with the usual fast-paced dialogue, but finally fall in love.

SYNOPSIS:

David informs Maddie that he has to leave town for a few days for a funeral, and drops a bomb on her - he’s been married before. Maddie is shocked by the news David told her before he left and Maddie has a dream depicting how she thinks the events in David’s past life unfolded. Maddie decides to follow him to New York.

This is one of Moonlighting’s most iconic episodes that includes a dance number set to Billy Joel’s song “Big Man on Mulberry Street.” The dance sequence depicts Maddie's dream about the relationship between David and his ex-wife. The dance number includes the talents of accomplished dancer, Sandahl Bergman, and choreography by Jacqui and Bill Landrum.

SYNOPSIS:

Maddie is furious when David shows up late, hung over, and without the picture they promised the client in hand. Later, David informs Maddie that he has to leave town for a few days for a funeral, and drops a bomb on her - he’s been married before. Maddie is shocked by the news and decides to follow him to New York, David is happy to see her, but does not want to take her to the funeral - She decides to attend anyway. Once there, she finds that David never showed up to the funeral, but she does meet his ex-wife who gives Maddie some conflicting information about why their relationship ended. All Creatures Great and...Not So Great - Part Two

SYNOPSIS:

A Catholic Priest becomes infatuated with a woman who comes to confession on a regular basis. In her last confession, she informs the Priest that she thinks she wants to die. She leaves the confessional and he is unable to catch up with her only seeing the taxi cab drive away.

He decides to hire Blue Moon to find this woman even though he doesn’t know her name or what she even looks like.

During their investigation, Maddie and David find the woman but are surprised to find that on the surface she seems to be happily married, which totally contradicts what the Priest said. They are now in a dilemma on whether to tell the Priest that she is married.

When the woman apparently commits suicide, Maddie solves the crime when she realizes that the woman couldn’t have killed herself due to the length of the gun.

So as always, Maddie and David are on the case to find the killer.

Yours, Very Deadly - Part Two

SYNOPSIS:

A married woman approaches Blue Moon to help find a man that she has been corresponding with. She says he is her secret admirer. She wants Maddie and David to contact this man and inform him that the letter-writing must now stop.

While Maddie and David are investigating the case, both the woman and the secret admirer both die. The woman is murdered and the admirer jumps out of the window of his apartment. However, Maddie and David believe they died under mysterious circumstances.

This episode introduces a new character to the Moonlighting Team, Herbert Viola played by Curtis Armstrong (uncredited in this episode) who will become a love interest for Miss DiPesto, played by Allyce Beasley.

Moonlighting The Podcast Swing Theme Music

Grace and Shawna decided to choose Swing Music as their theme, and specifically purchased the rights as a homage to the iconic episode "The Dream Sequence Always Rings Twice." Even though this episode is set in the 40s era, they thought it was fitting to utilise this type of sound, as Swing Music was a style of jazz that developed in the United States during the late 1920s and early 1930s. It became nationally popular from the mid-1930s. Big Bands of the time as well as the Bandleaders such as Benny Goodman were a dominant force in American popular music from 1935 to 1946. This was known as the Swing Era when people were dancing to tunes such as the Lindy Hop. The word "Swing" is used as a term of praise for playing that has a strong groove or drive. Some examples of Musicians from the Swing era include Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Cab Calloway, Jimmy Dorsey, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Woody Herman, and of course Glenn Miller. Swing has its roots in 1920s dance music. Unfortunately, during the World War II era, Swing music began to decline, but after the war, "Bebop" and "Jump Blues" gained popularity.

A large portion of his website is Fan Fiction, where Moonlighting fans can expand the universe of their favorite show. Ryan has scoured the web to find as much fan fiction and Moonlighting content to have it all in one place for fans to review and upload their own stories, content, and comments. He has also written several stories himself. His aim was to organize the Fan Fiction in chronological order so it would be easy to navigate and review on the site. He has successfully collated a vast amount of Fan Fiction from fans around the world who have taken the time to write some inspiring Moonlighting storylines. Following an argument about their respective expectations of what a date should be, David challenges Maddie to provide him with a "fun" evening out, and he is to show her a "fine" evening out. He decides he’s going to take her to the theatre. He drives all around town to buy tickets but finds that they are all sold out. He thinks his luck has changed when a scalper approaches him with two tickets to the symphony.

Unfortunately for David, these tickets were robbed from a man who was involved in an assassination plot. Maddie and David discover that there is an assassination plot that in a few hours will cause an international incident. The episode culminates with David being forced to take the place of one of the participants in a boxing match promoted by Don King, who makes a guest appearance. This episode includes yet another “breaking the fourth wall” cold-open which includes The Temptations singing their hit song, “Psychedelic Shack”, as well as David talking Maddie into singing and dancing to the song.

The Man Who Cried Wife - Part Two

SYNOPSIS:

A man kills his wife during an argument. He buries her near their log cabin in the woods. But the day after she began harassing him with threatening phone calls. He goes back to the woods to check on the body but it's gone.

So he decides to approach Blue Moon to help him find her.

The Son Also Rises - Part Two

SYNOPSIS:

Blue Moon has been on a two-week break for the holidays and everyone has returned refreshed and ready for work. David arrives still in holiday mode, in his Mexican attire wearing a sombrero, and immediately gets the wobblies in a festive mood by singing La Bamba. David’s father “David Addison Sr.”(played by Paul Sorvino) arrives in town to tell his son that he is getting married and he would like David to be his Best Man. David is very happy for him until he finds out that he knows his father’s bride-to-be. David had a one-night stand with this woman four years ago and goes all out to avoid meeting her. This causes friction between father and son so David Sr asks Richie to be the Best Man instead. David breaks up the ceremony to speak to Stephanie, the bride-to-be in private. During this conversation, David is surprised to learn that after all this, she does not remember him at all.

SYNOPSIS:

A Con-woman named Camille Brand becomes a national hero after accidentally preventing the assassination of a politician.

David and Maddie decide to cash in on the publicity by giving her a job at Blue Moon as a detective. A crooked policeman spends much of the episode pursuing and attempting to arrest Camille.

The episode ends with an extended sequence in which the characters wander right off the show's set into other parts of the studio, and several members of the show's production crew appear on camera as part of the plot resolution.

Funeral For A Door Nail - Part Two

SYNOPSIS:

Depressed after the apparent death of his wife but unable to bring himself to commit suicide, a man decides to hire a hitman to kill him in three days' time so that he can get his affairs in order.

While he is at his lawyer’s office to amend his Will, he looks down to the street below and sees his wife walking down the street towards the building. By the time he runs down to the street, she has disappeared.

He then hires Blue Moon to find her and to also stop the hitman from murdering him. Unfortunately, the client dies anyway in a car bombing, which leads their investigation in a different direction and a new suspect. Maddie also invites David to attend her cousin’s wedding in Chicago with her. He says he would be delighted, but Maddie is not happy about his enthusiasm. They agree to make it a business proposition. David is very disappointed however, when they have to cancel going to the wedding due to this very interesting case.

Witness For The Execution - Part Two

SYNOPSIS:

Maddie and David are approached by an elderly man called Lawrence Everette, to assist him in witnessing a murder, his own. He says he has hired someone to murder him but wants a witness to the murder to ensure that his family receives his life insurance money as it does not pay out for suicide.

Of course, Maddie and David disagree on whether to take the case. Maddie decides that her agency will have nothing to do with it, so David takes the case on his own.

Due to no fault of his own, David is forced to go underground, as he is now a fugitive, being framed for the murder of Mr. Everette. Maddie is now left to solve the case on her own determined to clear David’s name.

The episode contains the first non-imaginary kiss between Maddie and David.

Maddie’s parents Alexander and Virginia Hayes arrive in town from Chicago to attend the wedding of one of her father’s colleagues. Her mother confides that Maddie’s father may be having an affair and that the woman may have followed them from Chicago. Maddie is determined to prove her mother wrong and wants to conduct an investigation, and follow him for a day to see where he goes. David says YUK, you can’t do that, so he offers to take the case for her. Unfortunately at the end of the day, David has to break the bad news to Maddie about what he witnessed and that her father is indeed having an affair. Maddie cannot bring herself to tell her mother the truth, so instead launches a furious attack on her father, who then tells her that the affair is over and it will never happen again. This episode reveals a close relationship between Maddie and her parents, something which has not been mentioned before.

SYNOPSIS:

David and Maddie are hired to watch over the body of an escape artist who died as part of a magic trick, attempting to escape out of a tank of water. Before he died, he often threatened his wife that he would come back from the dead and kill her for all of her indiscretions.

The widow is now afraid for her life so she hires them to watch over the body. They spend the night in the morgue, but in the morning they realise that the corpse has disappeared. Not long after this, the widow is found dead after a mysterious car accident. The plot twists when Maddie and David discover that the escape artist is in fact still alive and involved in a diamond heist, during which he seemingly dies again.

SYNOPSIS

Agnes is in a rut and is looking for some excitement in her life. So Maddie and David give her their tickets to a top industry banquet.

She meets a man who gives her a number to keep and that he will be back for it. They meet up the next day for coffee only for him to be stabbed when she is called away to a phone call.

This leads to her involvement in an espionage operation which sees her kidnapped and interrogated to find out where this number is.

She manages to escape to a laundry, and discovers that it is being used by spies to hide stolen plans. But the bad guys need the number as it is the number of the laundry bag where the plans are being hidden.

Her adventures lead her to conclude that she is happy with her life after all.

SYNOPSIS:

A wealthy but lonely man hires the detectives to find him a suitable wife. He provides them with a description of his perfect mate which he has been unable to find.

Although Maddie initially does not want to take the case as Blue Moon is not a dating agency, Maddie and David eventually decide to go their separate ways, each finding a candidate based on their own ideals. The client seems to choose the woman selected by David, but then it transpires that not only did he choose both women, but that he was already married.

When they attempt to confront him, they find the woman chosen by David dead and the client in the hospital, which leads them to discover his true scheme. He is the biggest bigamist in bigamy history.

LIVE EVENT - 'Twas The Episode Before Christmas

Grace and Shawna review this episode during their first-ever live event with devoted Moonlighting fans on 25th June 2022.

SYNOPSIS:

A man who is in the witness protection program dies when a man who he is about to testify against throws him over the balcony. His wife Mary and the baby manage to escape and Mary takes the baby to Agnes’s apartment to keep him safe. Mary then approaches Blue Moon to find her baby. During their investigation, Maddie and David encounter the three kings, (three FBI agents), at Agnes’s apartment building, who are investigating the murder of Joseph to ensure that there was no foul play. David makes a great entrance with a great impersonation of Santa Claus. The final minutes of this episode is another example of Moonlighting breaking the fourth wall as Bruce and Cybill walk out of Blue Moon onto the rest of the sound stage where all the cast, crew, and their families are gathered for a special segment singing The First Noel in acapella for the viewers to wish them a very Merry Christmas.

Atlas Belched - Part Two

SYNOPSIS:

A rival detective agency makes an offer for Blue Moon, and Maddie is seriously considering it. Maddie breaks the news to David. Not happy with this news, David storms off. Whilst sitting in a bar, he meets a man played by Mark Linn-Baker who is about to be sacked because his employer’s prized Rolodex of celebrity phone numbers has been stolen. Once he finds out that the man’s employer is a very wealthy and successful banker, David decides to help the man find the Rolodex. He sees this as a way to save Blue Moon by acquiring Thornton Wellman as a client. He goes to Maddie’s house to tell her the good news, however, it’s too late, Maddie informs him that she has already sold the agency. David decides to leave Blue Moon to set up his own agency. A madcap series of events occur causing Maddie to have a change of heart about selling the agency. Does Maddie get her Agency back? Watch & listen to find out!

Portrait Of Maddie - Part Two

SYNOPSIS:

A painter who is obsessed with Maddie, completes a painting of her. He calls the gallery to let them know that it is ready to be collected, then commits suicide. Maddie purchases the portrait from the Gallery, only to gift it to the painter’s brother who shows up at her office the following day. The brother then dies the following day in the same manner and in the loft of his brother’s apartment. The police now suspect Maddie of foul play, as she is in the portrait and that she purchased the painting only for it to show up at the loft where two men were murdered. It transpires that the artist and the brother were part of a trio of international art thieves. The surviving accomplice shows up at Maddie’s home who is convinced that the portrait of Maddie holds a clue to where another painting "The Duchess" has been hidden. A colourful climactic scene ensues when the real killer is revealed in an auto painting shop when Maddie and David, all covered in paint, use a car as a weapon to corner the killer.

Knowing Her - Part Two

SYNOPSIS:

Maddie has a bad morning trying to change her flat tyre in the rain. After she arrives at the office, a wealthy client called Gillian Armstrong, played by Dana Delaney, walks into Blue Moon and asks Maddie to find the locket that her grandmother gave her that has been stolen from her hotel room.

David walks in stunned when he sees the client because he used to be in a relationship with her. Blinded by his emotions for Gillian, David begins to suspect that her estranged husband is trying to kill her when she is in a series of apparent accidents, one of which he witnesses.

Gillian shoots her husband during a confrontation in his car. This is witnessed by David who confirms with the police that it was a matter of self-defense. However, Maddie is not convinced.

SYNOPSIS:

After Maddie walks in on a limbo contest in the office between David and her employees, she has a wager with David that he can’t behave like a mature adult for one week.

If he loses, he must fire two employees, whereas if she loses she must limbo in front of all the staff and pay David $3000. A vvery rich client walks in, a woman whose stepson, who is a gifted concert pianist, has been kidnapped and the kidnappers want $100,000 for the return of her son. She has come to them so that they can negotiate for her son’s life with built-in incentives for them if they get him back cheaply. When they go to drop off the money, they find out that her son is the actual kidnapper. However, they are both shocked to find that he has been kidnapped again the very next day. The effort to act so maturely takes its toll on David, which in turn changes the office atmosphere for the worse, as all the employees turn against Maddie. This episode was pre-empted by the third game of the 1985 World Series on October 22, 1985.

SYNOPSIS:

This iconic episode is a tribute to 1940s film noir, shot mostly in black and white from approximately 12 minutes into the episode. It was mainly shot on location at the Aquarius Theatre.

Maddie and David learn of a murder committed at a 1940s nightclub, by the current owner. Each dream the role of the convicted murderer and the circumstances leading to the crime, but each dream sequence is coloured by the bias of the dreamer.

Cybill Shepherd performs the Big Band songs “Blue Moon" and "I Told You I Love Ya, Now Get Out!"

Orson Welles introduces the episode to alleviate the viewers' concerns about when the episode turns to black and white and that there is nothing wrong with their television set.

This was his last performance which was filmed exactly one week before his death.

Money Talks, Maddie Walks - Part 2

SYNOPSIS:

Maddie learns that her ex-accountant has started a new life in Argentina and bought a Casino with the millions of dollars that he stole from her.

She is determined to travel there and confront him, against David's advice. When she travels there, she approaches her ex-accountant Ron Sawyer, but soon finds out she won’t be getting her money back.

David arrives in a timely manner while she is drowning her sorrows in the Casino Restaurant at the expense of Sawyer.

The finale involves a poker game in which Sawyer loans her $100k to play. Maddie stakes everything she owns on the game, her car, her BMW, and the Blue Moon Detective Agency.

At the end of the game, David convinces her to fold and they leave the room. Maddie then returns to the room, very curious as to who had the winning hand. She finds out that she did in fact have the winning hand. Furious that David told her to fold, she leaves David stranded in Buenos Aires with no money.

SYNOPSIS:

David and Maddie are hired by a mysterious woman in a veil to track down an ex-boyfriend who threw acid on her face many years ago, in a fit of anger once he found out she was to marry another man.

She claims she wants to give him another chance, but shortly after they find him, Maddie and David find out he has been murdered.

They later discover that the person who actually hired them was an impostor and they now must find the real killer. This leads to a chaotic and hilarious chase scene in which four men and women run through the hotel wearing the same dress, veil, and mask.

Glenn Gordon Caron is an American Writer, Director, and Producer, best known for the television series Moonlighting in the 1980s and Medium in the 2000s.

Glenn shares with Shawna and Grace his experiences in creating this Emmy Award-winning TV Series. They discuss the behind-the-scenes fast-paced environment due to Cybill and Bruce being in the majority of the scenes. They also chat about the cast and crew, the late scripts, the guest stars, the fast dialogue, the cinematography, the various directors, and dealing with the network to ensure his vision for the show came to fruition. Glenn also talks about his many fond memories of the show, one, in particular, was asking Orson Welles to do an introduction to the episode “The Dream Sequence Always Rings Twice”.

Caron created Moonlighting (1985-'89), a worldwide hit that revitalized the career of Cybill Shepherd and launched the career of Bruce Willis. He was also nominated for four Prime Time Emmy's for his work on Moonlighting between '86 & '87. Glenn won a Writers Guild of America Award for his 1985 pilot script for Moonlighting. This interview is a great insight into the making of Moonlighting!

Brother, Can You Spare A Blonde? - Part 2

SYNOPSIS:

In this first episode of Season Two, David’s brother Richie (Charles Rocket) arrives in town, spending money extravagantly and flirting with Maddie, which makes David jealous. Maddie has just found out that she owes the IRS $35,000. David asks his brother Richie for a loan to help Maddie out but tells him not to say a word about it. David gets angry when due to a mistaken identity, David is attacked by a stranger in the men’s room wanting his money back thinking he is Richie. He has now realized that all this money that Richie has been flaunting does not belong to him. Richie found $100,000 under the hood of his car, but refuses to go to the police as he is sure the money is “dirty”.

The money belongs to a drug dealer, Mr. Navarone, who corners the Blue Moon team at a shopping mall. However, the team scatters the money over a third-floor mall balcony, to the excitement of all the shoppers below and to the dismay of Mr. Navarone. This is the first episode of the series in which David and Maddie break the fourth wall, welcoming the audience back for the second season at the start of the episode.

The Murder's In The Mail - Part 2

SYNOPSIS:

David and Maddie do some moonlighting of their own for a debt collection agency when Blue Moon is short of money.

They discover that one of the debtors has been killed, but when they return with the police, the body has disappeared and a completely different man is at the scene claiming to be the client.

This leads the duo to become involved in an assassination plot and in order to save the suspected victim, whom they know is a Chinese man with a mole on his nose, they must get into a formal dinner event where their successful effort to prevent the murder culminates in a huge food fight amongst all the event's attendees.

SYNOPSIS:

Miss DiPesto wins a competition to join a Murder On The Orient Express-inspired crime game in a train created by her favourite crime author, JB Harland. She is accompanied by Maddie and David to Central Station because she doesn't want to leave her car there overnight.

Due to David's antics on the train, Maddie and David miss leaving the train before it starts off and now have to stay on it since it won't stop for the next 24 hours.

While the train is in motion, JB Harland is murdered. Now everyone on the train is suspicious of each other and Maddie and David are left to solve the crime.

The episode concludes with a showdown atop the moving train with the killer trying to escape.

The Next Murder You Hear - Part 2

SYNOPSIS:

Paul McCain reigns over late-night AM talk radio, KRKD 1040. During the 2 am to 6 am timeslot, listeners call "The Heartbreak Hotline" at 555-HART to pour out their fears, hopes, and dreams. One night, in the midst of a live broadcast, loud, violent staccatos of gunfire burst out across the air, stopping the voice of Paul McCain in mid-sentence. The resulting investigation receives attention and front-page headlines. David immediately sees dollar signs and that it's great publicity for the Agency, but all Maddie sees is they have no client and she turns up her nose at the idea of lonely people calling a stranger on the radio. Maddie and David end up investigating the on-air shooting of the radio talk-show host. The host soon turns up alive, having faked his own death to keep the affair from his boss, but is then accused of the murder of his lover's husband, who was also his boss. Both the host and his mistress hire Blue Moon to prove their innocence, and Maddie and David disagree over who they believe actually did it.

SYNOPSIS:

Blue Moon is hired to provide security at a company run by one of Maddie's friends, which has been plagued by information leaks and sabotage. The company's main competitor Preston Holt, claims that he is getting his inside information from a psychic named Omar Gauss.

David and Maddie discover that the father of Maddie's friend also visits the psychic and conclude that he is selling company secrets, however, the case turns out not to be that clear cut when they discover who is actually behind the whole thing.

SYNOPSIS:

It's Maddie's first day at the office, but as soon as she arrives she realises there is not much happening and not much for her to do.

She confronts David as to why there are no clients and the phones aren't ringing.

In desperation, David runs across the road to a rival detective agency and steals a client, and brings him back to Blue Moon.

This man wants them to find his estranged son, but the plot thickens when Maddie and David realise that everything is not what it seems.

SYNOPSIS:

It's Maddie's first day at the office, but as soon as she arrives she realises there is not much happening and not much for her to do.

She confronts David as to why there are no clients and the phones aren't ringing.

In desperation, David runs across the road to a rival detective agency and steals a client, and brings him back to Blue Moon.

This man wants them to find his estranged son, but the plot thickens when Maddie and David realise that everything is not what it seems.

The Pilot - Part 2

SYNOPSIS:

The series revolved around cases investigated by the Blue Moon Detective Agency and its two partners, Madelyn "Maddie" Hayes and David Addison Jr. With a mix of mystery, sharp dialogue, and sexual tension between its leads, it introduced Willis to the world and brought Shepherd back into the spotlight after a nearly decade-long absence. The show's storyline begins with the reversal of fortune of Maddie Hayes, a former model who finds herself bankrupt after her accountant embezzles all her liquid assets. She is left saddled with several failing businesses formerly maintained as tax write-offs, one of which is the City of Angels Detective Agency, helmed by the carefree David Addison. Between the pilot and the first one-hour episode, David persuades Maddie to keep the business and run it as a partnership. The agency is renamed Blue Moon Investigations because Maddie was most famous for being the spokesmodel for the Blue Moon Shampoo Company. In his audio commentary for the Season 3 DVD, creator Glenn Gordon Caron says that the inspiration for the series was a production of The Taming of the Shrew he saw in Central Park starring Meryl Streep and Raúl Julia. The show parodied the play in the Season 3 episode Atomic Shakespeare.

Grace and Shawna Saari take a look at each Moonlighting episode in chronological order from the Pilot to the end of the fifth and final season. They discuss the direction, the production, the outfits, the lighting, the intricate plots, the car chases, and the tumultuous relationship between Maddie Hayes and David Addison. The Podcast includes Bonus Interviews with the creator, Glenn Gordon Caron, Executive Producer Jay Daniel, and actress Cybill Shepherd, and many more.

It centres on Maddie, a former model who loses most of her financial assets due to her accountant's embezzlement but finds out that she owns a detective agency. She teams up with cocky, chauvinistic investigator David, to run the agency and becomes embroiled in various unusual cases. The series premiered on ABC in the United States with a feature-length pilot episode on March 3, 1985. The series lasted 5 seasons. During its early years, the series was popular with viewers and broke into the top ten of the Nielsen ratings in its third season. When Maddie and David ended more than two years of sexual tension by sleeping together in that season's highly publicized penultimate episode, "I Am Curious… Maddie", it drew an audience of 60 million viewers. The show was also a critical hit, receiving 16 Emmy Award nominations in 1986.

Due to popular demand, it is now streaming on many platforms around the world, drawing in a new generation of fans.
