Björn Jeffery has recently relocated from San Francisco to Malmo (Sweden) and it was great to catch up with him for this episode of the Nordic Future Makers podcast. Björn serves on the boards of ACast and Rovio and is now a technology writer for the Svenska Dagbladet. Before this Björn founded a mental health app called Enjo (acquired by KRY) and was the co-founder of the hugely successful children's app creator Toca Boca. It was fascinating to talk to Björn and in our conversation we talk about different devices, approaches to designing digital experiences and we discuss how to scale an idea and find success too. As always the podcast ends by asking the question 'what are you curious about now?' and Björn gives us a really interesting answer....!

If you have enjoyed the podcast and want to support the efforts that go into it, then please feel free to buy me a virtual fika / virtual drink through my ACast Supporter page here: https://supporter.acast.com/nordic-future-makers

Thank you and hope to catch up with you in the future!

#nordicfuturemakers

(Music by E.Burcher)

Hosted on Acast.
Season 2 of the Nordic Future Makers podcast kicks off by talking to Thomas Hellum from Norway's NRK TV channel - with a little help from Barack Obama. This is the story of Slow TV. The story of how a Norwegian TV broadcaster ended up creating some of the longest and most watched shows in Norwegian TV history. This has started a trend of Slow TV across the world and Thomas tells us how the idea for Slow TV came about and how it has developed - a nice 'slow' start to the second series as we finish our summer vacations and head back to work again. I am fascinated by SlowTV and I hope you enjoy our conversation, plus look out for some bonus podcast content from this conversation in the next few days too! (And if you want to see any of the Slow TV content we talk about, then you can head to the NRK website or search for 'SlowTV' on Netflix, YouTube etc.) Music is by E.Burcher. #nordicfuturemakers

Hosted on Acast.
I spoke to many different people in Series 1 of the Nordic Future Makers podcast. I spoke with people from marketing, media, music and more, heard some great stories and learnt a lot from the experiences of my guests. Artificial Intelligence (AI) came up in a number of these conversations and I thought it would be interesting to pull a collection of clips together into a kind of end of series 'AI Special.' So in this episode of the Nordic Future Makers podcast you will hear excerpts from the previous podcast conversations I had with Bo Hellberg, Daniel Käfer, Jenny Gejke and Lasse Meldgaard. It starts off with Bo explaining what AI is, before going into some more detailed discussion around how AI and Machine Learning can be used. Series 2 of the Nordic Future Makers podcast will be coming soon with more guests from media, marketing, tech, start ups, brands and culture across Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland.
Darude is my guest this week on the Nordic Future Makers podcast! Darude is a Finnish DJ, producer and EDM artist and in this podcast we talk about his big hit 'Sandstorm' and how it keeps coming back - most recently as a weekly ritual to help Finland through the corona virus lockdown. We also talk about how 'Sandstorm' became a hit originally, how it became a thing for Watford FC / sports around the world, how it became a thing for gamers and we even discuss about how 'Sandstorm' became an official YouTube April Fools prank in 2015. Finally, we talk about how Darude has really got into streaming on Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/darude) and have a chat about what it was like to represent Finland at Eurovision in 2019! It's a fascinating conversation with a really nice guy and I think this extended episode is a great way to end series 1 of the Nordic Future Makers podcast (Theme music created by E.Burcher) #darude #sandstorm #nordicfuturemakers #edm #twitch #eurovision

Hosted on Acast.
Ana Thorsdottir, Head of Business Development for EMEA at Tagger Media Influencer marketing platform is my guest this week on the Nordic Future Makers podcast. This week it's a high speed, high energy tour through the 'crazy world of influencer marketing.' Our conversation ends up covering a wide range of areas - including how to select an influencer, how to work with them across different platforms, short term one-offs vs long term ambassador programmes, multi-channel influencer marketing, measurement and B2B. We also have a good discussion about the role of celebrities and the perception of them during the current covid-19 challenges that the world is facing! I hope you enjoy the podcast and I hope you will subscribe to the podcast to hear more Nordic Future Makers - in the future! #nordicfuturemakers

Hosted on Acast.
I recently met up with an old friend, Lasse Meldgaard, to talk about his new start up called SteamRex. Lasse is based in Copenhagen and we spoke for just over 20 minutes in English and covered a wide range of topics. Lasse is a true Nordic Future Maker and I always learn things when I talk to him. In this conversation you'll hear how deep learning and algorithms can be used to create new solutions for old problems. We spoke about his new company SteamRex (https://steamrex.com/) which combines digital, maps, AI and sustainability to disrupt the traditional approach to washing your car, we discussed the sources Lasse uses for inspiration and we heard about his Instagram hot dogs too.
