Dr Meulders obtained her PhD in 2008 at the Center for the Psychology of Learning and Experimental Psychopathology at KU Leuven. In 2009, she joined the Health Psychology lab at KU Leuven as a postdoctoral researcher. In 2012, she did a research visit at the Body in Mind Research Group at UniSA (Australia). She was awarded the prestigious EFIC Grünenthal Grant (2012), and more recently a competitive NWO Innovational Research Grant (Vidi scheme –10% success rate; 2016). Dr. Meulders published more than 70 peer-reviewed journal articles and 5 book chapters. Her work concerns psychological mechanisms in the transition from acute to chronic pain. Her research focused on learning processes in pain-related fear and avoidance.
