In this episode of Comedy Jam, Ross Carpenter is joined by Paul Cooper, one of the stars of ‘This Country’. Ross and Paul talk about how much the actor gets recognised these days, and they dissect the impact of the Covid lockdowns on their lives. Paul talks about his experiences working on various shows, and expresses his views on comedy legends such as Monty Python and Charlie Chaplin. Paul is most notably known for his role as Martin Mucklowe in BBC Three’s hit comedy ‘This Country’, where he stars alongside his children Daisy May Cooper and Charlie Cooper. Paul also discusses his ‘bad guy’ role in the upcoming short-film-turned-feature-film, William Stone’s ‘The Fence’.

Comedy Jam Episode Three

In this episode of Comedy Jam, Ross Carpenter is joined by Trevor Cooper of ‘This Country’ fame to talk about Martin Scorsese’s directing, growing up in Devon and his family’s quirky Christmas traditions. Over Trevor’s astounding 40-year acting career, he’s lived and breathed it all with plenty of great stories to show for it. Trevor and Ross discuss their admiration for Tommy Cooper, Alan Partridge and some more comedy greats. The actor also reminisces over a particularly dark scene in the ‘Lieutenant of Inishmore’ with Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson from the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise and ‘About Time’. Trevor is most notably known for his role as Len Clifton in BBC Three’s ‘This Country’, playing the role of Kurtan Mucklowe’s nemesis. The show has a real family element, with the central characters of Kurtan and Kerry Mucklowe being played by Daisy May Cooper and Charlie Cooper - Trevor’s niece and nephew.

Babblin with Jack and James - Episode Two

The Babblin Boys are back with episode two of their podcast exclusively to Reel Talk!

Having met on set of the award-winning This Country, Mark and Ross look back at the filming process, working with Daisy and Charlie Cooper, and how director Tom George set he and Charlie up for some ad-libbed script development. They look back at Mark’s comedy upbringing, their mutual love of Alan Partridge, and the changing perception of comedy through the 90s.

In the second episode of OFF THE PITCH, Richard Latham talks to Bristol Rovers legend HAROLD JARMAN about his illustrious career with the Pirates as a player, coach and manager.

Harold reveals his allegiance to a certain other club in Bristol as a youngster and how he struggled to begin with to win over Rovers fans, who idolised his predecessor George Petherbridge. He also talks about combining football with life as a county cricketer with Gloucestershire, what it felt like to hear his name “Har-old” ringing around Eastville and how the famous chant originated.

Finally, Harold discusses the season he spent as a star of the North American Soccer League and how when he left New York Cosmos he was replaced by a certain player called Pele.

Off the pitch with Rich Episode 1

RICHARD LATHAM talks to ALAN WALSH, the popular winger with the cannonball shot, who netted 99 goals for Bristol City in five seasons after signing from Darlington in July 1984, many of them spectacular efforts from distance with his powerful left foot.

Alan talks in depth about his City career, including the moment he came within inches of taking the club to Wembley for the 1988-89 League Cup final when his last-minute shot against Nottingham Forest at Ashton Gate came back off a post with the semi-final tie locked at 1-1 on aggregate.

There are humorous reminiscences about one of the early Football League tribunals, which saw his fee for joining City set at just £18,000 when Darlington were demanding £85,000 for the leading scorer in their history, and brushes with two of the biggest characters among managers in Tommy Docherty and Brian Clough.

Alan also reflects on what it has been like to be father-in-law to one of America’s top actors, Kelsey Grammer, star of Frasier and voice of Sideshow Bob in The Simpsons, who married his daughter Kayte in 2011, a union that has led the former City player and wife Sue to mix with many top entertainers during visits to the USA.
