A different view for Charity Shop Sue. Fringe Festival 2026 brings a new character from Selina Mosinski, in her debut Edinburgh Festival appearance with a show called 'Puss in Boots, A Working Class Fairytale' live at the Pleasance.

It gives a view of what life was like for Selina during the 1990's when she was a stripper (for 5 years) under the name of Randy Cain.

Experience the glittering page-three dreams and sticky-carpet ambition of Britain's 90s strip club scene. In her debut character comedy hour, Selina Mosinski, known for playing the icon that is Charity Shop Sue, tells the (mostly true) rise-and-stumble story of her time as stripper Randy Cain. Part confessional memoir, part riotous character comedy, join an ambitious working-class girl from Derby on a mission to conquer it all, or at least Tony and Barbara’s Midlands “Titty Bar.” 

Determined to chase stardom, Randy hitchhikes to London — only to be derailed by an audition at a working men’s club off the A52, where prestige looks suspiciously like a birdcage stage surrounded by dodgy hen dos dressed as Papa Smurf. She lands the gig, and with it, her first taste of show business, sticky floors, chaotic crowds, and dreams held together with body glitter.

The show captures a decade when celebrity culture was gloriously unfiltered — when Jodie Marsh turned underwear into headlines, Gail Porter was projected onto Big Ben, and Monica Lewinsky became global news thanks to Bill Clinton. It was also the boom era of Britain’s strip-club circuit — and Randy was right in the thick of it.

Narrated by Randy’s formidable mum Jackie (Derbyshire’s answer to Bet Lynch from Corrie) — this is a raucous, tender story of ambition, class, and carving out a spotlight when the world insists you belong in the wings.

Johnny ends his interview with a brilliant '90's This Or That' game! .. Time to reminisce.

Olivia Breen brings joy and positivity to the podcast, as her & Johnny chat all things athletics.

Starting her journey in 2012 (aged 16) competing at the London games, Olivia is a Welsh Paralympian athlete, who competes for Wales and Great Britain mainly in T38 sprint and F38 long jump events. She's going for gold again this summer at the Commonwealth Games in Scotland.

Johnny get's Livvy's take on what it's like to be a full time athlete on a daily basis, what she hopes to still achieve in her two sports, and what she wants to do when she ends her time on the track & in the sandpit. First off Johnny talks Turkeys with Paul Kelly.

Paul loves his Turkeys, and has decades of experience making Christmas extra special.

After studying Poultry Science at University in the 1980s, Paul came up with the idea of branching out into breeding the original bronze turkey that originated in Mexico, to differentiate Kelly Turkeys from the crowd. The following year, Derek (Paul's Dad) travelled the country buying up the last remaining flocks of pure bronze turkeys.

Named for its unusual colour, the feathers of bronze turkeys are a shimmering green-bronze, often appearing metallic in sunlight. They are slower grown than white turkeys, and have a distinctive gamey flavour and moist meat with a firm texture. Each bird is grown to full maturity, wild in woodlands through three seasons until dry plucked and hung and prepared. The big break for Kelly Turkeys came in 1989 via Delia Smith. Delia visited the family farm and the KellyBronze turkey became the bird of choice in her new book, ‘Delia’s Christmas.’ Suddenly butchers were being asked by their customers for KellyBronze turkeys and were phoning in their droves — the Kellys had successfully re-established the market for bronze turkeys. The rest is history.

Paul counts Jamie Oliver as a person who works for him, and a host of famous celebrity friends who love the meat his farm produces.

In between a busy working life, Paul found time to claim two Guinness World records for both plucking (2008) and carving a turkey (2009) a record that still stands.

21st December 1988, 19:03:00.

38 minutes after take-off, Pan Am Flight 103, on route from London to New York, explodes at 31,000 feet over Lockerbie, Scotland.

259 people on board the flight (243 passengers and 16 crew members) plus 11 people on the ground die as a result of the explosion.

There were victims from 21 different countries.

The Lockerbie Bombing was the biggest terrorist attack against the United States before September 11th 2001. The bomb blast broke the plane into thousands of pieces

that landed in an area covering roughly 850 square miles. To this day, it’s the biggest crime scene in the UK, and the 2nd biggest to take place in Europe.

Questions around the plane bombing, and justice for the 270 people who died as a result of the attack, have continued for the near-four decades since it occurred.

Johnny speaks to Michelle Ciulla Lipkin & Kara Weitz who both lost family members that night.

Michelle & Kara speak in depth sharing memories, love, grief, the vpaf 103 legacy award, the 6 main goals of the organisation. Plus the actions taken (and still needed) to seek the truth about the tragedy and how they keep the memory of all the victims in connection with Pan Am 103 alive.

The interview is filled with love, laughter and above all memories of those lost in the sky, and how the people of Lockerbie showed love and support whilst dealing with their own tragedy, that devastated a small town, and community.

Fringe Fever has taken over Edinburgh!

From now, and ending late August, the Fringe Festival is here for summer 2025.

In the 3rd Fringe Festival interview, Johnny (after some tech problems and getting the time wrong) finally managed to speak to Kate Owens, who brings 'Cooking With Kathryn' to Edinburgh in her Fringe debut.

Expect eggs, some slight audience/congregation participation & lots of tin foil (or Aluminium foil) for anyone from the USA in this mad, but brilliant 60 minutes.

Award-winning comedian Kate Owens presents her smash hit, critically acclaimed comedy show. Meet Kathryn: the "star" of her own community cookin' show. A wannabe Nigella Lawson, and down-home southern belle with more wine in her veins than Jesus. She's serving up a wacked-out fricassee of absurd recipes for a start, main and final course.

Kate also let’s Johnny in on the origins on the show, her relationship with her parents & what's next for this production. Johnny also discusses the recent cancellation of The Late Show with Steven Colbert on CBS, and wider opportunities for comedy stars.

Kate's show is a wild ride, but one to add to that Fringe list!

This half term, ending Sunday 20 April get ready to explore the challenges of living on a planet with finite resources, through the lenses of science fiction and space exploration, with the theme Spaceship Earth.

‘Live like an astronaut’ in the battle cry of a new movement that urges us to learn from the constraints of living on a space station, or a distant planet, where resources are impossibly constrained and every gram of material and watt of energy is precious. Transferring these principles to life on Earth would radically reduce the pressures we place on natural resources.

Merry March is back for a second year, the Refreshing Podcast hangs out with some of the best comedians on the block.

First up, it's Derek Mitchell, who is on tour with Two Smash-Hit debuts shows 'Double Dutch' and 'Goblin'.

Derek had a highly successful solo run at the Edinburgh Fringe last year, to go alongside his 120 international gigs and the small matter of over half a billion views on social media posting all kinds of small comedy shorts online.

Christmas is coming .... here in just 17 days.

The world’s busiest man managed to spare 5 minutes to chat to Johnny. That's right Santa (AKA ... Saint Nicholas, Kris Kringle, Father Christmas) gave Johnny the lowdown on how you can see him, in Edinburgh at St Andrew Square this year.

He's back for 2024, with daily sessions (roughly 14 per day) right up-to Christmas Eve, in his grotto preforming 'Santa's Stories'

The big man and some very helpful elves will be tucked away in St Andrew's Square ready to welcome children and families and provide a magical Christmas experience. Santa's Stories are group sessions for up to 22 children, however each child will have the opportunity to meet Santa and receive a gift.

Plus, Santa lets Johnny know the secrets on how his reindeer fly & fart, and what he'll be watching on the TV on Christmas Day (as he rests, following his busy night on the 24th Dec).

...Ohh.. and Johnny takes Mrs Collins and his 5 month old baby boy to meet Santa (for Teddy his son, it's his 1st time meeting Santa ever) ... and it was Magical!

As it's Halloween 2024, Johnny speaks to Paul Alland, who's making a name for himself visiting well known grave stones, crime scenes, and the world of paranormal. If it's a little Unusual, Paul probably has it covered, and you can watch it all on his You-Tube channel.

Paul gives a background to his channel, that's grown from 2,000 when Paul & Johnny last spoke, it's now on over 111,000.

It's worth noting that Paul handles every visit, with care & dignity due the nature of the content.

Paul chats Mental Health, what family members think of his grave visits, and the support his subscribers give him. Some of the stories are amazing from Paul's visit.

Johnny also finds out about the funeral for Steve Dymond, who passed away from the combined effect of an overdose and a heart condition. Well publicised after appearing on the now defunct Jeremy Kyle Show* in 2019. Steve has been laid to rest in an unmarked grave. Paul gives Johnny the full details.

The Bruce Wayne of comedy (she’s still working on securing that mansion) has had a busy few years, and in her latest standup Peacock features a look into the world of foster care.

After a few steps forward, and a few steps back, a stage show about fostering has now been signed off.

Kiri brings to light this world via ‘Louise’ … lifting the lid on foster care, and social work, including first aid training and what happens when a local vicar lifts searches your name on the net.

Team GB, Paralympic Games 2024

The Paralympic Games are here for 2024, and Johnny chatted to one amazing athlete competing this year, representing Team GB in the field of Archery, Jodie Grinham.

In a recent article for 'The Athletic' Jodie said “My team have joked a few times that my waters could just break on the podium”

Jodie will be seven months pregnant when she shoots her first arrow in the compound archery competition at Les Invalides on Thursday 30th August.

Johnny discovers what it takes to make it into Team GB, with long hours, and years of preparation for just a few moments that could (and hope) brings home a gold medal back to the UK. Plus find out about Jodie's past achievements, and plans for 2028, and 2032.

Also, how the balance of family life, and the determination that the Paralympic Games wouldn't get in the way of Jodie and her partner extending their current family of three.

Adjustments have been made to accommodate not only Jodie's disability (and find out the background to her training with her Dad, and making archery a full time job) to compete, but what 28 weeks pregnant and counting means for the on field action. Will the little baby-bump make a flutter as Jodie takes her shot?

UEFA Euro 2024 kicks off tomorrow, when Germany play Scotland in the opening game.

From media reports over the past few weeks, around 200,000 fans are heading over to Germany from Scotland. The tartan army is out in force!

In memory of her Dad, Astronaut Michael P.Anderson & the crew of Space Shuttle Columbia’s final flight.

Daughter of astronaut Michael P.Anderson, Kaycee chats with Johnny about her father, who fly 2 missions in space, logging well over 211 hours outside the earth’s atmosphere.

The Columbia STS-107 mission lifted off on January 16, 2003, for a 17-day science mission featuring numerous experiments. 

Upon reentering the atmosphere on February 1, 2003, the Columbia orbiter suffered a catastrophic failure due to a breach that occurred during launch when falling foam from the external tank struck the reinforced carbon carbon panels on the underside of the left wing. 

The orbiter and its seven crew members were lost approximately 16 minutes before Columbia was scheduled to touch down at Kennedy Space Center.

Kaycee speaks about her Dad, from growing up (knowing he always wanted to be an astronaut) and the advice he gave, that she still uses today.

How she got her name, from the roots of her Dad’s US Air Force career.

Plus memories of growing up in the astronaut community, and her take on the morning and events that occurred on Feb 1st 2003. Plus the 21 years since the accident, and the aftershock when pressure built for answers.

In her 1st ever podcast interview, Katie speaks about the Post Office/Horizon Fallout.

Daughter of former SPM Tony Downey, Katie is by default a victim of the Post Office/horizon scandal, and subsequent fallout.

Tony was wrongly accused of stealing £35,800 from the Post Office and had to file for bankruptcy. The whole incident had a terrible impact on his family (in many ways) - that's over 15 years in the making.

Aged 25 Katie has set up a website Lost Chances, that aims to bring together the stories from other children affected by the Horizon/P.O Scandal, and ultimately the group aims to seek and recompense for the opportunities and lost chances.

Katie gives the background to her life, after moving to France aged 11, the struggle for her family to rebuild their existence, finding out later in life about the scandal and how bits of the puzzle have been put together. Plus shares with Johnny where's she's at now & what the future holds. Including trying to get Fujitsu to the table for the help needed for the groups aim(s).

The mission is simple, to redress the chances that were taken from Katie and others in a similar position growing up.

Santa is back at Edinburgh's Christmas this year! The Santa Experience is part of the official Edinburgh Christmas celebrations.

Santa and some very helpful elves will be tucked away in the square ready to welcome children and families and provide a magical Christmas experience. Santa's Stories are group sessions for up to 22 children, however each child will have the opportunity to meet Santa and receive a gift.

You can also write and post any letters that will arrive with lightening speed via the letter writing station & special postbox.

Santa stories runs daily from 10/11am - 6/7.30pm ending on Christmas Eve.

Refreshing Pod is back for a new series, and this summer it's all about the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, as Johnny speaks to a host or acts preforming in August as part of the Fringe, or Free (Fringe) Festival.

Running a venue connected with the arts is not the easiest of tasks, but add the Fringe Festival into the mix and you get something unique.

Johnny caught up with Nick Abrams from TheSpaceUK.

Alex Petty gives Johnny the background to what goes into making the Free Fringe Festival and how it's a yearly operation for just roughly 4 weeks of the year.

Alex chats about the beginnings of the Free Fringe Festival (that began in 2004), and earlier roots in comedy building the Laughing Horse in the 90's and putting on a host of stand up events. Plus the challenges facing anything Fringe related in the future.

It's a great interview packed with history (describing how one performer hosted a show in a chicken coop), memories of artists who have gone to great heights, and how you (or anyone) can get involved in the biggest arts festival in the world from 2024 preforming and showcasing yourself.

He's back in Scotland for the 1st time in roughly 10 years, David Baddiel has a total of 4 shows during the few days of the 2023 festival.

David speaks to Johnny, on what's he is bringing to the stage in Scotland, from his storytelling, with question and answer sessions regarding his two recent publications 'The God Desire' (on how he would love to believe in God, and fantasising about how much better life would be if there actually was such a thing). Plus 'Jews Don't Count' (in this he outlines why and how, in a time of intensely heightened awareness of minorities, Jews don't count as a real minority: and why they should).

David also chats about his more traditional background in stand up comedy, as he revisits 3 gigs covering his life and career over the last 30 years.

Of course, Johnny get's in the subject of Football, and 3 lions, it would be rude not address this, because 2 England fans are chatting about football, with the recording taking place in Scotland, and Frank Skinner (as you might expect) gets a mention or two.
