Rokain’s desperate reach for power may just be the turning point everyone needs – if they can hold on a little longer. With another ooze on its way, Victory or Defeat teeter on the point of a few seconds’ actions.

They follow the whistled summons only to find their way blocked by a dangerous creature known as a Gaunt One which likes to drown anyone it comes across. Grolen isn’t being metaphorical either when he says they will steal your heart. What should be an easy fight instantly proves to be much more troublesome as they all struggle to maneuver in the narrow passageways. Of course, the Gaunt One has no difficulties at all strolling right up to sink its claws into its first victim.

Although prepared for a trap, the source of the screaming might be far more of a punch to the gut than they expected and no one could predict just who needs to be saved.

Journeying deeper into the mysterious mountains of Parzit, the heroes quickly realize their presence isn’t exactly welcomed. Their guide, Grolen, proves he’s worth his weight in gold by helping them avoid some of the most dangerous areas. Still, they must contend with strangling vines, rainbow dodo raptors and pig-tusked weasels, who may or may not want to drink their blood or perhaps become their friend. Even worse, it seems even the mountain itself is warning them to go back and stay away in the most painful way possible.

And, at the end of a long day, a friendly face makes a nighttime appearance.

Precious seconds are ticking away rapidly and Rokain, Ygin and Xelas must think quickly. Optimism says they can surely both stop Tilly and save Remaria, and Experience hasn’t yet taught them there’s advantages in numbers which means it’s time to split the party. Ygin needs to hurry though Remaria’s house is strangely conveniently close; Rokain discovers Xelas doesn’t understand the concept of a chain of command; Tilly finds it easy to smack these ‘heroes’ around; and as for Remaria, time is shortest for her of them all.

Was it truly a ploy to gain the coroner’s job or does Tilly have something else up her devious sleeve? The heroes have a choice they must make and the clock is ticking against them.

Finally on a trail and hopefully headed for answers, they forget something has been on their tail as well. Rokain better shake off his existential horror quickly if he's to have any hope of saving Kayleigh and himself.

It’s a high bar for Xelas and Rokain. Ygin, not so much. Maybe a couple of rounds of blackjack will give them the answers they need.
