Episode 010 with Jerome Rex

Jerome Rex is a hip hop soul singer/songwriter and an unashamed Capetonian. His influences range from KRS-One to Dwele, and from acapella choirs to the Motown legends of the 60s.

As part of the hip hop duo Flow Motion, he recorded his first full-length album which yielded a No.1 single on the Good Hope FM Radio Hip Hop Charts. This was followed by 2 solo projects – a mixtape and his debut studio album, Jerome & Geselskap. The single “Doenit Man” featuring hip hop veteran Siepsokkie spent 18 weeks on the Good Hope FM Hip Hop charts, also peaking at No.1.

His work has been profiled on several commercial and community radio stations, online publications like Word Up Ezine and IAM Magazine, print media with readership as large as The Cape Times, as well as the Kollig TV show on Kyknet.

Jerome also co-hosts Expression Session Kuils River, a monthly platform for creatives to share their talents and connect socially.

Jabulani Tsambo 14 September 1980 – 24 October 2018), better known by his stage name Hip Hop Pantsula, later shortened to HHP recently passed away and we celebrate his legacy is this episode. One of a few South African rappers who has become a household name & a pioneer of the Motswako movement. His legacy lives on through his music, R.I.P Jabba.

Linda Mkhize, better known by his stage name ProKid or PRO, was a South African rapper and passed away 8 August 2018. He was known for rapping in a mixture of South African township vernacular and English on township life or Kasi. A South African HipHop icon who influenced a generation of kids to flex in their own dialects - taking it to higher lengths to what Prophets of Da City pioneered.
