The heart of the sermon is this: “True empathy helps us to be known, loved, and healed in Christ.” In other words, Jesus is the One who truly sees us, understands us, and invites us to His throne of grace. We are to approach Him with confidence in our time of need. However, not everyone are ready to do this directly. Often, they would need someone to mediate that empathy, at least at the beginning. This is the reason why, as His people, we are called to be channels of Christ's empathy to one another. When a church becomes a safe place where people can share their weaknesses and struggles, Christ's empathy will become tangible and real. People will then receive God’s healing grace through their faith in Jesus Christ.

“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.”

When you feel restless, let that feeling lead you closer to Him.

Scripture: Ecclesiastes 1:5–6, 9–10

“The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises. The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course… What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which one can say, ‘Look! This is something new’? It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time.”

Explanation:

The Teacher observes that life seems to move in endless cycles. The sun repeats its course, the wind circles endlessly, and human history seems to recycle itself. When everything feels the same day after day, it’s easy to wonder if your life is actually moving anywhere. Without God, repetition can feel pointless—like you’re running but not getting anywhere.

Application:

With God, even repetitive seasons have value. He works quietly in the routines we often overlook—ordinary days, simple tasks, familiar rhythms. When you invite Him into your daily life, mundane moments become sacred moments. Ask the Lord to help you see His presence and purpose even in the “same old” parts of your week.

Scripture: Ecclesiastes 1:1–4, 11

“The words of the Teacher, son of David, king in Jerusalem: ‘Meaningless! Meaningless!’ says the Teacher. ‘Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.’ What do people gain from all their labors at which they toil under the sun? Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever… No one remembers the former generations, and even those yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow them.”

Explanation:

The Teacher wrestles with the reality that life, on its own, feels empty and fragile. No matter how hard people work or how much they accomplish, everything eventually fades. Generations rise, generations fall, and nothing we do seems to have lasting significance when viewed purely from an earthly perspective. This honest confession captures the frustration we sometimes feel when our efforts don’t produce the results we expected.

Application:

Instead of discouraging us, the passage pushes us to look for meaning beyond ourselves. True significance doesn’t come from achievements, recognition, or earthly success—it comes from God, who sees and values every act done in love and faith. When your work feels unnoticed or unimportant, remember that God’s meaning is deeper and longer-lasting than anything you can build on your own.

It affirms a deep confidence that God’s love transcends every possible barrier, offering victory not by human strength but through the steadfast love demonstrated in Jesus. This unshakable relationship redefines our understanding of security and hope in a world often marked by fear and instability.

Application:

In daily life, this means we can face hardships with courage and peace, knowing that nothing can truly separate us from God’s love. “Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. ” — Romans 8:34

Reflection:

Romans 8:34 highlights Christ’s unique role at the right hand of God, a position of honor and authority that confirms His victory over sin and death. Jesus’ intercession is ongoing and active, showing that He continually advocates for believers before God the Father. This verse assures that no accusation or condemnation can stand against those who are in Christ, because His death and resurrection have removed all judgment. It emphasizes the new life and freedom believers have through Jesus, and the confidence they can have knowing they are fully accepted and supported by God through His ongoing care and intercession. Christ's intercession serves both as our assurance (we are safe) and our vocation (we are sent).

Application:

By staying connected to God and by trusting in Jesus’ ongoing intercession, we can find strength and encouragement each day. Our security calls us to step boldly into our purpose, serving and sharing God’s love to others, knowing that Christ supports and guides us every step of the way.

Reflection:

Many people live under the weight of guilt and shame, believing they’re not enough. But if God Himself declares you righteous through Christ, no accusation—past, present, or future—can stand against you. You don’t have to earn His love or prove your worth. You are fully accepted because of Jesus’ finished work.

Application:

The next time you feel condemned, stop and say, “God justifies me.” Let that truth silence the lies of the enemy and calm the voice of self-condemnation.

Scripture: “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” Romans 8:32

Reflection:

It’s easy to doubt God’s goodness when life doesn’t go as planned. But when you look at the cross, all doubt should fade. If God gave up His most precious gift—His Son—for your sake, won’t He also provide everything else you truly need for your salvation? The cross is proof that God will never withhold what’s best for you, to fulfill His eternal purpose in Christ Jesus for you, even when you can’t see or understand how He’s presently working in the midst of your daily challenges.

Application:

Look at your current worries through the lens of the cross. If God already gave you His Son, trust that He’ll take care of everything else in your life, not just for you but for His entire creation.

Reflection:

Much of our anxiety comes from uncertainty—when we don’t know what will happen next. We try to control everything and everyone just to feel safe, but it never really works. The truth is, the foundation of our security isn’t in control—it’s in confidence that God is for us. If He’s on our side, then no circumstance or person can ultimately be against us. His faithfulness is stronger than our fears.

Application:

When you feel anxious, pause and remind yourself: “God is for me.” Whisper it until your heart believes it. Let His presence be your peace in the storm.

Explanation:

God’s ultimate goal for every believer is not comfort but Christlikeness. Paul wants the church to see that salvation is not just about heaven someday—it’s about transformation today. We are being shaped, little by little, into the likeness of Jesus.

Reflection & Application:

Every trial, disappointment, and victory is an opportunity to grow in Christlikeness. Responding in faith, rather than reacting in emotion, is how we cooperate with the Spirit’s work in us. Each moment is a step toward becoming more like Jesus.

The Kingdom of God is not about rules or appearances — it’s about a life transformed by His Spirit. When we live in righteousness, peace, and joy, we show the world what belonging to God’s family truly means. His Gospel invites everyone into a community filled with love and grace.

True love corrects without condemning. Paul teaches that accountability is not about judging others but helping them grow closer to God. When we lovingly correct and humbly receive correction, we build stronger and more Christlike relationships.

📖 Romans 14:1-3

Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them.

Some people feel they don’t belong — maybe because of their past, personality, or struggles. But Paul reminds us that in God’s family, everyone has a place. God accepts us not because we’re perfect, but because of His grace. Just as He welcomes us, He calls us to welcome others too.

💭 Reflection: Ask God to remind you that you belong in His family, not because of what you’ve done but because of His love.

📖 Mark 2:10b-12

“So he said to the man, ‘I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.’ He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, ‘We have never seen anything like this!’”

After Jesus healed and forgave the paralyzed man, he stood up, carried his mat, and walked—just as Jesus commanded. In that moment, everyone glorified God, saying, “We’ve never seen anything like this!”

The man who once lay helpless on his mat now stood—whole, forgiven, and free. But the story didn’t end there. His healing became proof of who Jesus is for everyone who saw it. That’s what happens when we encounter Jesus—our lives become a living testimony of His power and purpose. His healing wasn’t just for his own benefit—it revealed who Jesus was to others. And his friends were part of that story. Christ-centered friendships help us do the same: they remind us of our calling, encourage us to walk in obedience, and help us live in a way that points others to Christ.

When life gets confusing or hard, and we get stuck in our struggles, weighed down by doubt and pain, it’s often our friends in Christ who help us see God’s hand at work. These are the people who believe with us and for us when we lose sight of what God is doing. They remind us that God is not finished with us—that His plans are still unfolding, and that our story still matters in eternity. They help us embrace the truth that God is committed to using our lives for His purpose and glory.

💭 Reflection: How have your friends helped you discover or live out God’s purpose for your life? How can you help others do the same?

📖 Mark 2:5; 10-11

“When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, ‘Son, your sins are forgiven.’ … ‘But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.’ So he said to the man, ‘I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.’”

When Jesus saw the faith of the four friends, He didn’t just heal the paralytic’s body—He forgave his sins. In that moment, everyone witnessed the power and authority of Jesus at work. The man walked again, but more importantly, he was made whole.

Christ-centered friendships lead us to experience that same power today—the power to forgive, to heal, to restore. Friends who pray together, confess sins to one another, and lift each other up in grace help us encounter the transforming power of God in our lives.

It’s easy to keep friendships shallow, focused on fun or comfort. But Jesus invites us into deeper friendships—where we can be honest, pray for each other, and walk through struggles together. These are the friendships that shape our faith and help us live in the freedom Jesus gives.

📖 Mark 2:3-4

“Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on.”

In Mark 2, four friends carried a paralyzed man to Jesus. When they couldn’t enter through the door, they climbed up the roof, dug through it, and lowered their friend right in front of Jesus. That kind of friendship is rare and radical. They didn’t just help him physically—they brought him into the very presence of Christ.

Christ-centered friends do the same for us. When we’re weary, discouraged, or too weak to come to God on our own, they carry us in faith and help us see Jesus again. Their prayers, encouragement, and presence remind us that God is near and that His grace is still working in our lives.

Think about the friends who have brought you closer to Jesus. Maybe they prayed for you, listened without judgment, or simply stayed beside you in your pain. These are glimpses of God’s grace through His people. And at the same time, the Lord is calling us to be that kind of friend—to carry others to His presence through prayer, encouragement, and love that reflects Christ.

💭 Reflection: Who has carried you closer to Jesus when you couldn’t get there on your own? And who might God be asking you to carry in faith today?

🙏🏼 Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for the people who have led me closer to You. Help me be a friend who brings others into Your presence—someone who carries, loves, and prays with faith that You still move and heal. Amen.

📖 John 15:13

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

Many of us long for friendships that last—people who understand us, walk with us, and stay when life gets hard. But the truth is, even the best of our friends can fail us. That’s why our deepest need is not just friendship with people, but friendship with Jesus.

He is the friend who knows us completely and loves us fully. He laid down His life so we could experience true life—a life marked by His presence, grace, and companionship. Before we can experience Christ-centered friendships with others, we must first receive and rest in the friendship that Christ offers us.

You may be here today because a friend brought you closer to Jesus—or maybe you’re here feeling like you don’t have that kind of friendship at all. Wherever you are, Jesus wants to remind you that He is already close. He sees you, understands your struggles, and desires to walk with you. And when we truly embrace Jesus as our friend, His love begins to transform how we relate to others—helping us love, forgive, and walk with others the way He does.

💭 Reflection: How have you experienced Jesus’ friendship in your life recently? What might it look like to let Him be your closest friend today?

🙏🏼 Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for being my truest friend. Teach me to rest in Your love and to see that I am never alone. Help me become a friend to others the way You are to me—faithful, gracious, and full of compassion. Amen.

📖 Luke 14:24

“ I tell you, not one of those who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.”

This last part of the parable is Jesus’ warning to those who rejected His invitation. These words sound strong, almost painful – but it reveal the urgency of God’s invitation. Jesus is saying that those who keep rejecting His call will eventually miss out on the banquet.

This is not about punishment for saying “no” once. It is about a missed opportunity when we keep choosing other things over His invitation, not prioritizing the Kingdom of God. 

For us believers, this reminds us not just to accept God’s invitation for ourselves, but to share it with others before it’s too late. It is also a reminder to those who may have once received an invitation. Someone tried to reach out to you and invited you, but for some reason, you didn’t accept it. Don’t miss the invitation! Maybe God is now inviting you to His banquet through that person or those people who are trying to invite you. Just open your heart and, by faith, say yes to that invitation. The table is open for you and God will never close the door for you. 

💭 Reflection: Have you responded to God’s invitation fully – not just by attending, but saying yes to walking with Him daily, together with others? 

🙏🏼 Prayer: Lord, thank you for inviting me to you Kingdom. I don’t want to take Your invitation for granted. Help me respond with my whole heart and give me the boldness to invite others before it’s too late. Amen.

📖 Luke 14:23 

“Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.”

When the servant came back, there was still room at the table. The master did not settle for an empty seat. He said, “ Go out again.” He calls his servants to go out to the streets, roads, and alleys to bring more people in. This is a picture of God’s urgency and compassion. 

This is God’s heart. His Kingdom is not yet full. There’s still space. There are still people He wants to bring home. Some are just around us, unnoticed or uninvited. God has place for them in the Kingdom of God. 

As servant of God and now experiencing the place God has prepared for us, let’s go out, invite others and bring them at the table so that, they may also experience the Kingdom of God. 

💭 Reflection: Ask God to open your eyes to people you may have overlooked. Ask God to give you the courage to reach out and invited them to your circle. 

🙏🏼 Prayer: Lord, give me the courage to step out of my comfort zone. Help me see the people You want me to invited to Your table.

📖 Luke 14:18 

“But they all alike began to make excuses..”

In the parable, many of the invited guests made excuse. The servant faced rejection too, but he did not stop. Because it was not about him – it was about the Mater’s invitation. The servant just obeyed what his master told him to do. He may not get angry like the Master but for sure he felt frustrated because of the rejection, but he still obeyed his master. 

We are also servant of our Master, Jesus Christ. We are doing our best by God’s grace as servants to do what He has called us to do, and one of those is to reach out to people. There are people we have tried to invite, but like what the servant in parable, we experienced rejection. 

Like the servant we may feel discouraged when people reject our invitation. Remember that it is not who are being rejected – it’s God’s invitation. We are simply the messengers. Just as God never gave up on us, we must not give on those He is calling. If someone declines your invitation, don’t take it personally. Keep praying on them, and keep showing kindness. Their “no” is not rejection of you, but God’s invitation – and God never gives up. 

💭 Reflection: Who have you been inviting you but felt discouraged because they kept saying no? How do you deal of that rejection? 

🙏🏼 Prayer: Lord, remind me that I am Your servant, fulfilling Your calling. I pray that you give me strength and help me not to be discouraged by people’s rejection but help to trust You with every people I will reach to. Help me to fix my eyes on You and not on the people’s response as I try to invite them. Amen.

📖 Luke 14:13

“But when you give a banquet, invite the blind, the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind and you will be blessed.”

We all know the feeling of being invited – to a dinner, a party or a gathering. We all know the feeling of being in a group where you can experience the blessing of having people that will come alongside with you, in your journey. But Jesus shows us something deeper. In the Kingdom of God, the table is not just for us and to those who are familiar, but those who are not yet belong. 

Sometimes, God brings someone new, someone quiet, alone or standing at back after service. What are we going to do? Jesus’ invitation is radical. Yes, it is good that we are enjoying fellowship with our closest friends, with people that we are comfortable with, but God desire is that, all the people that He brings to us will also experience what you are experiencing right now. Regardless of who they are. This is what Jesus did for us – He invited us to His Kingdom when we had nothing offer Him. 

Let us reach out to them. Let is invite them as God invited us. 

💭 Reflection: Is there someone God has placed near you – maybe in church, at work, or in school – that you have seen but have not reach out to? Will you invite them, so that they can also experience the gift of being in a fellowship?

🙏🏼 Prayer: Lord, thank you for giving us the gift of invitation and for giving us a seat at Your table even when I have nothing to offer. Help me Lord, to open my eyes to those people that You’re bringing into our church so we could also invite them. Give us also the courage to reach out to them without hesitation and with the motivation of love that comes from you.

📖 Luke 19:9-10

Zacchaeus didn’t just receive a visit from Jesus—he received salvation. Jesus declared it publicly: “Today salvation has come to this house.” And then He reminded everyone of His mission: “The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” That statement wasn’t just about Zacchaeus—it was about all of us. It was about the kind of people Jesus came for. The broken. The rejected. The searching. The lost.

This is the heart of the gospel. Jesus didn’t come to build barriers. He came to open doors. He didn’t wait for people to be perfect before He approached them. He met them in their mess, in their longing, in their climb up a tree just to see Him. And when He saw them, He welcomed them in.

As followers of Jesus, we’re called to reflect that same heart. We’re not gatekeepers—we’re door holders. Our lives, our homes, our churches should be places where people feel safe to seek, to ask, to wrestle, and to hope. We don’t need to have all the answers. We just need to be open.

Being an open door doesn’t mean compromising truth—it means embodying grace. It means seeing people not for who they were, but for who they can become in Christ. It means believing that salvation can come to any house, any heart, at any moment.

So look around. Who’s climbing trees just to get a glimpse of Jesus? Who’s quietly hoping someone will notice them, welcome them, and walk with them? Maybe it’s someone new in your church. Maybe it’s a friend who’s been distant. Maybe it’s you.

Let’s be the open door. Let’s be the reason someone feels seen, heard, and loved. Because when we open the door, we make room for Jesus to enter—and when Jesus enters, everything changes.

📖 Luke 19:8

"But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”"

Zacchaeus didn’t stay the same after meeting Jesus. He stood up and declared his intention to give half of his possessions to the poor and repay those he had cheated—four times over. This wasn’t just a surface change; it was a radical transformation of heart and life.

Jesus affirmed this change, saying, “Today salvation has come to this house.” He reminded everyone that His mission is to seek and save the lost. Zacchaeus was lost, but now he was found—and changed.

This is the power of grace. When people encounter Jesus, real transformation happens. It may not be instant or dramatic for everyone, but it’s always possible. That’s why we must never judge someone by their past. If Jesus can change Zacchaeus, He can change anyone.

Let’s be a community that believes in transformation. Let’s welcome people with hope, trusting that Jesus is at work in their lives.

📖Luke 19:5–6

"When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly."

When Jesus saw Zacchaeus in the tree, He didn’t hesitate. He called him by name and said, “I must stay at your house today.” This wasn’t just a casual visit—it was a public declaration of welcome and acceptance. And it shocked the crowd. Why would Jesus spend time with someone like Zacchaeus?

Jesus’ response shows us the heart of God: He welcomes those who seek Him, no matter their background. He doesn’t wait for people to clean up their lives before drawing near. He meets them where they are and invites Himself into their story.

As followers of Jesus, we’re called to do the same. Our churches, homes, and hearts should be places of radical welcome. We don’t need to have all the answers or fix people’s problems. We simply need to make space for them to encounter Jesus.

📖Luke 19:3–4

“He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.”

Zacchaeus was not the kind of person you’d expect to be interested in Jesus. As a chief tax collector, he was wealthy, powerful, and widely disliked. Yet something stirred in him—a longing that drove him to climb a tree just to catch a glimpse of Jesus. His actions were undignified, even desperate, but they revealed a heart that was seeking something more.

This moment reminds us that spiritual hunger can show up in unexpected ways and in unexpected people. We often assume that those who don’t fit the “church mold” aren’t interested in God. But Zacchaeus challenges that assumption. His story teaches us to look beyond appearances and recognize that anyone—no matter their past or reputation—can truly desire Jesus.

Let’s be people who notice the Zacchaeuses around us. Let’s respond with grace, not judgment, when someone reaches out awkwardly or imperfectly. Their desire may be real, and we might be the ones God uses to help them see Jesus more clearly.

📖1 Peter 1:8–9 

“Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory…”

Peter reminds us that even though we cannot see Jesus with our physical eyes, we can know Him, love Him, and trust Him. And the result of that trust is a joy that nothing in this world can take away. Our circumstances may bring pain, grief, or loss, but they cannot cancel the hope we have in Christ.

This is why joy wins—not because life is easy, but because Jesus is alive and present with us. Joy is not shallow happiness or pretending everything is fine. It’s the deep assurance that no matter what happens, our future with Christ is secure. Trials may wound us, but they cannot steal the salvation of our souls.

As John Ortberg puts it: “There will be great pain, and there will be great joy. In the end, joy wins. … If joy has not yet won, it is not yet the end.”

In Christ, the story of our lives doesn’t end with sorrow. It ends with joy, because it ends with Him. And if joy hasn’t won in your story yet, take heart—God isn’t finished writing it.

“…you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold…may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

Trials are painful, but they are never wasted. Just as fire refines gold, suffering purifies our faith. Gold perishes, but genuine faith lasts forever. Trials don’t destroy hope; they deepen it, making it shine brighter for God’s glory.

I’m sure you’ve experienced this—when life shakes you and the things you once depended on start to crumble, that’s when you discover if your hope is really in Christ. Maybe you’ve had moments where your prayers felt heavy with tears, yet God met you there and gave you strength you didn’t think you had. That’s what Peter is talking about. Trials reveal what’s real in us. They strip away false anchors and draw us closer to the only hope that lasts.

So the next time you walk through a storm, remember: God is not trying to destroy you—He’s refining you. Your pain is shaping a faith more precious than gold, one that points others to the living hope of Jesus.

“…to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.”

Everything on this earth eventually fades. Possessions wear out, wealth gets spent, even our best memories can slip away. But Peter reminds us that in Christ, we have an inheritance that will never perish, spoil, or fade. It’s secure—kept in heaven by God Himself.

Maybe you’ve worked hard for something only to lose it. Maybe you’ve had a dream fall apart or seen something precious slip through your hands. We all know what it’s like to feel the sting of loss. But here’s the good news: what God promises His children cannot be taken away. He doesn’t just keep the inheritance safe—He also keeps us safe until the day we receive it.

This means we don’t have to live anxious or afraid of losing everything. Our greatest treasure isn’t in a bank account, a house, or even our health. It’s in Christ, and it’s untouchable. When you remember this, you can live with open hands—generous, free, and unshaken by what you might lose, because your ultimate inheritance is secure in Him.

After meeting Jesus, witnessing a miracle, and realizing his own unworthiness, Simon Peter is given a new mission: “From now on, you will fish for people.”

Jesus doesn’t just call us to Himself—He sends us out with Him. He gives us a purpose that matters for eternity.

This calling isn’t just for Simon. It’s for us too. Jesus is working in the lives of people around us — our friends, family, coworkers, classmates — and He’s placed us there for a reason. We are His hands and feet. We’re part of how He reaches others.

So let’s be present. Let’s be intentional. Let’s engage people with grace and compassion, trusting that Jesus is already at work in their hearts.

Simon’s response to the miracle wasn’t pride—it was humility. He saw Jesus’ holiness and felt his own unworthiness. But Jesus didn’t reject him. He called him.

Jesus doesn’t wait for us to be perfect. He calls us as we are — flawed, broken, ordinary. He sees beyond our past and invites us into a future filled with purpose.

Simon was a fisherman, but Jesus saw a disciple. Jesus used language Simon understood — “fishing for people”— to invite him into a mission that would change lives.

“Simon answered, ‘Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.’ When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.”

Simon was exhausted and discouraged. He had done everything he knew to do and still failed. But Jesus asked him to try again — this time in obedience to His word.

Simon’s willingness to trust Jesus, even when it didn’t make sense, led to a miracle. Jesus often calls us beyond our comfort zones, beyond our logic, beyond our limits, into deeper waters.

He uses our disappointments to reveal His power and awaken us to deeper purpose. The catch of fish wasn’t just provision — it was preparation for a calling.

💭 Reflection: Is there an area in your life where Jesus is asking you to trust Him again, even though you feel tired, discouraged or unsure?

Luke 5:3

“He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.”

Jesus didn’t wait for Simon to come to Him. He stepped into Simon’s boat—into his workplace, his routine, his ordinary day. This moment reminds us that Jesus meets us right where we are. Whether we’re at home, at work, or in a season of struggle or success, He is present and active.

Simon wasn’t seeking Jesus; he was just doing his job. Yet Jesus saw him, engaged him, and began a journey that would change his life.

We often think we need to be in a “spiritual” place to encounter God, but Jesus is already in our everyday moments. He uses our routines as platforms for His purpose.

📖 Romans 10:14

Belonging in Christ is first a gift we receive. Through His mercy, Jesus welcomes us into His family—we are no longer outsiders, but children of God. This is something we could never earn on our own; it is purely by God’s mercy and grace. In Christ, we are fully known, fully loved, and fully accepted.

But belonging in Christ is also a mission we carry. Just as Jesus welcomed us, He now calls us to extend that same welcome to others. The church is not just a place where we belong; it is God’s family that points the world to Jesus. Wherever God has placed us—at home, in our neighborhoods, schools, or workplaces—we are sent to help others experience the same belonging we have found in Him.

📖 Matthew 9:12–13

12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Our deepest need to belong is met not by proving ourselves worthy but by receiving the mercy of Christ. The Pharisees judged and excluded, but Jesus showed that His kingdom is built on grace, not performance. He gives mercy without condition and acceptance without limit. No matter our past or even our present struggles, Jesus offers us His transforming love.

This mercy isn’t just for us to receive; it’s also for us to extend. In a world quick to cancel and condemn, showing mercy can be the clearest reflection of Jesus people will see. Just as Matthew’s community of sinners was welcomed, we too are called to extend compassion to those who feel disqualified. When we show mercy, we point others to the One who freely gives it.

📖 Matthew 9:10

“While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples.”

We all long for a place where we are loved and accepted for who we are. The world often makes us feel like we have to earn that belonging, but Jesus shows us otherwise. He didn’t just call Matthew to follow Him—He sat with him and shared a meal, offering fellowship and true belonging. In Christ, we are welcomed and accepted into His family not because of what we’ve done, but because of who He is.

But Jesus doesn’t just welcome us in; He also sends us out. Just as Matthew opened his home so others could meet Jesus, we are invited to open our lives to people around us. Hospitality, kindness, and genuine friendship can become channels for others to encounter the love of Christ. When we welcome others, we reflect the acceptance we ourselves have received in Him.

📖 Matthew 9:9

“As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.”

We all have a deep, God-given need to belong. But no matter how hard we try to fill it with what the world offers, it never truly satisfies. That need can only be met in Christ. The life of Matthew is proof of this truth. Jesus saw him, valued him, and called him. Matthew mattered to Jesus—and so do you. You are not overlooked. In Christ, you are fully known and deeply loved.

And just as Jesus saw Matthew, He calls us to also “see” the people around us who feel invisible—our coworkers, classmates, and neighbors. You and I are invited to be His instruments in helping others experience the same belonging we’ve received in Him.

💭 Reflection: Who around you might feel unseen? How can you help them know they matter—not only to you, but to Jesus?
