The Valaisia Brass Band a Swiss brass ensemble that performs in the excellence category.

Founded in the spring of 2008 in Chermignon (Canton of Valais), The Valaisia Brass Band participates annually in the Swiss Brass Band Competition.

Since its founding, it has been crowned Swiss Champion eight times (2009, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2024), and Swiss Open Champion three times (2013, 2024, and 2025). In 2017, the Valaisia Brass Band won the 165th British Open Brass Band Championship in Birmingham, UK. In 2018, just a decade after its founding, the ensemble became European Brass Band Champion in Utrecht, Netherlands.

Dr Deanna Swoboda is an Associate Professor of Music at the Arizona State University where she teaches tuba, euphonium and music entrepreneurship.

She is a former tuba player with Dallas Brass and the creator and performer of 'Band Blast Off'.

Deanna is a past President of the International Tuba and Euphonium Association.

She is an Eastman Music Company Tuba Artist and has commissioned over 30 compositions for solo tuba and chamber music.

Her recordings include...Deanna's Wonderland, Shamanic Journey, Table for Three, Fanfare and Flourish, Games for Brass and most recently, Identity.

Deanna is also a member of Athena Brass who played at the Royal Northern International Brass Band Festival in Manchester in January.

The Valaisia Brass Band a Swiss brass ensemble that performs in the excellence category. Founded in the spring of 2008 in Chermignon (Canton of Valais), The Valaisia Brass Band participates annually in the Swiss Brass Band Competition. Since its founding, it has been crowned Swiss Champion eight times (2009, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2024), and Swiss Open Champion three times (2013, 2024, and 2025). In 2017, the Valaisia Brass Band won the 165th British Open Brass Band Championship in Birmingham, UK. In 2018, just a decade after its founding, the ensemble became European Brass Band Champion in Utrecht, Netherlands.

Grimethorpe Colliery Band is a British institution. National and British Open Champions on numerous occasions, the band’s contest successes remain legendary. These include 16 Brass In Concert Championship titles, 11 times Yorkshire Regional Champions, two English National Championship victories, four times British Open Champions and four times National Champion Brass Band of Great Britain.
