On this episode, we discuss the basis of the views that sparked the witch hunt hysteria throughout the medieval and early modern period. We get into some of the religious zealotry that drove all that nonsense. We also touch on the Malleus Maleficarum written by Heinrich Kramer, a Catholic clergyman, published in 1496; and Daemonologie, written by King James the Sixth of Scotland/the First of England, and published in 1597 - 14 years before he published "his" "translation" of the Bible. Both books (Malleus Maleficarum and Daemonologie) were viewed as definitive works on the nature of witches, why they're so evil, and what to do about them. It's some wild stuff, and I highly recommend reading both books, as tough as they can be to get through. At some point, we'll do deep dives into various witch trials throughout Europe and the US, for which this episode is intended to be somewhat of a foundation.

How would you react if you were in a relationship, had children with your partner, then found out later that the children weren't your biological children? Or if you were the parent of someone in that situation? Today, Destiny and I start with the story of a woman who goes behind her son's back to get a DNA test on his daughter, after he very specifically told her not to, and then proceeds to tell him that his daughter is not his biological child. We discuss our views on the situation, as well as a few other topics - conversations meander sometimes. It's an interesting chat exploring the nature of family, the job market, the US school system, and more.

If you couldn't guess, some of the conversation broaches a bit into sensitive topics. If you are particularly sensitive to discussions of abandonment, domestic violence, or verbal/emotional abuse, be aware that there are brief mentions of those, and other related subjects that are potentially triggering smattered throughout the conversation as we discuss family dynamics.
