]]> For our premiere of Season 3 we celebrated love and Valentine's Day with a romantic film, The Notebook, and decided to counter that with a relationship centric film completely opposite. Bride of Chucky, sounds romantic at a glance unless you are familiar with the infamous Good Guy. Goldie Hawn(Cactus Flower, Shampoo, Overboard, The First Wives Club) plays the long time frenemy Helen Sharp an obsessed and traumatized woman who seeks revenge against Madeline. Bruce Willis(Die Hard, Moonlighting, Fifth Element, The Sixth Sense) is Ernest Menville, who at the beginning is Helen's fiancé until he is instantly infatuated at first sight of Madeline, leaving Helen thus causing her to spiral out of control. As years pass and Madeline finds herself at a certain age in a young industry, she seeks a way to defy the laws of nature. Madeline along with Helen find themselves coming face to face with their differences, while also learning the commonalties shared between the two. The comedy was a big success in 1992, and was quite a departure for its leads but has proved over the years to be regarded as one of Zemeckis' best films.

Although it seemed only right to start at the beginning with the film that began Anderson's impressive career. Introducing the world to not only his own visual talents, Anderson brought together the Wilson brothers with hilarious performances bringing this film to life. Middle brother Owen, also co-wrote the script with Anderson, something the two of them would repeat in the future. Though, Bottle Rocket was not a huge hit for Wes Anderson, it was a great first film and an example of what his future projects would build upon.

]]> For our next group of deep dives we decided to honor a filmmaker we really enjoy at #talktothehand. Wes Anderson has had a nearly 30 year career full of cult classics. With such an extensive filmography packed with Academy Award winning favorites, it was hard to pick which ones we would review. Although it seemed only right to start at the beginning with the film that began Anderson's impressive career. Introducing the world to not only his own visual talents, Anderson brought together the Wilson brothers with hilarious performances bringing this film to life. Middle brother Owen, also co-wrote the script with Anderson, something the two of them would repeat in the future. Though, Bottle Rocket was not a huge hit for Wes Anderson, it was a great first film and an example of what his future projects would build upon.

Bruce Willis(Die Hard, Moonlighting, Fifth Element, The Sixth Sense) is Ernest Menville, who at the beginning is Helen's fiancé until he is instantly infatuated at first sight of Madeline, leaving Helen thus causing her to spiral out of control. As years pass and Madeline finds herself at a certain age in a young industry, she seeks a way to defy the laws of nature. Madeline along with Helen find themselves coming face to face with their differences, while also learning the commonalties shared between the two. The comedy was a big success in 1992, and was quite a departure for its leads but has proved over the years to be regarded as one of Zemeckis' best films.

A star making film that set the bar on love very high for many millennials. The Notebook, released in 2004, an adaptation of the 1996 novel by Nicholas Sparks was directed by Nick Cassavetes(John Q, Alpha Dog, My Sister's Keeper). Starring were unknown actors at the time, Ryan Gosling(Half Nelson, Crazy,Stupid,Love, The Big Short, Barbie) and Rachel McAdams(Mean Girls, Wedding Crashers, Doctor Strange), with a supporting cast of James Garner, Gena Rowlands, James Marsden, Kevin Connolly, Sam Shepard and Joan Allen. The Notebook tells the story of Noah and Allie, two people from different worlds with a passionate and at times problematic love for one another. The Notebook, released in 2004, an adaptation of the 1996 novel by Nicholas Sparks was directed by Nick Cassavetes(John Q, Alpha Dog, My Sister's Keeper). Starring were unknown actors at the time, Ryan Gosling(Half Nelson, Crazy,Stupid,Love, The Big Short, Barbie) and Rachel McAdams(Mean Girls, Wedding Crashers, Doctor Strange), with a supporting cast of James Garner, Gena Rowlands, James Marsden, Kevin Connolly, Sam Shepard and Joan Allen. The Notebook tells the story of Noah and Allie, two people from different worlds with a passionate and at times problematic love for one another. From its release the film was a hit with fans and created hype in not only the careers and lives of its young stars, but also the other beautiful stories in Nicholas Sparks' bibliography. Pixar's first theatrical release in 1995, Toy Story, would prove to be the innovation that would propel animation into new heights and introduce the world to a group of toys we've grown to love over nearly three decades. Pixar's breakout animator/director, John Lasseter, with an impressive team would help usher in a new wave of iconic animated films using computers in a way that had not been used in this medium prior to the breakout of Toy Story. With a great team, top notch story and mind blowing visuals, the only thing left to bring these characters to life was A-list of voice actors. Lending his talents and taking on the role of Woody, was Tom Hanks and his later best friend and delusional space ranger Buzz Lightyear was voiced by Tim Allen. Supporting voice rolls were; Annie Potts as Bo Peep, Don Rickles as Mr Potato Head, Jim Varney as Slinky Dog, Wallace Shawn as Rex, John Ratzenberger as Hamm, John Morris as Andy, Laurie Metcalf as Mrs Davis, and R. Lee Ermey as Sergeant. Starring, Oscar winners Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Dianne Weist, along with Stockard Channing, Aidan Quinn and Evan Rachel Wood, the large budget film unfortunately was a flop at the box office, but fans have kept the memory alive years later. Arguably one of Kidman and Bullock's roles that heavily depart from what they are most known for, but in the best ways. A fun, adventure film, wrapped up in supernatural thriller vibes, produces a classic witch story.


In our 2nd film review, we derived from the more adult entry to a family friendly film, Halloweentown! Released in 1998, celebrates its 25th anniversary on Oct 17th and it seems to have become a annual tradition this month for millions of fans who grew up love this classic. Halloweentown, tells the tale of 13 yr old Marnie, who discovers on her 13th Halloween shes a witch after an unexpected visit from her eccentric grandma Aggie Cromwell. After her Mom, Gwen puts a stop to the training, Marnie and her siblings follow Aggie back to her native Halloweentown, a world full of all things suited to the holiday its named after. Marnie is completely living for all aspects of her truth but when faced with the realities of this new world, she must navigate her new powers all while saving her own family from a deadly force. The film stars the late, great Debbie Reynolds, Kimberly J Brown, Judith Hoag, Joey Zimmerman and Emily Roeske.


So, lean in as we take you down memory lane with two classic 90s films. This is...Practical Magic and Halloweentown

The family film was brought to theaters by Steven Spielbergs, Amblin Entertainment on a modest budget and quickly became a box office it that summer. Spawning a series of direct to video sequels, unfortunately never matched the magic of the original film we still enjoy each Halloween.


Our 2nd film in the Ghost genre, is 1999's The Sixth Sense brought to life by the Horror mastermind, M Night Shyamalan, a film he wrote and directed. Starring the epic, Bruce Willis, Haley Joel Osment, Toni Collette and Olivia Williams, in a horrifying tale about a young boy with a very supernatural ability that frightens and confuses him until he meets a child psychologist, who he confides he dark secret to. What comes next for these two is not only scary but by far one of the biggest twists in cinema history.


So come along as we cover to vastly different Ghost stories, but easily, both considered 90s classics! This is..Casper and The Sixth Sense

A ratings hit from the beginning, the sitcom would go on for 148 episodes across 6 seasons, ending its Emmy nominated run in 1996, thus launching Smith into his future A-list status. With an impressive supporting cast, James Avery as Uncle Phil the ultimate TV Dad, we all respect and love. As Aunt Vivian, Janet Hubert Whitten(1-3) and Daphne Maxwell-Reid(4-6) respectively. The Banks children include, Hilary played by Karyn Parsons, Carlton played by the hilarious Alfonso Ribeiro, Tatyana Ali as Ashley and youngest Nicky Banks was played by the adorable Ross Bagley. And who could forget the always sarcastic Geoffrey, the Banks' Butler, who was acted by Joseph Marcell. A ratings hit from the beginning, the sitcom would go on for 148 episodes across 6 seasons, ending its Emmy nominated run in 1996, thus launching Smith into his future A-list status.
