That cheat code snowballed into Front Office Sports (FOS), which today is a multi-million-dollar sports media brand with 37 employees, Adweek accolades, and a valuation that makes his early barback paychecks look like pocket lint.

🔑 Big Takeaways (the podcast producer’s cut)

The Overnight Decade

FOS looks like an “overnight success,” but Adam is eight years deep, still grinding like it’s year one. He admits: “Every overnight success is really ten years in the making.” Translation: don’t be fooled by the headlines — he sacrificed vacations, weekends, and probably his liver during those bar shifts to get here

Mistakes Were Made

Gave away free equity like Halloween candy.

Formed as an LLC, then learned the hard way about taxes haunting you years later.

Built his first pitch deck on Google Slides… and still cringes at it.

His advice now? Lawyer up, accountant up, incorporate in Delaware, and don’t give your cousin free shares because he “knows a guy.”

The $5 Million “Strategic” Deal

In Adam’s words: “Investors care about one thing: return of capital. If you can return it, you’ll always have investors in your next venture.”

Attention to Detail or Die

Misspelling a brand’s name in a pitch deck? That’s game over. Adam is maniacal about the little things because in media, the little things are the big things. Celebrities now share FOS content not because it’s flashy, but because it’s sharp, consistent, and relentlessly on brand.

Leverage & Long Games

At 23, he knew he had no leverage. So he took on partners with deep pockets, connections, and even a pickleball team with LeBron James. The trade-off? He doesn’t own 60% anymore. The upside? He’s set up for the long game — and his 35-year-old self will thank him

Brand Over Everything

Whether you’re Nike, Applebee’s, or ESPN’s one-eyed dog with a sales badge, brand wins. Adam’s mantra: “Strong brand, strong business. Weak brand, you’re toast.”

Funny Truths & Raw Advice

Biggest cheat code? “Everyone wants to help college kids.”

On relationships: under-promise, over-deliver (and date someone patient enough to understand why you’ve never taken a vacation in 8 years).

Hosted on Acast. Joey is a fraternity brother of our host, Charles, and his father told him at a young age to figure out how to get paid through brainpower and not through back power. The problem was he had nothing to focus his brain on. Now Joey is running the Darshan Group which is poised to become a Real Estate development company after successfully buying and selling a duplex for profit (he explains fully). To get to this point though it took a lot of failing forward because this wasn't Joey's dream plan all along.

“Now it’s about consistent execution and a lot of people can’t get to that point because they don’t get that proof first, sometimes it takes a while to get it. If takes too long you gotta figure out maybe it’s the process?”

In this episode of The Credentials, former Notre Dame and the University of Florida starting Quarterback Malik Zaire joins the show. The lucky lefty is now a College Football TV analyst for CBS Sports. Born in Ohio with dreams of becoming the next Michael Vick, Malik shares his journey and experiences that allowed him to become Southwest Ohio Offensive Player of the Year in Highschool and landing an opportunity to play at Notre Dame as the first black left-handed QB in the program's history. He went on to become an NAIA All American and Professional Hooper in Japan for a couple of years.

After his professional career, he began writing and eventually wrote an article for the Huffington Post about college athletes getting paid that ended up going viral. That article landed him opportunities to be on an ABC News outlet and TV One among other tv networks.

During our conversation we cover everything from, key factors to build a brand on social media, which platforms are best in 2021 for an online community, how Barry Bonds and Lance Armstrong can fix their image, plus why it is important for everyone to be building their brand.

Last but not least, we discuss Malcolm's new Initiative called Athletes Unheard which is all about Athletes and Mental Wellness.

So today's guest on The Credentials, David Nichols, is someone who went from coming off a broken leg and missing his entire junior year and visiting D3's his senior year of high school to becoming the Chicago Catholic North Side Player of the Year and still having no substantial Division 1 offers. Imagine how that feels? Find out what David had to do to EARN his scholarship while on a visit with a school to prove he's worthy to make the team. David Nichols went on to break school records while at that same school, plus making it to the Sweet 16 while at Florida State University.

His entire basketball journey has been built by adversity and having to literally make nonbelievers into believers through performing well as an underdog in pressure situations. However, he shares what subtle big change he added to his basketball regime that unlocked his game and took it to a whole other level.

David Nichols is now a professional scorer in Slovenia with plans to reach the top 6 European leagues in the coming years. Similar to his Division 1 journey he is once again overlooked and undervalued, having to start from the lower leagues and working his way up the ladder. During the course of this conversation, David shares what it's like to be an American hooper coming to an overseas team and the expectations these European teams have for American players. Not to mention he shares a few of the perks of being an Overseas Hooper and what he is doing to maximize his platform right now while preparing for the future.

To follow David's Journey go to:

Instagram: @dnichols_11 and @pro_scorersclub

Twitter: @Davey_Ballout13

Website: www.proscorersclub.com

To follow the show's journey go to:

Instagram: @thecredentialsshow

Youtube: The Credentials Show

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC66mYDryYfIYeWjWBiWXB8w

Hosted on Acast.

In this episode of "The Credentials", the focus is on how to capitalize on the College experience in today's society. Dr. Jason Pappas works with Florida State University Master's Students and helps place them in sports jobs & internships. Whether it be NBA, NFL, Golf, Tennis, Power 5, or any other type of sports entity. Dr.Pappas was in Miami for the College Football Playoff National Championship Game letting students get the opportunity to work all pre-game festivities as well as the big game. Dr.Pappas personally helped me land a sports marketing job with Madison Square Garden Company. Whether you know it or not, the value of a college degree in the workspace has seen a sharp decline since everyone has a degree now. With that being said, resume experiences are more and more becoming the x-factor or deciding factor on whether or not people get hired in their preferred industry. This episode features the following questions: What are the important characteristics/skillsets to have in college? What separates people who have successful careers in sports and those who don't? Lastly, I ask his honest opinion on what it takes to make six or seven figures in sports?

To keep up with the show

Instagram: @thecredentialsshow

Youtube: The Credentials Show

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC66mYDryYfIYeWjWBiWXB8w

Hosted on Acast.
