This was our first event which included performances and education from Steve White, a UK Living Legend!

Steve has been playing drums since an early age and has played with The Style Council, Paul Weller, Ocean Colour Scene, Oasis, The Who, Dr John, James Taylor Quartet and many more.. Drummer, Educator, and Presenter of the Sky Arts Hit series "The Art of Drumming". Steve has been inspired by and worked with Drummers such as Peter Erskine, Louie Bellson, Ginger Baker and Chad Smith.

In this interview we talk about when and where it all started, how he joined the Boys Brigade to play Snare Drum, how after joining the Musicians Union 75 pence and being taken to gigs at a young age by his dad he met Paul Weller and played on Radio One to 14 million listeners...

We have some live questions from the audience and the beep machine gets some use...

This episode doesn't have any performances included from the night but we are working on that for another day.

ZACK and his confession of a secret LOVE!

We have been away for a week or two but we are certainly BACK !

This week has a little minty twist as we managed to catch up with Zack one of his two UK Clinics in March 2025.

Samuel Holcombe, drummer for the band “AQUALINE” a 5 piece alternative band from Guildford, UK.

Samuel popped in to talk about life being a drummer in a young UK based gigging and recording band in their 20’s.

Recently Graduated from ACM Guildford, Samuel simply LOVES the drums and is having a blast right now!

Aqualine have played gigs in the UK and Europe and recently returned from recording new material in Vienna.

In 2024 they featured on the BBC Live Lounge and have a great future ahead of them! Certainly one to watch and support our new and upcoming home grown artists.

Samuel has already been employed as a Drum Teacher in Schools and works in the Drum Dept of a popular and well known Music store whilst he continues his drumming career.

In this Episode we are joined by Lachlan Fletcher, who is a mate of ours from Australia and a Top Bloke!

We met Lachy (Pronounced Locky) in Mike Johnston's group of Mikeslessons Students on the Family Facebook Page that you can be added to when you become a member. This group has provided such support and bonded many of us. To the extent that we make friends with other drummers all around the world.

We also bring back Riza Jazeel and make this a 4 way chat about our drumming journey's and how we got into drumming right up to what we are doing now and working on..

This one did go on for over 2 hours so we cut it down to 2 episodes but both under the heading of Episode 9 The second part is ready and will pop up very soon afterwards so you don't have to wait too long.

"Carry On Camping" with our friend Riza Jazeel

In the Episode we welcome our friend Riza who's just got back from Freddie Gee's 24th Camp!!

We know Riza from Mikeslessons family group and he's a "Proper Geezer" who is killing it in

"Sessions" on the MLDC website and regularly gigs in London UK in a few bands.

In this episode Riza goes into detail about this year's Freddie Gee experience and he is clearly still buzzing!

We talk a little about Sessions from Mike Johnston's Mikeslessons.com site as we are all at difference stages of Sessions.

Sessions is a section of Mike's site where you learn a song and Mike directs you with what and how to play.

The list of songs run from 1 - 30 although the last few sessions are still being recorded by Mike.

It is certainly worth checking out!

He absolutely LOVED it and this may be of interest if you're considering making the trip to Mikeslessons Drum Camp In Folsom CA. He mentions "Suffering" a lot but that is all in good humour, to demonstrate you go to camp to work and improve as well as enjoy the company, drums and matcha.. ;)

We kick off with an amazing solo by Till, recored at Camp in Mikes Studio. He sent us the file after we recorded the episode so we didn't speak about it sadly but WOW! its fabulous !!

We will have a chat about it another time but wanted you to enjoy it now :)

We know Till through the Mikes Lessons website and family Facebook group that all MLDC (Mikes Lessons Dot Com) students are invited to join. It is a really supportive spot on the internet where other students and Mike post up their challenges, ask questions, share their successes and new gear. I almost think the subscription to MLDC is worthy of being part of that group alone, but we get so much more from Mike Johnston.
