When he channels a very intense energy fills up the room so much so that I was a little nervous about being around the guides without a physical audience there with me.

But fear is the cheap seats and my nervousness was for nothing. This is a wonderful reminder of our true identities coming through a very cool person who happens to be the conduit to a cluster of advanced beings.

Whether you believe in channeling or not the data Paul puts out there is really useful if you struggle with fear and the limitations that go along with that state of consciousness.

Trudy Goodman Kornfield, Ph.D., is a vipassana teacher in the Theravada lineage and the Founding Teacher of InsightLA. If you're interested in learning the basics of meditation then this DTFH is for you.

David Nichtern is a senior meditation teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist lineage of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. He's also my friend and was kind enough to sit down with me and allow me to record a semi-formal meditation training.

He's teaching some classes in Los Angeles this summer. I'll be at the one in June.

Mark David Duplass (born December 7, 1976) is an American film director, film producer, actor, musician, and screenwriter. He is the brother of director, writer, and actor Jay Duplass. Together, the brothers started the film production company Duplass Brothers Productions, and have directed films such as The Puffy Chair (2005), Jeff, Who Lives at Home (2011), and The Do-Deca-Pentathlon (2012). Mark and Jay co-created the HBOtelevision series Togetherness in 2015.

This one came out of nowhere. I'm staying at my friend Douggpounds house while he's out of town and he texted me that his friend was in town with Laraaji and that he could set up an interview If I wanted to podcast with him.

At the time I had no idea who Laraaji was but after a few moments listening to his insanely beautiful ambient music I knew we had to talk.

Laraaji was discovered at Washington Square park by Brian Eno and they produced the album "Ambient 3: Days Of Radiance.

He creates ambient music as a way to conduct the energy of the timeless into our part of the time space continuum.

Nightmare modular synth addiction

WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME!?!?

A friend sternly warned that I should not buy a modular synth because once you start you can never stop. He was right!!!

I have no musical aspirations but I can't seem to wrench myself away from the sonic randomosity that these things generate.

If you're familiar with Burroughs then you're probably aware of the "cut up technique" which is a form of "aleatoricism" which is mixing chaos or chance into the process of creation.

The idea is you glue a bunch of random newspaper clippings or audio bits together and whatever results is a kind of garbled message from the universe or the present moment or nothing at all.

This is why I'm so fascinated with these things. They're like acoustic Ouija boards that occasionally produce beautiful music and odd words and sentences that weren't in the original sample.

Anyway here's the product of me procrastinating recording an intro to this weeks episode...

I keep trying to remember how I made contact with Will Oldham. It's weird because it seems like something you should remember but maybe the sheer overwhelmingness of having any contact at all with such a prolific musician caused some kind of mild amnesia. I know we started texting while I was on the You Are God Tour but that's about it.

I've listened to Oldham's music for many years and like lot's of other folks out there have been deeply moved by his lyrics and the soft slow way he spins together darkness and light. This created a real high state of nervousness for me but Will and his wife Elsa were true southern hosts and they fed me, played video games with me, and let me spend the night at their house.

The next morning we recorded this podcast.

Took a mini-pilgrimage up to CoSM and spent some blissful hours with Alex and Allyson Grey. These two beautiful humans have an art church and are building a temple of visionary art called Entheon.

Cosm is this thriving community of visionary artists and is as magical a place as I've ever been. If you live anywhere near there you really should spend a few days taking in the vibe there.

Hopefully in the spring I'll head back up to do a live podcast.

If you listened to the last podcast then you heard me call someone up on stage to help me do the Om.

This was Robert Ryan

As it turns out he's a legendary tattoo artist and a world traveler.

After the show he gave me a book of his incredible art and the next day as I was reading the forward I realized that he would be a perfect guest for the DTFH.

He came over with a "Sruti" box which is this amazing droning instrument that you've probably heard if you listen to Kirtans and a bundle of incense from vrindavana which is sort of like Mecca for the Hare Krishnas.

At that point I knew we were destined to have a great conversation. So here's our podcast which will come out on the main feed later this week.

The AC is running to cover up the chainsaw that my downstairs neighbors must be using to renovate their apartment.

Hello friends!

Here's a Grammy award winning song I wrote about cars and a reading from The Psychedelic Experience which is a book written by Tim Leary, Richard Alpert (pre-Ram Dass) and Ralph Metzner.

The Tibetan's believe that after death the soul hangs around the body in a confused state and if you read the Book Of The Dead to someone who just died it can help them transcend the cycle of birth and death or at least not be so freaked out as they plunge back into the material realm.

The Psychedelic Experience translates The Book Of The Dead into something that can help people who have taken a psychedelic enter into a unitive state. It also has a bunch of great tips for folks who are looking to deepen their next trip.

The reading is from the first part of chapter 4.
