			<description><![CDATA[<p>On this episode of The Mess We're In, I'm honoured to have my truly inspirational friend <a href="https://www.instagram.com/lauraleedockrill/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Laura Dockrill</a></p><br><p>Laura is an author, script writer, playwright, poet, illustrator, podcast host, speaker, Women's Fiction Prize judge - the list goes on!</p><p>The strings to her bow are endless and she is an absolute JOY.</p><p>We first met many moons ago through the music industry, but really connected after becoming mothers and sharing lots of open conversation around postpartum mental health, as well as sharing lots of giggles.</p><p>*Warning - this episode does contain lots of open conversation around mental health*      </p><br><p>Laura's 2020 memoir 'What Have I Done' is a raw, yet uplifting and life affirming recollection of her experience of postpartum psychosis, which she developed after the birth of her son.</p><p>The work Laura has managed to do by taking literally the darkest, most frightening time, transforming it into the book and enabling dialogue around maternal mental health is incredible.</p><p>Laura is an ambassador for the charity <a href="https://www.app-network.org/postpartum-psychosis/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Action on Postpartum Psychosis</a> and has been breaking down a lot of stigma the past few years, generating more hope and less shame for anyone who has ever struggled with perinatal mental health issues.</p><p>She has also written beautiful, empowering children's books 'Grey' and "I Am Strong Just Being Me' that equip children with importance of being aware of their feelings and emotions and encourage their uniqueness and individuality.</p><br><p>Laura's most recent 2024 highly acclaimed, first adult novel 'I Love You, I Love You, I Love You' is the most heart wrenching, delicious, nostalgic story of finding your first true love, that I implore all to read! 			<description><![CDATA[<p>On this episode of The Mess We're In, I talk to brilliant friend <a href="www.jon-salmon.com " rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Jon Salmon. </a></p><br><p>Jon is an award-winning executive producer, co-founder of<a href="www.byteentertainment.com" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"> Byte Entertainmen</a>t and Co-CEO of<a href="www.speakerscollective.org " rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"> Speakers Collective.&nbsp;</a></p><p>When I met Jon I was overwhelmed by how generous he is with the time he dedicates to supporting and championing others and it was glorious to hear the stories about his journey and all the amazing organisations he’s been involved with.</p><p>**Content Warning** This episode discusses themes of suicide and mental illness</p><br><p>Jon lost his father to suicide when he was a teenager. A few years later after starting his first job he was sectioned and admitted to hospital with stress and depression. Luckily, Jon was able to get the right help in the end and returned to work a year later.&nbsp;</p><p>However, Jon decided not to tell anyone about his mental illness or Dad's suicide for nearly 20 years due to the stigma and effect he thought it would have on his career and friendships.&nbsp;</p><p>It was sadly after the suicide of a close friend due to postnatal depression in 2016 that Jon decided he had to speak out.&nbsp;</p><br><p>Jon couldn't have picked a more public platform to talk about mental health when he spoke alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales as part of the <a href="https://www.headstogether.org.uk/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Heads Together</a> mental health campaign.&nbsp;</p><p>Jon has since gone on to be the Co-CEO of the Speakers Collective not for profit, challenging stigma and facilitating important conversations with over 200 lived experience speakers.
