High Fantasy Vol. 1 - Garlic & Wasabi

We rejoin our heroes in search of sustenance; desperately in need of the fuel required to adventure on.

Lucky for Astaroth, Vasilius, Ballraq, Jonas, Thenack, and Tauntaun, they encounter a group of joyful travelers with the barbeque hookup.

After a short trip, the gang and their travelling companions arrive at a lively little settlement formerly called Riverbend, recently redubbed Flavortown.

It’s a seemingly normal small village with a populated center closely resembling an art fair.

Our heroes' stomachs are overcome with hunger cramps when they notice the enticing smell of slow cooked nibbles being hawked by the settlement’s vendors.

Most of the party also notices something strange about the town’s inhabitants and take a moment to consider the safety of this nourishment…

Most of the party... Astaroth and Thenack immediately approach the nearest vendor and start to chow down.

Tauntaun, the party's adorable animal companion, looks on with pleading eyes as Ballraq refuses to feed him the suspicious meats.

After some of the party has a bite to eat, Jonas heads off in search of texts to help with learning Celestial; Thenack is sent to seek medical attention, despite is nonchalant attitude to the rib protruding from his trunk; the rest of the gang wanders off in search of other adventure goods for purchase.

While wandering in search of vendors, Vasilius notices some covert movements coming from a nearby residence. The gang moves in for a closer look and Vasilius makes contact with a frightened young girl who confirms the town’s new inhabitants and their delicious barbeque are actually quite sinister.

Upon knowing treachery is afoot, Astaroth, Ballraq, Vasilius, and TaunTaun rush off to find and warn Jonas who has been spending his time in Flavortown with another of the town’s less zealous inhabitants: an old and frustratingly forgetful wizard named Sylvio… or Carl…?

Will Astaroth and Thenack suffer more than indigestion from the barbeque of questionable origin?

Can Jonas decipher the Celestial rune on Bazzon’s Hammer?

Who’s the sheriff of Flavortown and where do they keep the bud in these parts?

High Fantasy Vol. 1 - Cult of Flavorality

The gang, now reunited escapes the derelict tomb of Bazzon and tries to do something heroic for once. On Thenack’s suggestion, they back track down the Volomeire pass in search for the petrified companion once known as Dirk Hightower.

Upon retrieving him, what was the gang to do next? Smoke down of course. In doing so they opened up the selection of portals once again. After some deliberation Ballraq decides that the green portal should be the one to take them to their next destination.

Jonas, Thenack, Dirk, Vasilius, Astaroth, Ballraq and Taun taun all appear in a beautiful and serene meadow, the smell of bud wafting in the air. Not only that, but the aroma of some smoked meats somewhere nearby. Without delay, Taun taun is sent to scout ahead only to encounter a strange group of travellers making their way back home.

The gang, although suspicious, decides to follow them back to civilization in order to find medical attention for Thenack and Dirk. Once they approached the village, it seems like this may have not been the best decision.

Will Thenack and Dirk find the help they need? Who’s running this place? Can the boys resist the temptations of Flavor Town or are they all too High Fantasy?

High Fantasy Vol. 1 - Troubles In Bazzon's Tomb

Well fed, rested, and accompanied by new allies; Astaroth, Ballraq, Vasilius, and Jonas carry on down the Volomeire Pass toward the Tomb, anxious to put more distance between themselves and the dragon that only just passed overhead.

Relieved the dragon is headed in the opposite direction, our heroes proceed with haste and immediately find themselves in another mortal situation…

As they stumble through a section of the Pass that is obviously lair for some creature, their new travelling companion Dirk offers some helpful pointers in the event of an encounter…. And then is immediately turned to stone by the lair’s inhabitant: A Basilisk.

With initiative, Thenack charges headlong, swinging his sword and inflicts damage. Ballraq follows with several arrows - some make their mark - one does not - ultimately he throws his bow near the feet of their new foe… Ballraq has room for improvement in archery and combat.

Thenack endures more damage and Astaroth springs into action swinging with Hoar’s advantage and deals massive slashing damage to the beast.

Inspired by Astaroth’s combat skills and looking for a bit of redemption following the bow debacle, Ballraq charges - gaze averted - towards his bow and the Basilisk.

Thanks to a perfect acrobatics roll, Ballraq channels his inner gymnast and vaults over the beast snatching his bow in one hand and dealing handaxe damage across the monster’s back with his other.

As our heroes and their new companions bear down on the Basilisk and consider dealing their final blows, Jonas steps up and blasts the beast with 3 bolts of energy - our little wizard is finally coming into his powers.... And then he pukes, again.

Jonas’s energy overcomes the beast and our heroes immediately move to triage the situation, loot a corpse, and feed TaunTaun - their new baby owlbear companion.

Without their leader, the party’s new companions disband but Theack remains to see this quest to finish.

After their encounter with the Basilisk, our heroes and Thenack reach their destination and enter the tomb in search of treasure and God Bud strain.

What surprises does DM Kyle have in store for our heroes inside the tomb? Will Jonas continue to surprise with effective combat and wisdom beyond his years? What the fuck about that dragon..? Find out NOW on HIGH FANTASY!!!

High Fantasy Vol. 1 - Dirk Hightower and the Treasure Hunters

After wary introductions, Astaroth, Ballraq, “Vasilius”, and Jonas carry on towards the tomb now loosely aligned with Dirk Hightower and his band of treasure hunters.

Shortly after setting off, Vaslius makes weak excuses and mysteriously disappears behind a nearby rock formation.

The elements bear down on our gallant travelers as they make their way through the Volomeir Pass and, in exchange for some bud, they make camp with new allies and strengthen their bond.

After decompressing with their new party, our heroes take a moment to divine the perks of the other strains carried in their packs

then sleep without a care over the possible encounters the next day.

In the morning, our heroes set off and, after a lucky roll, encounter breakfast in the form of a band of mutton.

The party Goliaths make quick work of the goats and barbeque ensues…

After another lazy short rest and subsequent encounter roll, our overindulgent heroes look skyward and find themselves staring at the sinister soaring figure of a White Dragon.

We rejoin our heroes having just located Jonas, lying unconscious on the floor of the cave surrounded by dragon eggs.

Brief arguments ensue and after convincing Vasilius of Jonas’s worth, they carry forward with a rescue and hasty escape.

In their hurry, our heroes find they can’t quite remember how to get back to the exit but, luck is on their side and after blasting through a few more kobold, they find themselves on the right path.

After some helpful dwarven translation from Jonas and a quick refresher of the reason for their quest from Ballraq, the party is again on the road towards discovering the GodBud and reuniting the realms.

As they near their destination, Astaroth, Ballraq, Vasilius, and Jonas are startled to find another similar sized party with seemingly coincidental intent and far greater means…

After rocky introductions, our heroes carry forward... Will these new strangers be friend or foe? Will our heroes reach the next strain of Godbud before their buzz wears off? Stay tuned for this week’s thrilling EP or HF!!!!

High Fantasy Vol. 1 - You Meet In A Cavern

Our heroes, after emerging from the orange portal high as ever, find themselves standing in the plains before a mountain range, in a torrential downpour.

Despite Ballraq’s class, he’s little help in finding shelter… Luckily, Astaroth’s superior perception roll helps the party locate a nearby cave to shield them from the rain.

The party builds a rudimentary camp and settles in for a much needed rest with Ballraq offering to take first watch.

Just when the party has drifted off to restorative sleep, Ballraq jolts Astaroth awake prompted by a curious whistling noise emanating from deeper within the cave.

Astaroth, Vasilius, and Ballraq delve deeper into the cave to investigate. With their vision aided by Vasilius’s new toy, the drift globe, our heroes identify the source of the whistling - an owlbear stranded on a nearby ledge.

After a quick moral argument, our “heroes” decide it best to allow nature to take its course and leave the owlbear to its fate.

Circled again around their makeshift camp, our heroes drift back to sleep with Astaroth taking up watch duties this time…

Taunted by the despondent cries of the stranded owlbear, Astaroth wanders from the camp briefly to share some provisions with the creature but, otherwise, completes his watch without incident.

Now nearly rested, the party, despite their gut feeling, allows young Jonas the last watch of the eve…

Mistakes were made and the party is awakened by Jonas’s bloodcurdling scream pouring out from an unknown location deep within the cave.

Without thinking, Astaroth, Ballraq, and Vasilius fly off into the darkness to rescue their companion…

Careening through the dark, our heroes are assaulted by a shower of pebbles but, thanks to Astaroth’s dark vision, they quickly identify the assailants as a band of kobolds.

Astaroth is so focused on making his identification, he stumbles and incurs damage in the clutches of a kobold trap.

This time proceeding forward with caution, our heroes carry on exterminating kobold pests as they continue their search.

Vasilius employs some particularly powerful magic to tip the scales in their favor and, after Astaroth’s dispatching of a particularly well endowed kobold, our heroes find Jonas unconscious on the ground of a cavern surrounded by several ominous looking eggs…

Have our heroes successfully located their companion and breakfast or, will the next surprise lurking the cave’s depths spoil our heroes’ HIGH FANTASY!!!!

High Fantasy Vol. 1 - Cave Cover and Killing Kobolds

We rejoin our heroes finally reunited and now equipped with information imperative to furthering their quest for the God Bud.

On the tails of confusion caused by Astaroth and Jonas’s requisition of items from the house vault, the party makes a break for the nearest exit.

Our heroes and Vasilius find themselves outside The Golden Circle with relative ease however, their path back through the labyrinth is now obscured by the hulking horned figure of Todd the Minotuar.

The party reflexively assumes a fighting formation and savage combat ensues.

The battle is a flurry of Astaroth’s longsword and Ballraq’s handaxe slashes punctuated by sexy blasts of Eldredge energy from Vasilius. Even Jonas steps up and grapples Todd with rope after rope of ectoplasm when the excitement becomes too much for him to handle.

Astaroth, only recently visible again, bears the brunt of Todd’s violence and nearly succumbs to the Minotaur’s fury…

Unconscious and incurring damage from Jonas’s poor attempt at CPR, Ballraq rushes to Astaroth’s aid and generously bequeaths live saving HP to his brother in arms.

After the party waits on Astaroth to practice a little self-appreciation and regain some more hp, they head off towards the exit and next destination on their journey.

Upon leaving the labyrinth, our heroes find themselves standing in woods that are familiar yet entirely different from before.

At a loss for how to escape this plane and proceed, the party circles up for another session with the GodBud and hopefully some enlightenment. After their first hit, our heroes find themselves before multi-colored portals yet again.

After some quick discourse, Astaroth, Ballraq, Vasilius, and Jonas reach an agreement and proceed through the orange portal in search of the first sub-strain of the God Bud in hopes that the holy smoke will unite the realms.

Will our heroes survive this next tumble through time and space? Will another character named for a listener be cruelly murdered off? Find out now on the thrilling next episode of High Fantasy!

High Fantasy Vol. 1 - Just Todding Around

We rejoin our heroes, each engaged in solo missions:

Astaroth, currently incarcerated for his own clumsiness, is surprised to find a filth-covered Jonas unconscious in the adjacent cell.

After rousing Jonas and trying to help him clean up, Astaroth is again astounded when Todd the Minotuar barges into holding with another tenant. After Todd’s gruff exit, the newcomer introduces herself as Dani Ocean; a bluetiful Genasi adventurer with a thirst for revenge.

Surprisingly crafty, Ocean springs the cell door and entices Jonas and a reluctant Astaroth to join her in a plot involving invisibility and some good old thieving…

Meanwhile Ballraq, having slipped into restricted space on the heels of Astaroth’s clumsy debacle, begins searching for anything that might help on their quest.

Upon entering a room, he’s astonished to find the evening’s headlining entertainment, a Satyr Warlock named Vasilius, engaged in an exchange of illicit items and consumables with an intriguing pixie.

After somewhat awkward introductions, Ballraq learns Vasilius is actually an acquaintance of Astaroth’s and the pixie in fact holds information and items of great import on their quest for the God Bud.

Will Astaroth, Ballraq, and Vasilius escape the Golden Circle with fat stacks and carry forward on their quest for The God Bud or will the pixies telling of the legend be forgotten; another hazy recollection of HIGH FANTASY!!!

After a comedy of rookie errors, our heroes awake face to face with an iconic inhabitant of the labyrinth.

Todd The Minotaur turns out to be a pretty sweet bro that kindly escorts Astaroth and Ballraq to the Golden Circle at the labyrinth’s center.

Upon arrival, our heroes find themselves standing before a bilevel establishment with an ornate facade that’s dazzling yet familiar.

They enter and Ballraq finds himself standing before a wonderland of chance and profit; Astaroth, on the other hand, is immediately overcome with anxiety and shame in this house of risk and temptation.

Ballraq scans the interior searching for Jonas while Astaroth wrestles with his personal gambling demons.

Our heroes quickly learn they’re not quite on the financial level of the house and hatch a scheme to gain access to restricted areas.

More comedy ensues when Astaroth cocks it up and lands himself in the slammer. Ballraq, however, successfully darts into uncharted territory and continues the search for their lost companion.

Will our heroes emerge successful in what has become solo adventuring? Can they afford forgotten-realm dry cleaning prices or are the fees simply too HIGH FANTASY???!?!?!?
