I have quite a lotta ground to cover with Gav in this episode, we had plenty to talk about!

Firstly, we'll of course be chatting about the band's brilliant brand new album, 'A Place For Those Who Suffer, Alone', which was released in January. We'll be chatting about how that album came together, going through the tracks, the recording process, the complexities that went into recording it and the features.

Then we'll be chatting about, which caught me by surprise, the band are already back in the studio working on an EP that is set to be released this year. So we'll be getting early insight into what this EP is shaping up to sound like.

I'll of course be talking to Gav also about the band's awesome Slipknot cover of 'Sic', that was released in November.

Myself and Michael had quite a lot to cover in this particular episode.

We'll first be talking about his previous band, Virgins, and why that band has disbanded, how they ended the band, their final show and how that process lead into the music he works on now with Silk!

We'll then be covering Silk's upcoming release, a mini album titled 'Auralux', which is set for release in May. The mini-record has one single out at the moment, a visceral and cinematic tune that sets the stage for what fans can expect when the full release is out. We'll be going through the whole release, from inception, to recording, to the inspiration to Jim Carrey.

I have heard the mini-album and there is a serious heft and raucousness to the release, it's going to blow people away when they get to hear it.

On top of all this the band, will have an extensive touring schedule over the year so make sure to grab tickets when you get the chance!

I had loved this band since the moment I saw them play Metal 2 The Masses in Fibbers, a competition which they ended up winning and they are a band that never to blow me away with their incredible live performances and their brand of side splitingly heavy music - This was a huge treat for myself to have them on the show!

You may know Ryan from his work as the frontman for the phenomenal band, Brass Phantoms, but he is on today's episode to talk about his newest musical venture, a solo project by the name of Cashell!

Inspired by zine culture, Cashell has taken a DIY approach to his writing - recording and mixing all of his music.

He has released two singles to date, 'Said and Done' and most recently, 'These Things Take Time', which will be a part of his debut EP that is set to be released in March.

I'll be chatting with Ryan about why he began to make music as a solo artist, the trails and tribulations that working as a solo artist comes with, his upcoming debut EP and the music and gig culture in Scotland, where Ryan is based.

You may know Adam from his previous work with the exceptionally brilliant band, Brass Phantoms but since then, he has embarked on his own solo adventure with this musical project.

Over the summer, Holy Grinder decided to call it a day, much to my disappointment as I loved what this band had put out!

So with this episode, myself and AC will be chatting about why that decision was made, the final run of shows the band played, the legacy of Holy Grinder, from favourite shows and the amazing bands they have played with over the years as well as discussing the genre of Grindcore as a whole and what it represents in today's world along with a bunch of other topics and avenues of conversation we went down, which I was even surprised we chatted about.

I will miss this band very dearly but I really can't wait to see what AC puts out next!

This single is the fourth from the band's upcoming debut album, 'Black Doll's Eyes', which is to be released on the 25th of November. The album has been produced by Christian Best, mixed by Dan Fox and mastered by Jamie Hyland. 

Speaking about The Inheritance of Fear, lead singer James O'Donnell said: “This album explores the ways fear is passed down; through generations, through relationships, through the stories we tell ourselves. It looks at the psychological weight of inherited anxieties, the way past traumas shape our present, and how we either break free or become trapped in these cycles. It examines past memories and re-imagines the lives of those that may have influenced the people we are today. It was an exercise in self-discovery, unearthing all those skeletons….so to speak! Doireann Ní Ghríofa's “To Star the Dark” inspired many of the album’s themes, as did the surrealism of TS Eliot's “The Wasteland” and Samuel Beckett's “Waiting for Godot.” 

I'll be going through the album with James track by track and talking about the themes explored in each of the songs, the recording process, the new techniques used on the album and the stunning music video for the single, 'Idolise'.

I'll be chatting with the lads about their brand new debut album 'Confessions of a Pub Talker', which was released on September 19th.

With 'Confessions Of A Pub Talker', Scustin flip the stereotype of Irish drinking culture on its head. Rather than depicting the pub as a site of excess, they portray it as a communal refuge, which is depicted through the characters and situations encountered by Larry, the bartender of the Pub the story takes place in. Through Larry, Scustin weave stories full of heart and humour, turning each track into a snapshot of life in the public house, complete with its messy, magical humanity.

I'll be going through the album track by track with the guys, talking about the inspirations behind the stories and music, who is the character Larry, what it's like to drink cans in a field with Matt Damon, working with Richie Kennedy (who recorded and produced the album) and why you shouldn't put blackcurrant in a Guinness.

Following their universally critically-acclaimed debut, 'Letter To Self', SPRINTS are releasing their second album 'All That Is Over' this Friday. Myself and Eli are going to be chatting about how this band began, the band's that informed Listowell's sound but primarily we'll be chatting about the band's excellent debut single 'Paychecks'.

An absolute rager of a tune, Eli explains that 'Paychecks about not letting money or your job define you, and that no matter how scary the world seems right now, people have the power to change the world they live in if they’re bold enough to do something about it.’ 

‘Paychecks’ was recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Joe ‘Janksy’ McGuirk in Sonic Studios, Dublin and will be released on September 25th, this Thursday.

The band will also be playing tonight as part of the Gig for Gaza at The Grand Social, with all proceeds from the show going towards the Palestinian Red Crescent.

This band blew me away opening up the siege earlier this year with their incredibly energetic and captivating performance so it's a real pleasure to have had the opportunity to sit down and chat with them.

I'll be chatting with Uly about how their creative journey in music began, the music video for that's no way to fly (Which I genuinely consider to be one of the best Irish music video out there), his brilliant EP 'sometimes sad, sometimes groovy', his latest single with PIRACYISTHEFT and the shoot for the music video of 'Binary Love', his new collaboration with Lod, which is under the name luvsample.

I'll be chatting with Robby and Chelsea about how the band formed, their brilliant EP 'Exposure Therapy', which was released last year, their single 'Like That', released in February and their latest single 'Your World', released yesterday and the song that will be the primary focus of this episode.

‘Your World’ finds the band embracing their garage rock and pop influences alongside their usual desert grunge. As though The Stooges tied The Kinks to their jeep while Brody Dalle’s Spinnerette drove through the desert with The Hives soundtracking the whole sordid scene. The song writing here is sharp and concise with a focus on dynamics and melody. Chelsea’s vocals have never sounded more confident alongside some blistering guitar hooks from Robbie.

The band also have a bunch of shows coming up for the rest of summer, including Gazefest in Belfest on August 30th so make sure to grab tickets to see them!

Also the guitarist/songwriter in Belfast shoegaze band Virgins,  Michael leans into the heavier end of shoegaze spectrum than his main project.

The primary focus of this episode will be Silk's latest single, 'but then, yes', which was released on June 26th.

On 'but then, yes', Michael further expands his sound, as the song dovetails between almost impenetrable vast walls of fuzz, to shimmering dreamy passages building to a devastating crescendo. The track also features vocals from AJ Das of Dublin shoegazers, Picture Postcard. Lyrically the song delves into the evolution of connection between people over time, from plutonic to romantic and into something deeper, capturing the electricity as emotions experience that slow but seismic shift. 

Written, performed and recorded by Michael, when it came time to mix the song he turned to long time collaborator Jonny Woods (1980 Something Studios, Wynona Bleach) and Jon Moorehead of Moosetronix to master the track. The impetus for the project is described by Michael, “I constantly feel like I am rushing towards the inevitable infinite oblivion. Further exacerbated by the marking of years spent circling the sun. To that end, it’s important that I fill the time remaining with joyous, creative acts. The sharing of ideas is an essential part of that, which brings us to Silk.” The single is released ahead of the first live dates for Silk, which will see members of Broncos, Ferals and Wynona Bleach take up position in the live band.

I'll be joined by Darragh and Ciaran about the band's debut album, 'Weekend at the Martello', which is available on July 16th, this Wednesday!

Combining heavy rock'n'roll with lyrical wit and storytelling, Daddee’s music is a cocktail of dark humour and social commentary. Taking cues from Queens of the Stone Age, LCD Soundsystem, Courtney Barnett, and Viagra Boys, the band crafts a sound that’s at once raw, melodic, and unpredictable.

Weekend at the Martello is a concept album set in a seedy pub by the sea — The Martello. Each track offers a glimpse into the life of a different, often troubled or absurd, patrons. The result is a vivid gallery of characters rendered with dark humour and blistering energy. Several of these personas are portrayed in the album’s striking artwork.

The album was recorded primarily in a DIY home studio/bedroom, with drums tracked at Beardfire Studio, and mixed by Gary O’Reilly.

To celebrate the release of this wonderful album, Daddee will be playing their launch show this Friday alongside Queen Bitch and Zizou in Sin E. Ticket are available for that through Eventbrite.

The Keening is Rebecca's Portland-based solo music project, who led SLC doom metal band SubRosa for 13 years.

She released her debut album 'Little Bird' in 2023, which is an album I can't recommend enough and is currently working on her second album, which we will chat about in this episode.

The primary focus of this episode though is The Keening's latest single, 'Hell is a Mirror', which was released in June and is a song that goes out to the perpetrators and enablers of the Gaza genocide. A deeply emotional and powerful song, I'll be talking with Rebecca about firstly why she wrote the song, how the song was made and then the Gaza genocide and the responses she's received from using her voice to talk about the injustices going on there.

The song is available on Bandcamp and 100% of all proceeds from the sales for this song (minus PayPal fees) will be donated to Gaza Mutual Aid Solidarity (GMAS).

I can say it enough how much of an influence Rebecca's music has had on myself, still in disbelief I got to interview her so it was an enormous pleasure to chat to her, especially for a cause like this.

We'll be covering the band's latest EP, 'RTO', which was released on June 7th.

Following the release of their debut album ‘Eat With Your Eyes’, expectation was high for album number two. The band retreated to their Belfast practice space and began working up new material. After writing almost 3 albums worth of material the band took stock and decided that a fresh approach to the new material was required. The band were keen to move away from previous structurally complex songs and focus on a more straight forward and groove orientated while maintaining the markers of the Mob Wife sound. This new approach is heard on ‘ROT’ with the band working collaboratively through ideas, developing their sound further and expanding on ideas which resulted in the bands most realised work to date.

I'll be going through the EP with Chris track by track, breaking down how each song was constructed and recorded, along with focusing on the key themes that the EP explores.

Self-appointed Dublin “velourcore” band, Pretty Ltd's latest body of work is my favourite of their outputs so far, I absolutely adore every track on the EP. We'll be covering the EP track by track, talking about where the songs originated from, the themes the EP cover and the wild story of the origin behind 'Scumbag Mary'.

We'll also be covering the recording process for this EP and the illustration that serves as the cover art.

The drumming recording was done by Donal Bowen of Idle Discourse and the rest of the recording was done by Stephan Cannon, who both did a tremendous job on this EP. The fantastic cover art was created by Chris Craig of Vendetta Love.

I'm going to be chatting to Danny about his new album, 'Burning Rome', which was released on the 25th of April.

This is a concept album focussing on issues like climate change, the environment, war, inequality, homelessness and police brutality. These songs are inspired by the classic soul singers such as Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. Expect music for the mind and for the feet, brought to life by a superb band of top funk and jazz players including backing vocals and a horn section.

One of the single's off the album, 'Never Going Home', has a beautiful accompanying animated music video which was created by Marc Corrigan, which we also be talking about in detail.

I'll be chatting to the guys about their debut album, 'Hills of Breifne', which was released on May 30th.

The album tells the bizarre story of how the strong friendship of Lil' Phynott and Mildly Fool!sh has kept them surviving and thriving amongst the community of outsiders in their homeland of Cavan.

The songwriting covers themes of manipulation, substance abuse and narrow-minded attitudes of small town cliques, a personal commentary on modern social dysfunction in rural Ireland.

These themes are illustrated not only by the lyrical content but also by the audio samples weaved throughout the album which were spontaneously captured by Dirty Marmalade in their day to day lives. These samples include: inscrutable drunken arguments, boasting boy racers, angry voice messages & various eccentric encounters.

I first met Roger at this year's Siege of Limerick but I felt like I've met years ago as his record label were largely responsible for my initial long love of extreme music, where I would buy all the music from the incredible musicians that he has all the label.

I'll be chatting with Roger about how this label began, the band's he has under the label and of course we will be chatting about the amazing work that he does with Monk Fest, which is a festival that raises money for the brave kids, and heroic staff at Temple St. Children's Hospital, and to honour the memory of his niece Ash who was so well looked after by Temple St. in her final months. It is in it's fourth year and each year features the most stacked lineup of Metal music in Ireland.

I first heard of this band through Dexter of Their Last Stop and was immediately impressed with the blends of Folk, Death, Gothic and Black Metal. I was then even more impressed when I found out they are only 17 and are playing Extreme music like band's that have been doing it for years.

I'll be chatting to the band about how the band began, where the name of the band comes from and their most recent releases like 'Judah', 'To Love, To Bear Children' and 'Barbarosa'.

Tide7 are a Metal-Hardcore band from Cork who have just released one of the heaviest EPs I think I'll hear all year, titled 'Rinse and Repeat'

Tzompantli embodies indigenous ritualism and spirituality in their sound and style. With themes of indigenous history and a brutal massive sound that incorporates native indigenous folk instruments. It makes for a truly special experience and atmosphere for any listener. The band's name for example is Nahuatl for "skull rack" which was used for the public display of human skulls, typically those of war captives or other sacrificial victims.

I'll be chatting with Brian, who is the founding member of the band, about how this band began, the lyrical and musical themes explored in the music, the importance of keeping indigenous history alive, how great Crowbar are and Brian's appreciation for how amazing the Cranberries are.

The primary focus of this episode however will be about the band's massive sophomore album,'Beating the Drums of Ancestral Force', which remains one of my favourite releases of 2024 for it's sheer brutality and utterly unique sound.

Haunted Images is the singular vision of Louth based producer and songwriter David O’Farrell-McGeary, who has previously been on the podcast under the david ofmg. Under this guise David creates beautiful, ethereal alt-rock shoegaze. Juxtaposing modern alt-metal influences Deftones and Deafheaven, against the left field ambience of Aphex Twin and shoegaze mainstays My Bloody Valentine, gives David his signature sound. One that, in equal parts, shimmers like a graceful celestial body, while at the same time with the dense wall of sound production, cascades over you like wave. Following the successful release of singles ‘if you want’, ‘grey days’, ‘sometimes’ and the stunning ‘stay awake’, which caught the attention of Hot Press, Golden Plec, Genuine Irish, Pure M Zine, Independent.ie, Ragged Cast and Rock N Load, David now returns with his self titled album, Haunted Images. This marks his largest and most realised body of work to date. An album that lyrically comes from a place of deep introspection and thematically addresses forgiveness in many different forms, an album that seeks to bring light to the impending darkness.

I'll be going through the album with David, talking about his favourite songs on it, the stylistic changes from his previous work, the imagery created for the album by the extremely talented Chloe Harte, the creative balance on working on your own music and whole bunch more.

The album is out tomorrow and there is also an album launch party at The Watchtower, McHughs in Drogheda on the 25th of April with Khidye as the supporting act!

Formed originally in 2012, and with a long hiatus following the release of the band's debut EP 'Satellites', the band re-formed in 2019. After completing the writing process for their first full length album the band decided to tour Ireland after Covid had shut down live performances for the previous two years. Following a successful run of shows nationally the band knuckled down to the task of recording debut album ‘Tomorrow’s Sky’, and it’s been well worth the wait!

I'll be chatting with Dave and Ken about the band's inception, the hiatus and then of course going through their fantastic debut album 'Tomorrow's Sky' with them, which is an album I can't wait to see performed live.

The band has a slew of shows planned for the coming months, including a support slow with the awesome band that is Vendetta Love on July 5th and a planned headline show with friends of the podcast, Gather Lost, down the line.

For this episode, I'll be chatting with the guys first off about how this band was setup, their first EP 'No One After Us, Nothing After This', which was released last year but the majority of this episode will be about their upcoming EP, 'After The Goodbye' which is set to be released at the end of this month. The band has released one song off the EP so far, titled 'Pedestal', which if that song is anything to go by the EP is going to be something really special.

I first caught these guys when they played at Worn Out's first UK Headliner show in Manchester back in February and was extremely impressed to the point i knew I just had to have them on the podcast.

The band just released their latest single, 'Ego Death', last week which will serve as the primary focus of this episode. This song serves as the first song to be heard from the band's much anticipated debut album, 'Reverence', which will be released on the 13 of June.

I'll be chatting with the band about how they formed, their writing process, recording and getting a little insight into their album and favorite songs to look out for.

Formerly the lead singer with Dublin pop-rockers The Dead Flags, Billy has been plying his solo trade around Ireland for the past few years, patiently building an audience with his earworm songs and hilarious online videos. And now with the release of his debut album, Billy is poised for greater attention.

He released his debut album, 'A Grand Romantic Gesture', on February 20th which will serve as the primary focus of this episode. We'll be talking about the album's writing process, the instrumentations, mastering the album in Abbey Road and directing the extremely fun and creative music videos.

His songs relate touching tales of failed romance through upbeat melodies and ultra-catchy choruses, delivered with soaring falsetto vocals and a wry sense of lyrical humour. Billy describes his music as “songs about heartbreak that make you want to dance”.

Apple of Basilisk is a Toronto-based metal band, formed in 2024.

After taking their time tightening up last year, including recording their debut 5 song EP, 'His Crowned Skull Raised to the Sun' which will be released on April 4th, they are now ready to unleash their grinding, blackened death-doom maelstrom on the world. Fans of Cult Leader, Deafheaven, Napalm Death, and Mare will be pleased.

I'll be chatting with Liam and Peter about the EP, covering all the songs in the 5 track EP, recording with the renowned Davis Maxwell at School House Studios, the ideas and inspiration behind the music and what the band has planned for the future.

The EP really is fantastic, anybody who likes their music on the more extreme side of things should check it out on April 4th and I cannot wait to see what people's reactions to it are when it's released.

One of Dublin’s finest and loudest alt rock prospects, Forty Foot, release their largest body of work to date, their debut EP ‘Body Breaking’. The release comes following the success of their two 2024 singles ‘Toothache’ and ‘Constellation’ which caught the attention of Golden Plec, Hot Press, First Music Contact, Rock N Load, Genuine Irish, The Beat.ie, IMRO and Ragged Cast, with radio play from Code Zero Radio and New Music Sonar. 

The production on the EP is massive and powerful but doesn’t lack nuance. Each sound, each instrument, given its own space and plays a significant part in creating their sound. The tracks conjure a feeling and a sense that the band are right there, in the room with you, with each chord you can almost feel the air the speakers move. To capture their sound and bottle this feeling the band made the decision to record in their own rehearsal space. Turning to long-time collaborator Conor McLoughlin of Dublin rock sweethearts Sick Love to engineer and mix the EP, it was paramount to the band that it was imbued with the energy of their space.

Angel Croitor is a music video producer, director, and cinematographer who specialises in high-concept work for independent musicians in Ireland. If you've seen an amazing music video for an Irish metal act, chances are it was made by Angel. The list of artists he has worked with in the past include Horrenda, Grey Stag, Dead Label, Idle Discourse, Glasseyed and Words that Burn - to name but a few!

I'll be chatting with Angel about what drew him to film as a media, his shooting and editing process, some of the videos he's worked on such as 'Axewound' by Horrenda and 'Cauldron Born' by Grey Stag, live photography and working with Metal 2 the Masses and Bloodstock.

Deathbloom is a four-piece "dreamo" girl band hailing from Manchester, UK. I was fortunate enough to catch this band open for Worn Out at their first UK headliner last month and have been an avid fan since. Their unique blend of Shoegaze, ethereal, dreamy soundscapes with metal and hardcore influences leads to an impressively dynamic and immersive sound.

I'll be chatting with Sofia about how the band began, their brilliant EP, 'Ophelia Sees', which was released last year, being a girl band in a male dominated scene and the very exciting plans the band has in store for 2025.

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Phantom Lung blend the most unhinged, violent and abrasive characteristics of Grindcore, Death Metal and Hardcore, they leave no doubt that they have become one of the most talked about premier acts in the Canadian Extreme Heavy music scene.

After releasing 3 EP's in 2023, the band spent 2024 dedicated to experimenting angles in regards to perfecting the live performance and atmosphere and writing their highly anticipated released for 2025. Their first release of 2025 is their latest single 'Starving to Serve', a ferocious song that instantly had me hooked on the band's sound.

Formed in the early 2010s in Quebec City (Canada), APES is renowned for their distinctive fusion of grindcore, black metal, and hardcore. The band was conceived with a singular purpose: to craft heavy and unapologetically relentless music, breaking down all barriers in their path.

Their album 'Penitence', released last year, was my personal favourite album of the year, an immensely powerful record to listen to so to have them on the podcast is a true pleasure.

I'll basically be doing a year in review with Kyle in this episode, discussing the band becoming a 4 piece with new members Eoin and Ryan, the tours they went on this year, what it's like playing on a moving boat and of course, talking about the band's phenomenal debut EP, Glórach, which was released last year and was one of my personal favourite releases of the year and of course talking about what 2025 is looking like for the band.

This is the type of guest that I would call a triple threat as Nathan Mac is the type of creative individual that excels at many different creative avenues to express himself, which includes Music, filmmaking, theatre and of course Circus!

I'll be going through Nathan's created journey by firstly talking how his interest in music began and how he became a musical artist, his love of circus and he incorporates that into his live performances, the film he wrote, starred and produced called 'Learning Curve' that was directed my friend Chiara Viale, his stage shows and all that he has planned for us in 2025.

‘Gather the Lost’ are an exciting Dublin-based alternative rock band that officially launched onto the music scene in March 2022. A project that was originally started early in 2020 by Dublin born Singer/Frontwoman Carolyn Dunne but was quickly interrupted by the hit of the Covid19 pandemic.

Joining Carolyn is Guitarist Alan Franklin, who hails from Brazil; Brian Dunne on Bass who originates from Dundalk and the latest addition from Dublin, Drummer Ronan Sherlock who joined in 2024.

Each band member brings forward years of experience, skills, and passion into the group, creating a powerful and distinct sound that won’t be easily forgotten.

Siúcra are a sextet hailing from Galway who's musical style includes spoons of Blues rock, Folk, Trad and a shimmering of Shoegaze.

A one-man band (with one of the coolest logos going) and probably one of the most brutal sounding bands to be on the podcast, I'll be chatting with Lymphoedema about how is interest in extreme music began, how this project started, where the inspiration for his sounds come from and basically just chatting about the extreme and experimental aspects of this kind of metal.

Anyone who knows me or listens to the show knows I love my Grindcore so this was a really interesting and fun guest to have the on show. This man's output is absolutely incredibly, releasing a tonne of EP, singles, albums and splits, even in just 2024 alone. He's really pushing the boundaries of what can be done with extreme music. I myself certainly haven't heard of anything like it coming out of Ireland.

For this episode, I'll be chatting to Richard about his film, 'We Swallow the Ocean', which is a documentary about the creation of Partholon's incredible album 'The Ocean Pours In'. We'll be discussing how the idea came about for creating this documentary, how it was shot and complexities, highs and lows that go into shooting a film. All the location's featured in the documentary are all relevant to the stories explored in the band's album.

'We Swallow the Ocean' went on to win Underground Film Festival 'Best Documentary Winner' in November, 2024 with the The Underground Cinema Film Festival being an IFTA (Irish Film & Television Academy) Affiliated International Film Festival located in Dublin in Ireland.

Of course we'll also be chatting about Richard's incredible podcast, The Metal Cell, which has been a massive influence and inspiration on my own podcast. What Richard has built with that show is nothing short of incredible, drawing in the best and biggest names of the Irish Metal scene and beyond, with impeccable research and just fantastically insightful and often hilarious conversations in every episode. Shayatin formed from the discontinued alt-rock band Late Night Pharmacy, who previously were awarded funding as part of the Department of Culture’s Music Industry Stimulus Package. It is the first band to feature local singer-songwriter Emma Lohan, whose strident, powerful lead vocals lend palpable emotion to the instrumentals.

In this episode I’ll be chatting to Fionn and Emma about the band’s  brilliant debut EP, ‘Yakub’s Ladder’, which was released in November and is an incredible trio of songs that is sure, which to captivate audiences with its fierce post-hardcore sound, thought-provoking lyrics and all-encompassing atmosphere.

I'll be chatting with James about the beginnings of his interest in music, how this band was formed and the band's debut single, 'Dirty Chin', which was released in October of this year.

Written by James as a subconscious way to process the grief of losing his uncle, he was careful to keep the song from being drenched in sadness, instead aiming for a hopeful tone. This is all woven into a rich sonic tapestry, featuring gnarly fuzz bass, torn-speaker guitars juxtaposed with delicate acoustic picking, and driven by Albini-esque drums. The song also has an accompanying music video, which was actually shot in James' uncle's home.

On top of all this we'll be chatting about what the band has planned for 2025, including some news about the band's next single and other stories such as Peter Steele of Type O Negative on Jerry Springer and how great 'Stop Making sense' is.

I'll be interviewing the lads about two significant milestones, 10 years as a band and 30 years of amazing friendship and how it's shaped the band and their sound and what the band has in store for us in 2025.

We'll also of course be covering the band's latest single 'Sonova Beach', which has an accompanying music video featuring many familiar faces of the incredible Cork music scene including a starring role of Worn Out's own, Evan Prendergast!

And finally we'll be going over Narrow Door Records, it's impact on the Cork music scene and the future plans which include the incredible studio space that's been recently built for it.

And with this studio space, Alex was very kind to invite me down to his house and spend the weekend with himself and his lovely family, eating incredible Italian food (the rumours are true, his cooking is impeccable) and then record the first ever live version of the podcast on video, recorded entirely by the incredibly talented Dylan Scully.

I'm joined on the podcast by Tristan to talk about the band's brand new single, 'Witches X Bitches', which will be released this Thursday on the 12th of December, a much scarier day than Friday the 13th.

I'll be chatting with the guys about their brilliant debut album, 'Songs of Last Resort', which was released on October 24th and features such electrifying singles as 'Turn On', 'Doom' and 'Sparks'

Over the course of 9 songs, they explore themes of love and loss, relationship dynamics, dealing with the human condition as well as despair and despondency at the world around them. These are the songs of retaliation, as the brothers try and make sense of the modern world. If there’s a soundtrack to the of the world, this is it.

Thematically the record is dark and heavy, not afraid to go the recesses of one’s psyche or explore the darker side of human existence always with one eye on annihilation, of the self, others, or the world. The gargantuan noise that the two brothers create should take two or three times their number. Guitars move from surfy reverb to buzzsaw distortion drenched destruction. Brian's drums provide purpose and drive to parts, accentuating guitar lines and vocal patterns, almost goading James into pushing harder and further than before. A stunning debut that far exceeds the sum of its parts

On this episode I am joined on the show by Rob Moore of the 3 piece experimental Punk band, Fierce Shook, from Tullamore. We're going to primarily be chatting about the band's second EP, 'Something Sophisticated', which was released this year on the 11th of October and was produced by Shauny Cads in Last Light Studios, Dublin. The 4 track EP is absolutely fantastic, featuring awesome, heavy-as-hell, high energy punk that I can't recommend enough.

I'll be going through the EP with Rob and chatting about it's inception and the recording process, the inspiration and themes explored in the music, the brilliant artwork and logo created by Paul Duffy and what the band has in store for us in the future as well as chatting about the Irish punk scene and all the amazing bands the country has to offer at the moment.

We will primarily be chatting about the band's fantastic self-titled EP, which was released last year, establishing the band as a brilliant new addition to Ireland's extreme music scene. I'll be going through the EP with Dexter, chatting about how the band was formed and what led to the EP's inception, it's lyrical themes, musical influences and recording process.

I'll also be chatting to Dexter about where the band got their name, modern Black Metal and what the band have been working on and what lies in store for 2025.

As anyone who listens to the podcast knows, I love me some Black Metal so it was a real treat to talk about the genre with someone like Dexter who seems to have an Encyclopaedic knowledge of the genre.

I'll be chatting with the lads about their incredible new album, 'Scavenger', which was released on November 8th and features some of the bleakest, pummelling Metal I've heard on any album all year - I literally can't recommend it enough.

On top of all this we'll be chatting about the tour they are embarking on with the fantastic band, Hundred Year Old Man. It begins tonight in the Sound House, Dublin and will be taking the tour across Ireland and England over the 10 days.

The band last month releasd their largest body of work to date, the EP ‘Love & Other Obsessions’. The EP showcases a band acknowledging their past but always reaching toward the future, bringing contemporary sounds in to support emotionally extravagant songwriting, that according to the band explores the idea of love as the ultimate vice. This EP is essential listening from a band at the height of their abilities.

I will be breaking down the entire EP with Shane, going through each track individually, dissecting their meaning and how they were constructed, including the engineering work Shane did on the EP, his first time doing this with the band.

I first met Tokoloshe in Sin E (adding to the ever extending list of guests on this podcast through that bar) and after his performance we spent the night having a lovely chat about how awesome Sepultura are and how he should come on the podcast. So it was fantastic to finally have him on, especially since we'll be chatting about his lovely latest single, 'Cosmic Holiday', which was released last week on October 7th.

The audio-visual collaboration is made using the sounds of Irish Bronze Age musical instruments in tandem with abstracted imagery of Irish Flora.

In this episode we will be talking about how this project began, the ancient sites the pair visited when researching for the project, the instruments played (all of which I've never even heard of), how you go about composing music that has no original sheet music for it or recordings, how Róisín created the beautiful visuals for the project and how people have died playing the instruments - I'm deadly serious, that has happened.

I had the pleasure of getting to see an example of what way this work would take form in and was really blown away at the combination of the music that Oisín has composed for this project played alongside the audio-visual's Róisín created, perfectly in sync and flowing with each other throughout the piece. Friday night at Unit 44 will be an event not to be missed. Tickets will be available at the door for €5.

Zach would be the man that I'd largely credit with sparking my love for music and live shows, being the first person to take me to local shows and introduce me to a whole different side to music that I didn't even know existed.

You may know Zach from his previous band Munky, his work with Skinner (You can hear Zach on Skinner's latest single,'New Wave Vaudeville', which is fantastic if you haven't heard it) and he's currently on tour with Sprints, who just opened for Idles last night.

For this episode though, we'll be chatting about Zach's new musical project, lil cis, and his debut album set to be released later this year. It's a fantastically beautiful album from start to finish and features a whole host of amazing musicians playing alongside him on the album. We will be talking about the band's album 'nothing hurt and everything was beautiful', released in April through blowtorch records. The album finds the band exploring a wider sonic palette, seamlessly moving between the gaze-pop of ‘slowly, long’ and ‘disappearer’, to the dance influenced ‘softer’ and to the heavy, expansive and ethereal ‘pale fire’ and ‘tend’. Their captivating sound doesn’t rely on recycling shoegaze tropes but brings a fresh and contemporary approach to the genre. It is legitimately one of my favourite releases of the year.

On top of all this, Michael is also a promoter and do PR as Old Crows Promotions and a booking agent as Fever Dream Touring so we'll be chatting about some of the events he has put on, including Gazefest, which is a shoegaze festival that will be going on in Belfast and Dublin this year, featuring an incredible stacked lineup of incredible bands.

Hailing from Kilkenny, I first heard of these guys through Luke from Raise The Bar!, who was alarmed that I had never listened to them and once I gave their album a go, was immediately hooked. Their album, 'Get Active', released in April of this year, is a fantastic blend of pure Rock'n'Roll and with a modern twist that is just mad fun for the entire duration of it's 45 minute runtime.

We'll be chatting about the album in full, going into some of the themes explored, who the hell Gunther Brown is, the very interesting way the album was recorded and a bunch of other side stories along the way.

Describing their sound as noise-laden, heavily discordant black, death & doom metal, I first caught this band live where they opened for Horrenda during their headline show in Fibbers a couple of months ago and was immediately hooked by the sheer sonic-assault of their performance.

I'll be chatting to the band about the fantastic EP that they released last year called 'Renounce the Flesh', which is some of the most uncompromising metal I've heard in a long time and I will also be chatting about the album the band are currently working on, which I really can't wait for already.

Mostly known for acclaimed production work for artists such as Sello, Curtisy, Kojaque, Aoife Wolf, EMBY and Pippa Molony, Rory seamlessly traverses mainstream and experimental sounds. He is the current AVA Festival Producer of the Year recipient.

His work has landed him on countless end of year lists over the past 3 years, having seen support from several acclaimed artists such as Rejjie Snow, Lord Apex, Machine Girl, Objekt, Neffa T, Oblig, Kelly Moran, Sha Ru, MI EL, Will Bankhead, Maria Somerville, DJ Spit, J Colleran (MMOTHS) and Shampain.’

We will be primarily chatting about the album Rory just released, which is titled Carlos Danger Presents: Irish Hash Mafia, which features 12 MCs rapping over incredible beats that Rory made.

Irish Hash Mafia mixtape is a love letter to the DIY sound and ethos of 90s Southern Hip Hop, as well as a time capsule of the left field DIY sounds being explored by the Irish underground. Myself and a lot of the artists here are starting to get caught up in the cogs of the music industry and I think its important to put out this mixtape as an archive of the free spirited sounds we’ve been exploring together over the past 2-3 years.

The mixtape, While primarily being southern trap, also explores other fringe sounds, such as experimental grime and abstract hip hop amongst others.

The Vagabond Queen is a Spoken Word Artist, Noir writer and Poet who puts on a truly unique and captivating performance when you see her live.

She is also the curator for The Queen's Cauldron, a night that showcases some of the top talent we have in Ireland at the moment, displaying a wide variety in styles and genre.

We'll be chatting about where The Vagabond Queen's interest began in spoken word poetry, first time performances, her trip to Paris, her visual poetry video titled 'Le Monde N'existe Pas' and many other stories.

For this episode we'll be doing a deep dive on Emileo's incredible new EP, 'A Thief of Mother's Milk', which was released on May 7th and it's genuinely one of my favorite releases of the year so far. It's absolutely gorgeous from start to finish.

The EP conceptually illuminates the process of the modern human being deprived of affection and love. It claims that there is no such thing as a bad heart, just one that is shivering in the freezing cold of withdrawal and loss. The EP takes the listener through seven chapters of a world of loneliness where love turns into a disease.

The EP is written and produced by Emileo herself, mixed by James Eager (The Scratch) and mastered by Peter Montgomery (Tame Impala, Bicep). The songs ‘Mother’s milk’ and ‘No One’s daughter’ feature Emileo’s mother recalling the experience of giving birth to her daughter, and Dara Abdurahman (Bricknasty)

plays bass on the song ‘Marrakesh’.

The EP's last song Fata Morgana (पार्थ) features a music video which is shot in Southern Spain and Morocco and is released today!

On the 14th of May, Emileo will celebrate 'A Thief of Mother's milk' in her EP Launch Experience in the bunker of the Pawnshop where she will perform the whole EP live, which has completely sold out!

A fantastic artist, I first came across her work from her collaboration with silverglass on the song 'Seraph', and then listened to her own material and I became a fan quite literally immediately after listening. She has 4 singles out currently, each one of them showcasing her brilliant creative and experimental qualities.

The music from SPOOKLET is incredible and the live shows are an absolute must see. I've been fortunate to have seen two performances of SPOOKLET's and each time I was completely floored.

The band are also the hosts to a new dedicated night for all things Post-Rock, Math-rock and Prog-Rock called 'White Noise', an event which held it's first night last Saturday alongside two fantastic bands, DasGak! and Silverglass.

One of the most exciting, abrasive and certainly loud bands at the moment, I'll be chatting to the lads about how the band began, their two latest singles, 'Who Knows' and 'Budgie' (Including a very funny story about the origin of the aforementioned song) and how they mark a new era and sound for the band, loudest bands, Bon Jovi, and what the band is working towards next!

The first time I saw this band I was completely floored by the sheer heft of their sound and the energy on stage, been a fan ever since so to have them on the podcast is really awesome - The lads had me laughing throughout the whole episode.

Moth Poet is a Paris-born poet and visual artist of Irish, French and American nationalities. They bridge seas through poetry and cultural anthropology, investigating migration paths and experiences of liminality. Jo has worked with indigenous leaders in Colombia, left stray feathers in Berlin and stalked the streets of Dublin as a vampire.

Their stage performances combine poetry, physical theatre and drag in order to celebrate the queer and the unknowable in each of us.

I first got to see them preform opening at the αnnie ∧ the ωitness headline show in the Bello Bar and immediately thought to myself that I'd never seen a spoken word poetry show like it - They put on a performance that you just have to see and hear!

I'll be chatting to them about how they got into poetry, their costumes, their characters (which includes the cryptid Mothman the fact I'm genuinely terrified of Moths), where their inspiration comes from and bunch of other topics like Sci-fi and Blackbeard the pirate!

This is a band I've had recommended to me countless times by bands around Ireland and that completely blew me away with their live performance in their first leg of Metal 2 the Masses, which got them through to the semi-finals!

I'll be chatting with the band about Metal 2 the Masses, their fantastic album 'Megatherium' that was released last year, a lil bit about the next album that they are working on, funny song titles, Alice in Chains, Tool and a a whole lot more.

If you haven't listened to their album Megatherium I would highly reccommend giving it a listen, absolutely brilliant from start to finish.

Hailing from Arklow, Co. Wicklow, david ofmg takes inspiration from a wide variety of musical sources. From emo to dream pop to shoegaze, he has crafted a sound that is both ambient, yet catchy, with a strong emotional undercurrent. The soundscapes he creates allow the listener to lose themselves within the world of the music. This is paired with vulnerable and often quite intense lyrics, dealing with issues of mental health, self reflexivity and trauma.

We're here to chat about the band's EP 'See You in a Year and a Half', released at the beginning of January as well as there sold out headline show in Sin E. The EP is absolutely brilliant and well worth checking out, we're only into February and I can still see it on end of year lists for releases.

Myself and Luke have been trying to get this episode recorded for literal months so it's fantastic to get them on just at the release of the EP.
