PARNASSUS he (not for the first time) came up against the problem of his main character dying halfway through filming, so had to come up with some crafty solutions to navigate his way around it. Problem is that the film, as inventive as it is, has a real problem (not for the first time) with women and how old they are... its a bit crook.

We started with JOHN CARTER, Tom Cruise's THE MUMMY, and here we are with 2007's THE GOLDEN COMPASS, a film which like the franchise it was meant to spawn, abruptly ends before it was supposed to.
