This Wednesday, PHI residents gathered at Phoenix School for the first in our monthly community health series — an honest conversation about living well with diabetes and high blood pressure, two conditions close to home for many of us in a neighbourhood where most residents are 60 and above.

Our guest speaker shared lessons from over 40 years of managing diabetes — not textbook theory, but the lived, practical wisdom of a neighbour who has walked the road and knows what actually works day to day.

But the evening was about more than health. It was about getting out of our houses and into the same room — putting faces to the names we see on PHI Vigil and remembering that a strong community begins with knowing your neighbour's name.
