Serial killer Aileen Wuornos had the most horrific childhood imaginable. After a childhood which consisted of abuse and abandonment, Wuornos went on a killing rampage that left at least seven men dead across Florida in 1989 and 1990. In 2002, the state of Florida executed Wuornos, making her the 10th woman to ever receive the death penalty in the United States since the 1976 reinstatement of capital punishment.

But would she have led the life she lived had she had a better childhood?

Richard Ramirez also known as the Night Stalker is regarded by many to be pure evil and he will go down in history as one of the most brutal serial killers in history!

Former detective Gil Carrillo who was one of the detectives on the case, discusses the characteristics of Richard Ramirez as well some aspects that was not covered in the Netflix documentary Night Stalker: A Hunt for a Serial killer. Detective Gil Carrillo was sworn in as a Deputy Sheriff in 1971, started the first plain clothes gang unit in East Los Angeles, and continued working gangs for several years. Detective Carrillo worked as a Homicide Investigator for 21 years where he was called upon to investigate all types of murders to include serial killings as well as officer involved shootings.

In April 2004, he was promoted to the Rank of Lieutenant, and transferred back to the Homicide Bureau where he retired from on November 30, 2009.

Richard, the son of Mercedes and Julian Ramirez, was born in El Paso, Texas on February 28, 1960. Growing up Richard was a troubled kid. A lot of this was due to his older cousin, Miguel (also known as "Mike"), who had just returned from fighting in Vietnam. Ramirez’s cousin would tell him gruesome stories and show pictures of the torture he would inflict upon Vietnamese women. Mike introduced Richard to drugs, which consequently resulted in Ramirez committing petty crimes. He also became interested in Satanism.

The first serous crime that Ramirez was involved in was the murder of his cousin’s wife. Although Mike was the one who murdered his own wife, Ramirez was at the scene of the crime and didn’t do anything to stop it. In 1977, Ramirez was sent to a juvenile detention center for a series of petty crimes. In addition, he was put on probation for marijuana possession in 1982. Soon after these two crimes, Ramirez moved to California and continued to commit crimes such as burglary and possession of cocaine, as well as a car theft charge, which resulted in a jail sentence.

On June 28, 1984, Ramirez’s committed his first murder. The 79-year-old victim was sexually assaulted, stabbed and murdered in her own home. In just one year Ramirez had murdered over a dozen people and tortured of 25 people. After many delays, in 1989, Richard Ramirez, age 29, was sentenced to the conviction of 13 murders, five attempted murders, 11 sexual assaults and 14 burglaries. Ramirez was sentenced to die in California’s gas chamber. After being sentenced he merely stated “Big deal. Death always went with the territory. See you in Disneyland.” After being on death row for more than 23 years, Ramirez died from B-cell lymphoma at age 53 on June 7, 2013.

New York Times Best Selling Author and True Crime Journalist Jillian Lauren joins the podcast to recount her experiences of interviewing Samuel Little and getting him to confess the details to all of his heinous crimes.

Samuel Little was convicted in 2014 for the murders of Linda Alford, Guadalupe Duarte Apodaca, and Audrey Nelson Everett, and in 2018 for the murder of Denise Christie Brothers. Little stated he strangled all of his victims, with the exception of two who were drowned, and was adamant he never shot or stabbed them.

I delve into the origin story story of Robert the Doll with one of his "victims" Becky Vickers, who also featured in the Documentary called The Curse of Robert the Doll. Becky goes into detail about the misfortune which she experienced after meeting the doll for the first time at the Fort East Martello Museum in Key West, Florida.

Robert the Doll's story originated in 1906, when he was gifted to a young boy named Robert Eugene Otto who resided in Key West, Florida. The stories surrounding young Otto's acquisition of the doll have varying myths, however, the young boy's love for Robert was undeniable and even carried on until his death.

Bobby Chacon, a former FBI agent, discusses serial killers, his days working the Italian mafia (Luchesse family) and the Jamaican posses. Bobby was trained in and excelled at developing and operating informants, conducting surveillance, running undercover operations, performing Title III wiretap investigations, executing high risk search and arrest warrants, assisting in grand jury presentations and testifying in federal district courts. Bobby became the FBI's leading expert in Jamaican Posses and travel to Jamaica, Canada and the UK to testify as an expert. Bobby was also a FBI Legal Instructor lecturing to other FBI Agents on 4th, 5th and 6th Amendment issues (mainly) as they related to FBI investigations.

In 1995 Bobby is selected as a part-time diver on the FBI's NY dive team. Over the next 19 years, with the help of the FBI Laboratory Bobby will establish the FBI's Underwater Forensic Program, setup and train the FBI's four regional evidence dive teams and pioneer the field of underwater crime scene investigations. In 2000 Bobby became the first full time diver in FBI history when he was selected to be the Senior Team Leader of the NY FBI dive team. During this time Bobby was a diver on the TWA Flight 800 case and led the NY Dive Team on cases such as the Anthrax searches in Virginia, the Space Shuttle crash in Texas. Bobby, working with the FBI Laboratory, established the selection, training, equipment and operational protocols for the entire FBI Underwater Search and Evidence Response Program.

In 2003 Bobby was transferred to Los Angeles but was immediately dispatched to Athens, Greece for nine months to help Greek authorities prepare for the 2004 Summer Olympics (a similar position he held at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City). In 2005 Bobby was tasked with leading a team to Baghdad, Iraq to teach counterterrorism courses to the Iraqi police and military. In 2006 Bobby again returned to Iraq, this time as part of an elite FBI dive unit requested by the Pentagon to conduct a sensitive dive operation in southern Iraq to assist US Army CID. Bobby returned to Los Angeles in late 2006 and was the full time FBI LA Senior Dive Team Leader from 2007 until his retirement from the FBI in 2014.

Today Bobby is a writer/consultant on the hit show Criminal Minds.

Becky Vickers is the author of the book The Secrets of Goatman's Bridge. We discuss the paranormal activity occuring there as well as various other haunted locations including the "Conjuring" farm house, Amityville and more!

While some bridges are inhabited by pesky creatures such trolls, the Old Alton Bridge harbors a monster of a much darker nature. The ominously named Goatman has been described by witnesses as a truly frightening sight plucked straight from a nightmare or the yellowed pages of a book of folktales. According to their reports, the Goatman stands eight feet tall, with the chest and arms of a man, the hindquarters and hooved feet of a goat, and a frightening goat’s head complete with huge curled horns and glowing eyes. Some reports describe the Goatman’s fur as a deep, fiery red, while others describe his coloring as black as night, so black you can hardly see him as he moves through the edges of the trees. 

Whenever a sighting of this ghastly figure occurs, a string of mysterious disappearances is sure to follow. Some believe the Goatman remains dormant for years at a time and awakes only to hunt for prey. Other legends circulating about the demon focus on his name. 

According to legend, those who dare speak the Goatman’s name while crossing his bridge unwittingly summon his spirit. While the Goatman is said to sleep beneath the Old Alton during the day, he habitually creeps out from under it to hunt for food at night, returning only at the sound of his name. If his name is uttered during the day, he is awakened and is often even more vicious due to the disruption of his sleep cycle, or so the story goes. 

Legend further holds that the Goatman’s Bridge provides a gateway into Hell. Visitors crossing the bridge at exactly three a.m. have reported horrific visions of fire and brimstone; those fortunate enough to return, that is.

Thirty miles outside of New York City, nestled in the Long Island town of Amityville, stands the house forever linked to the Amityville Horror phenomenon. On November 13, 1974, the estate was the scene of mass murder. Using a .35 Marlin rifle, 23-year-old Ronald J. DeFeo Jr. murdered his entire family while they were asleep, which included his parents and four siblings.

Thirteen months later, the Lutz family purchased the home at a drastically reduced price of $80,000 (due to the murders) but only lasted 28 days before leaving it. Their spine-tingling tales of paranormal activity are what propelled the legend of the Amityville Horror and spawned a torrent of books, documentaries and films.
