Hello everyone,

Thank you for joining us in this episode. It is the penultimate session in which Lindy and I offer feedback from the books we have been reading.

In the later part of the book Inner Alchemy , Reyo shares how the reader can begin to live more consciously. I was surprised by the thought of how we can begin to improve our spirituality by 'cleaning our linen' as Reyo puts it. The spiritual journey of consciousness starts with caring and being aware of how you eat, sleep and clean yourself. Reyo brings these things up, not as a way to judge yourself but how to love yourself better.

Lindy shares from the book The Language your body speaks by speaking about the importance of environment in healing. Lindy also shares the concept of the three parts of our selves ; the elemental self, the thinking self and the higher self. The book puts forward the idea that all three parts are important and none is higher than the other.

We hope you enjoy the feedback session and as always thanks for joining the conversation.

Where to find us:
@whatweeventalkinbout
whatweeventalkinbout@gmail.com

Hosted on Acast.

Aaand we’re back!

We’re on our THIRD feedback week of practising the meditations in the two energy work books that we have been reading. I’m reading Inner alchemy by Zulmo Reyo and Lindy is reading The Language your body speaks by Ellen Meredith.

However, this week I attempted a meditation on the seven rays of creation. The seven rays are seven energies that are described as the ‘building blocks of the universe.’ A different colour represents each ray and each ray has unique qualities. For example, the first ray is blue and represents the will of God so it can manifest positively as good leadership and active energy.

Lindy gave feedback on the use of sound and movement. She speaks about how we heighten the effect of practises once we know their power. She reminds us about a lovely meditation called ‘the cabinet of wonders’ that helps you move energy that might be blocked in your body.

Rays. Colours. Cabinets. Here’s another one guys.
Hi everyone- it's another feedback week.

I give feedback on practising the 'Master practise' and 'The violet Flame' from the book Inner Alchemy. These two meditations are some of the foundational exercises of Inner Alchemy. I have included these practices in my morning routine - so that's a win! I do feel calmer during and after the meditations, however, I haven't noticed any major differences in my overall life so far. But this is early days in my energy journey and I'm happy that I'm turning up.

Lindy talks about her challenge of feeling silly while practising the 'magic hands', exercises from the book The Language your body speaks. During the week, Lindy played around with using her hands to move energy through her body. Lindy admits that she felt strange doing this as she has an analytical brain! <itunes:summary>Hi everyone- it's another feedback week.

And yet, we also discussed how practising being uncomfortable even when alone, can help in self-expression and overall growing in awareness.

We hope you enjoy it guys!

Leave us a comment:
Instagram: @whatweeventalkinbout
Email: whatweeventalkinbout@gmail.com

Hosted on Acast.
Hi everyone,

Welcome to another week of feedback on the books that Lindy and I have been reading. In this episode, I talk about what I have been learning about sound from the book Inner Alchemy by Zulma Reyo.

In her book, Reyo explains the power of sound in the form of tone, mantras and words. I explain an exercise I tried that involved blending the sound of all the vowels into one word that sounded vaguely like the word Yahweh (IAOUE). The exercise made me realise the powerful effect sound has on the body- repeating this simple sound for a few moments left me feeling calm and balanced.

Lindy shares what she has been learning about movement from the book The Language your body speaks by Eden Meredith. Lindy talks about the 5 types of movement found in the body; some of which include the in/out movement such as breathing, the circulatory systems and the cycle systems such as the sleep/wake cycle. Lindy also goes on to talk about the power of breath.

We hope you enjoy it guys.

Hello everyone,

We continue to speak about the two books we have been reading on energy management and self-healing.

I focus on how we can use our physical attributes to access the spiritual. My reading for the week showed me that the physical and spiritual are so interconnected that we can use the physical to enter the spiritual.

I talk about how the physical organ of the heart is linked to our heart 'chakra' or center; by improving my physical heart health, I am improving my spiritual heart health. This was shockingly revealing to me because it made me understand that taking care of my physical vessel is a key, key aspect of spiritual growth.

Lindy focuses on using sound as a tool in energy healing because we can use sound and movement to affect our personal energy field. Lindy teaches about how energy is constantly moving and it prefers to move in a specific pattern but if there are blockages, it will find another way to move. Simple movement such as stretching has tremendous ability to shift energy in your field and improve your mood.

The physical as a doorway to the spiritual? An interesting thought.

As always, thank you everyone. Even though I have heard and know about the power of thoughts in that they affect our behaviour, my reading helped me think of thoughts as tangible things. After reading about what Reyo calls 'thoughtforms', I think of thoughts as clouds or smoke that is attached to our aura or being. This way of thinking about thoughts made me realise that my thoughts are my environment and that they are not as hidden as I thought.

Lindy shares what she has been learning about how to communicate with your body. She shares a technique to release blocked energy. By imagining your body as a cabinet, you can use breathe to open 'locked' drawers. This can help to release blocked energy.

Lindy also shares the importance of using your mind when practising energy healing. She also talks about how we can find words, symbols and movements that have personal meanings. These can be tools to help us release or change energy to achieve flow.

Thoughts, words, movement. Discipline is something I don't like because it seems so forced. I don't like the idea of forcing myself to do something. However, I can't deny the power of discipline when trying to get something done.
Discipline seems like it could be an aspect of creation.

Lindy gives feedback on how we can use the senses to tune into what our bodies are communicating. By being present in our bodies, we can start to be aware of any colours, smells, feelings or images that come to mind. As an ending to our bible series, Lindy and I briefly discuss the last book of the bible...the book of Revelations.

Its a book that's confounded many and this is partly due to its hugely symbolic language and imagery.
Covenant ( a definition ): a promise or contract.

Hi everyone! Lindy and I continue our bible series. We talk about what the word 'covenant' means and, in particular, the covenant of marriage.

The covenants or promises that God makes throughout the bible seem to be sealed by blood.
This sounds messy. But we roll with it.

We want to break down what makes up the covenant of marriage. What does it take for the agreement of marriage to be 'activated' between two people? Following the idea of the necessity of bloodshed in order to seal a covenant, Lindy and I discuss the idea that sex could activate the marriage covenant.

Sometimes we only look at the external side of marriage. The word marriage is synonymous with the words, dress, ring, bridesmaid, wedding venue. But what is marriage really? If it's an agreement between two people then is all the rest of it really necessary? Do we need the venue? Do we need the priest? Isn't the act of promise-making just a simple thing?

We hope you enjoy it... and thank you for joining the conversation.

Where you can find us:
Our email: whatweeventalkinbout@gmail.com
Our Instagram: @whatweeventalkinbout

Hosted on Acast.
Divination (a definition): using supernatural ways to get knowledge of the future or the unknown.

Hello everyone! Today we're talking about divination. It's a strange topic but it fits in with our interest in the supernatural. Lindy and I are testing our interest in the supernatural by exploring what the bible says on the matter.

Divination is linked to the supernatural world that exists outside of religion. In this way, supernatural practises such as divination are taboo in the religious world.

When reading scriptures that condemn divination in the bible, it seems that the problem comes down to the idea that there are many sources of knowledge in the supernatural world. People have looked for knowledge from the supernatural realm for thousands of years. When reading the old testament, it is clear to see that God takes the time to show the nation of Israel how to live in a a good, life-affirming way. God takes care of his people and wants the best for them.

In taking care of the people, God tells them not to look to fortune tellers and other gods for answers. God gives them prophets, as a way to guide and give knowledge to the people. God does this so that they don't feel like they have to look somewhere else for answers.

This is a challenge for me because I like the idea of being free to explore the supernatural in a way that encourages spiritual growth. Reading the bible and understanding why God would want his people to stay away from diviners, challenges me to ask myself if looking towards God for supernatural guidance is enough. I always say God is enough. But in reality, I find myself wanting to have God's word and other things too. But God is the creator of the whole world. Beginning and end. Of course he knows everything.

It's a good one. We hope you enjoy it and as always- thankyou for joining the conversation.
Find us at:
Email: whatweeventalkinbout@gmail.com
Instagram: @whatweeventalkinbout

Hosted on Acast.
Grace ( a definition ): The unmerited favor of God.

Hello, hello. Today, Lindy and I discuss grace. This is a super topic for Lindy, who has been learning about the importance of giving grace or space to others. I think that the concept of forgiving people, showing them kindness that they don't 'deserve' is really important.

The gift of forgiveness and kindness is the antidote for judgement. In today's western world, people are expected to always speak and act correctly. But we're human. We make mistakes. Maybe if we give each other a little ( or a lot of ) grace, we would see that the way to a better world is through loving people even if you don't agree with what they said.

Grace. It's a gift. It's a calling. We hope you enjoy it! It’s term that's so commonly used in the Christian faith, that it can be easy to generalise or assume it has one single meaning. Lindy and I ask ourselves how do people define the gospel? And more importantly, how do we define the gospel?

Lindy and I talk about how our early understanding of the gospel narrative was based on the belief that a man called Jesus died so that we would be free from spiritual death.

Going further, we talk about how our understanding has evolved over the years. We discuss how the gospel of the bible is the understanding that we are free from anything that limits us and that includes ideas of identity.

The gospel can be seen as a story about a God who loved humanity and wanted to hold us close; it's about knowing who God is and how much he loves us. Perhaps the gospel is a revelation of love.

It’s a little bit of a long one but...we hope you enjoy it.

Feel free to drop a message @ whatweeventalkinbout@gmail.com

Hosted on Acast.
Hi guys!

We're talking about the Deep and the Shallow in life...as if we don't already do this weekly. But Lindy and I end up asking ourselves what the true essence of life is.

What makes life meaningful?

We settle on the idea that having true interactions with others is what life is about. The world- especially the capitalist world- seems to revolve around the capitalist goal of money gain. Going to work might seem shallow but if we interact with the people we meet as if they are people and not 'colleagues', then maybe we can have truer interactions.

As well as truly seeing others, we can try and truly see ourselves. This might look like meditation or self-awareness practices but Lindy and I talk about how we can practise being aware of ourselves of ourselves moment by moment. In this way, the ordinary moment becomes something deeper, something filled with meaning.

I hope you enjoy it.
Hi all :-)

Today Lindy and I are thinking about the idea that high pressure or tension is needed in order for something to be created. This goes back to the Big-Bang and creation stories in Genesis and other writings.

A high-pressure environment preceded the Big-Bang. The pressure of the elements swirled and in their motion created stars, planets, galaxy. In creation myths, the elements of chaos and/or darkness show that a condensed environment comes before creation.

In my work as a writer, I know that stories gain momentum when the characters are made to feel the pressures of time and space. In our own lives, we know that things get done when we have the time-constraint of a deadline. We also know that people tend to create fast or well when something bad has happened to them. This idea of pressure being an ingredient for creation has me asking Lindy: Is there a way to create without some type of pain or pressure? Or is this fate inescapable for a creator?

AAaaah. I hope you enjoy it. As always thank you for joining the conversation. :-)
Find us at : whatweeventalkinbout@gmail.com

Hosted on Acast.

Hi everyone :-)

In this one, Lindy and I remind ourselves of the importance of creation myths, as they give us a picture of how we can create our lives. A myth discussed in this episode is a version of the Egyptian creation myth that begins with darkness. Light is then created because of the spoken word- it is this light that makes the god Ra become aware of himself.

We discuss the idea of knowing who you are; the importance of living life consciously. As I talk about how easy it is to live unconsciously, I’m challenged by Lindy’s reminder that we are always making choices that influence our lives.

Both cultural and biblical creation stories talk about the spoken word being an essential part of creation. Lindy and I talk our experiences of the importance of using words to create our lives just as the gods used myths to create. Most importantly we talk about the idea that we, like the ancient Egyptian God Ra and the Tahitian God Tangora, are Gods that need the power of the word and the light of consciousness in order to become who we are. Gods.

We hope you enjoy it guys.

Feel free to drop a message @ whatweeventalkinbout@gmail.com

Hosted on Acast.

Hello All :-)

Myth (A definition): a story that use cultural symbols to explain natural phenomena and/or express a truth about the world.

As a writer, as a reader - I love myths. Today, Lindy and I get to talk about them :-) We explore the similarities that we found when reading creation myths from Polynesia, Ancient Egyptia, India and the Zulu creation myth.

I was initially fascinated with this subject when I stumbled on the story of the Polynesian god Tangaroa, who in one version of myth, gains consciousness in a dark void. After becoming aware of himself Tangaroa breaks out of the shell of his existence and creates the world using parts of himself and the shell. He creates all the gods and goddesses from within himself.

This myth reminded me of a type of meditation that focuses on becoming aware of the void of creation or the quantum field (depending on who you’re listening to!). This type of meditation calls us to become aware of the creative source that is the origin of everything. It can be imagined as a place of darkness but full of potential.

Tangaroa sits in darkness. It is only until he becomes aware of himself to realise that he is in a shell that he is able to break free and use his creative power. Isn’t this what we do when we practise consciousness techniques such as meditation? Are creation gods like Tangaroa, pictures of us? Are they an example of the explosive, life-giving power that is inside of all us? Do we just need to wake up?

It’s something I ‘ve heard and seen before from different sources, but looking at gods and goddesses, not simply as imaginative constructs but as symbols of who we really are is a challenge to step out of my comfort zone and create something by calling it forth from myself.

Hey- I hope you enjoy the talk and as always thank you for joining the conversation!

Feel free to drop a message @ whatweeventalkinbout@gmail.com

Hosted on Acast. In the physical world, things take time to happen. Our ancestors appreciated this and perhaps we don't need to go back so far...people ten years ago probably factored time into the equation a bit more than we do. Our fast world seems to be swallowing the notion of time to the point were we ask ourselves questions when we're not achieving things quick enough.

In this one, Lindy blows my ideas of time out of the water.

Hello everyone. :-)

Transit (vocabulary.com): the period of changing from one state to another.

Today, we’re talking about the idea of being in transition. We explore the changes that we are going through and have gone through. There are clear moments of change in an individual's life. However, life is always changing and ever in flux. Can we say that we are in constant transition, changing from one state to another?

Lindy shares her current process of transition in different aspects of her life. A big shift is happening in her career. The pandemic brought up questions as to whether her career path was leading her towards fulfilment and legacy. Lindy’s decision to take a career break is one of the transitions she is currently going through.

I talk about feeling as if transition is coming but I’m yet to make a decision as to what that transition will be. I talk about the weighty feeling of the life decisions I make now because I want my decisions to bring me closer to the life I want to create.

If I want to create the life I want, then how I transition is really important. It’s not about the destination – and yet it is – but it’s more about how we transition.

And yet in other times, we can’t prepare for a transition; it happens before we realise it. But even in these situations, we have the power to make decisions about how we will handle the change. And if need be, we can re-pivot our lives in a completely new direction. We can always ask ourselves weather our decisions are leading to our life, the one we want, the one we have the power to create.

That’s it for today guys!

Hello everyone and a Happy New Year! Lindy and I took a break for Christmas and we’re glad to be back. :-)

Today, we’re talking about the idea of letting go. We explore the idea of letting go of ideas and identities so that we can develop as individuals.

In this episode, we touch on the idea of home. Home can symbolise a place of permanence and familiarity. The concept of letting go asks us to leave the familiar and go into the unknown. However, this is easier said than done. How do we overcome the fear of letting go?

I discuss the idea of perhaps thinking about all the gains that are made each time you let go of something. This can be applied to any situation. What if I need to let go of a morning routine that has worked for years. I may lose hours of sleep, I may have to change my evening routine, I may lose hours of relaxation aka TV time. But the thoughts of what I’ll lose will keep me from making the change.

So...what will I gain? I may gain the time to do things that I couldn’t so while following my old routine. This could lead to other opportunities and so on. Of course, this idea of looking at the gain instead of the loss is a work in progress, it’s something we’ll have to practise. But it’s a light of hope for me. I feel like letting go of things I like is easier when I think of all the things I’ll gain as I let go.

We hope this conversation gives you food for thought and encouragement. As always, thank you for joining the conversation.

Email: whatweeventalkinbout@gmail.com

Hosted on Acast.
Today we're dipping our toes into the quantam field...

Lindy and I talk about how our perception of the world is something that we create. When we dream, our mind plays out what is in our subconscious and we perceive this as a dream. Well, what if we're still just perceiving what is in our subconscious even in our waking life? Is life a waking dream? And how do we become truly awake, so that we can perceive what is true, not what is in our minds?

We talk about how we become conscious creators through claiming authority over our lives. As we becomes conscious creators, we become aware, awake enough to see beyond the projections of our minds. Functioning from a place of awareness gives us the courage to navigate the world from a place of faith.

Perhaps this inner authority, this knowing, this faith is the light we need to see. Lindy feels that this light is 'You.' I talk about 'Christ in You' as the light that can help us navigate the world.

We're talking about Quanta. The Micro. The Macro. Faith. Sight.

We hope you enjoy it guys.

Feel free to drop any thoughts/questions at: whatweeventalkinbout@gmail.com

Hosted on Acast.
In today's episode Lindy and I talk about physical sight. We can only see 0.035 % of all the light that exists.

I ask whether we can trust our sight at all, is there is more that we can't see than what we can see. We talk about the subjective differences there is in sight, including a condition that allows for increased colour vision called tetrachromacy.

It's easy to wish for extra vision and the ability to see ultraviolet light, but if we could see all light, we wouldn't be able to appreciate darkness. For example, the night sky would be washed with light from all the stars and planets. We would see all the radiation from the technology we use. We would be bombarded by light. So maybe seeing 0.035% isn't so bad. Perhaps we don't need to see all the light there is.

We're talking about vision, information, infinity and light.

We hope you enjoy it.

Feel free to drop any thoughts/questions at: whatweeventalkinbout@gmail.com

Hosted on Acast. I define perception as a way of seeing. Lindy thinks of it as a way of interpreting or judging the world. Perception is not only what we see but it is also what we think of what we’re seeing. Perception is the way we process.

Our perception changes as our thoughts change. Lindy speaks about perception is an organic, evolving thing. As we grow in knowledge, our perception changes.

We touch on the physical aspect of perception and discuss a condition called tetrachromacy that allows for increased colour vision in women. Would seeing more colours influence your personality?

We also discuss if it is possible to really know another person’s perspective. Some of it comes from the attitudes that our parents brought from their family of origin. We love the privacy and independence that our parents have given us and yet we would love to take on a culture of more transparency into our families going forward.

Lindy and I love how our parents have taught us good virtues by example while giving us the freedom towards choosing what we want to believe. We talk about how our family of origin allowed us to express who we are as individuals and so truly help us become who we are.

Openness, transparency, privacy...family of origin. We hope you enjoy it guys. As always, thank you for joining the conversation.

Hosted on Acast.

eWe have stories about everything – stories are our understanding of how things are. We go through life with stories or statements of beliefs e.g. I am not a tidy person. We set goals for the future e.g. I will read 50 books this year. But these beliefs and goals are not set in stone. We have the power to re-focus and re-write them.

Entering the second half of the year feels like an appropriate time to re-write the hopes and dreams that we had for the year. As the year wears on, it is common to look back on our optimistic start of year goals and maybe cast them aside as failures. However, if life is organic and free-flowing then maybe our goals don’t have to be fixed and un-bending. Sometimes our goals change and evolve as we do. Re-focusing of our goals can be part of an organic growth process.

Lindy and I review our goals for the year, whilst discussing how connected we feel to those previous statements. As I talk about feeling disheartened by making similar writing goal each year, Lindy tells me that what matters is how I change my approach each time that I set the goal. Setting the same goal each year is not an act of insanity…but having the same strategy each time is! Haha.

While creating and re-creating past and future stories it helps to remember that the universe is for us. Lindy puts it this way: There are always opportunities within opportunities...within opportunities.
In this episode, Lindy and I talk about the idea of us having a pre-determined future. Here are two definitions.

Fate (a definition) : The development of events beyond a person's control, regarded as determined by a supernatural power.

Destiny (a definition): events that will happen to a person in the future.

These two definitions suggest that we have limited control over our future as it is already planned to a lesser or greater degree. This episode ensues out of the fact that Lindy has been considering how free will and destiny have played out in her life. Even though she believes that life is the outcome of choice, she hasn't been able to explain the feeling of inevitability that surrounds certain life choices. Can this feeling be called destiny?

Is the idea of personal autonomy even compatible with the idea of a universe in which we are all connected. We know that our decisions influence others just as their decisions influence us. If we are all connected through a higher intelligence, can't that higher intelligence just organize our thoughts and desires in a way that we would call free will?

We talk about the fact that reality or life is in constant flux. If reality is ever-moving then perhaps our destiny's are flexible too.

We are multi-faceted beings living in a diverse world. We have many choices. What if you can be in purpose in many places, wherever you are. Life is organic. Life gives you opportunities. You work with life through the decisions you make. Lindy likens life to an ever moving maze in which we have the power to create openings (opportunities) as we travel through it.

We can create doorways out of dead ends. Doorways out of dead ends guys....

We hope you enjoy and thank you for joining our conversation.

Hosted on Acast.

In this episode me and Lindy talk about going with the flow. We discuss the analogy of floating in the middle of the ocean, face up and just letting the waves carry you to shore. It’s so tempting to look back and around to see the shore. And if we can’t see the shore, it’s tempting to focus on other objects and people and use them as a point of reference to see how close we are to the shore.

Using others as a reference point can become tricky- what if they lead you astray? You could also lead yourself astray, if you keep looking around to work out how close you are to the shore. Are we just supposed to lay back and go with the flow?

Going with the flow allows us to be more spontaneous. Lindy presents the much-asked question: What would you do if you only had one day to live? As the more spontaneous one out of the both of us, Lindy explains how asking herself this question has helped her to live in the present and embrace life as it comes.

We talk about going with the flow as a mindset that allows us to make use of opportunities as they come. If we think of the moments of our lives as something we can’t get back, maybe it would be easier to appreciate what each moment brings.

Going with the flow doesn’t have to mean chaos as long as we have some internal navigation. If we use the right reference point then we can surrender with wisdom. Lindy says we can only surrender to the flow of life when we say ‘yes to the higher intelligence.

This leads us into conversation about personal interrogation of fundamental Christian beliefs such as Jesus ' divinity and God's existence.

Beliefs.

In this episode Lindy and I talk about living outside the box. We roughly define ‘the box’ as the parameters of who we define ourselves to be. However, does this mean that in order to step outside the box, we have to step outside of ourselves? What would such a life look like?

To be honest, this sounds akin to continuously placing yourself in uncomfortable situations. Even though I would like to think I am on a quest of self-growth (emphasis on the words ‘like to think’), I think I would be the first to pass up a life of continuous self-challenge. I mean, it sounds like continuous suffering. But the other part of me- the higher self from the future –beckons me with the words that suggest that maybe this is what life is about.

Life is about expansion. Life at its basis is unbridled and free. And we live in and move and have our being in this thing called life.

A lovely opposing view on the shifting nature of life is put forward by Lindy. She sees impermanence is a positive aspect of life. During this episode Lindy states ‘Things are how they are, when they are.’ A lovely phrase that has me putting my mental brakes on. However, this captures Lindy’s graceful acceptance of life in a way that I admire.

What if life is what it is, when it is?

I feel a weight fall off my shoulder already.

But what if we truly are a part of the current of life? Building a lasting legacy might mean something like leaving generational wealth, as this type of creation has a lasting effect, beyond the creator’s lifetime. Yet, can something as respectable as wealth really be classed as a legacy of true substance? In the end, money, as with everything man-made, will pass away.

This reminds us of Matthew 6.20 which says ‘Store your treasures in heaven, where moth and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.’

But how can strive to build eternal legacy when everything on earth is fleeting? What type of creation can be counted as an investment towards eternity?

We search for real life examples of eternal legacy and touch briefly on Abraham whose faith was his spiritual legacy lives on.

Lindy touches on the spiritual practise of prayer as a type of spiritual investment.
Our first episode saw us talking about creation. What is creation? How can we be creators in our lives?

Following some ramblings on a mini-series I watched on Gaia, we talk about our inherent nature as creators and how we create by virtue of living. We dip into the area of manifestation as a form of creation.

Lindy talks about not being limited by physical creation but instead possibly working towards manifesting spiritual aspects of ourselves. She comes up with a golden guys : 'As a creator, there is no limit to the creation!' No limits.

If we are the creator, then we have the autonomy and the power to create our lives. All in all, that's the conversation in a nut shell and as always, we hope that you enjoy the conversation. :-)

Hosted on Acast.
