Lewis Baumander is a well-established fixture in the Canadian Film +TV industry. He’s been in this industry for over 48 years working as both a successful Director and Acting Coach. If there’s anyone in this country who knows what Casting wants and has a quantifiable and verifiable way to transmit this knowledge to actors, it is Lewis Baumander.

Lewis is the owner of LB Acting Studio and sister studio Casting Central where Casting Directors such as RDC, Forrest and Forrest, Buchan Knight, Lewis Kay Casting and Gloria Mann have come to rely on Lewis and the studio to attend to their Casting needs.

Lewis and his team have successfully moved LB Acting Studio and Casting Central onto the virtual space. Casting Central has designed the go-to system for these high-level Casting Directors. If you have received instructions for a virtual audition from any of the above, then know that Lewis has had a hand in writing them. Casting Central has conducted hundreds of hours of virtual auditions since March 2020. No one else in the country has that kind of “in the Virtual Audition Room” insight.

Lewis founded the LB Acting Studio where he teaches weekly group classes and coaches actors individually daily. He is a go-to coach for Canada’s top tier talent agencies including Noble Caplan Abrams, AMI, OAZ, and many others. He has conducted workshops for numerous ACTRA conferences and maintains an active relationship with the Association.

He has been an On-Set Acting Coach (Scary Stories, Titans, Degrassi and The Strain), amongst the highlights and currently two series for which he has signed NDA’s. At Second City, he wrote and performed in three mainstage revues, including the Dora-nominated and Canadian Comedy Award-winning Sixteen Scandals. As an improvisor he has travelled the world, teaching and performing at festivals in exotic places like Cape Town, Copenhagen, Detroit, London, Barcelona, Athens, Hamburg, and Dublin. In 2019 his sketch troupe, the Lusty Mannequins, performed to sold out audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. (Okay, there were only two sold out audiences, but there were still lots of people at all the shows, he swears.) He also writes short stories, some of which can be found in print and online at various fun magazines. He lives in Toronto with his wife, Ashley, and dog, Toby, and he is currently patiently awaiting June, when the peonies bloom, which he considers to be the nicest time of year. In the comedy world, I was the inaugural comedy programmer for Canada’s Stratford Festival, programming a diverse roster of international talent for the Festival’s first-ever stand-up comedy showcase, prior to the season’s cancellation due to the pandemic. Previously, for the Just For Laughs comedy festival, I programmed events, shows, and screenings, including the first Just For Laughs Film Festival; organized an all-star comedy fundraiser; and produced a short film competition and digital stand-up series in collaboration with Lionsgate and Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud Network. My long association with the legendary Air Farce sketch comedy troupe lasted over 15 years, from the weekly series to the annual New Year’s Eve specials that regularly ranked as CBC’s highest-rated comedy show. I am an Honours B.A. graduate with Distinction from the University of Toronto, where I produced and directed shows for the historic U.C. Jen is best known for her acting role as Modwenna in 'Martyrs - The Chronicles of The Blood’ and her cake business Sweet Treats By Jen. Jen also ran a second company for 5 years teaching marketing online.

She spent her school years participating in the arts (plays, musicals, bands, choirs and drama club) and sports and dreamed of becoming a doctor. Specifically a neo-natal surgeon. She did a 180 at the age of 20 after a cake decorating hobby started to take off as a business and she opened her first business at the age of 20. She became a Certified Sugar Artist and Pastry Chef.

From that business she learned so much about marketing that she opened a second online business teaching marketing at the age of 26. Jen was no stranger to TV as she had a monthly teaching segment on Rogers Daytime TV for her cake business for over a year and was even offered her own TV show for her cake project the "Smile Project".

Remembering her love for the arts she started enrolling in acting classes in August 2018 and landed her first lead role in January 2019.

Hosted on Acast.
