He tells me how growing up, his parents did not support his dreams. When he wanted to try comedy, they said no. When he tried drawing, they said no. Even when he turned to boxing, they said no again. Every talent he introduced to his family, they dismissed. But he kept fighting, he kept going.

He says he was not great in school either, and sometimes it felt like he was just trying and failing. And then he lost his mom, and that moment changed everything. He says he had to leave the house, to find his own path, to survive.

When I ask about his marriage, he tells me it is because he had no mother, and his wife stepped into that space for him. She has always been there, supportive and strong. He says she is the only one who can truly handle him.

She tells me about growing up in a compound with over a hundred people.

About washing toilets and bathrooms for money.

About selling kunu and zobo just to get by.

She played for FC Robo in Nigeria for 10 years without a salary.

And then, at 17, she left for Norway.

Hermes lives in a polyamorous relationship with two women in different parts of the world. One of them, Blessing, has been with him for three years and chooses not to date anyone else. The other is in Germany. All three are aware of each other. They’ve had conversations together, not just about love but about how to make it all work.

Tomisin tells me she sees people in polyamorous relationships and wonders how they manage it. She believes it takes a lot of time, effort, and emotional maturity.

Hermes’ girlfriend tells me there is no such thing as forever with one person, at least not in the way we have been taught to expect it. Edwin adds that, growing up, he saw many women with boyfriends and sugar daddies who knew their roles in each other’s lives.

reason, he watched his father being slapped by touts right in front of him in the uncompleted building where they lived, as the man tried to navigate debilitating poverty with dignity and grace, and he survived multiple moments when his life could have been destroyed.

Yet, Hermes Iyele is that rare human being who has looked deeply into the nature of

life and being, and in the midst of hardship and broken dreams, found beauty and joy still.

But before the millions of views and the hosting gigs, he was just a young man trying to find his way.

In 2020, he sent a message asking to intern on this show.

He had just lost his radio job, couldn’t find another, and was battling depression.

He tried PR, PA work, even started selling okrika. Business was just picking up, then COVID hit. And it all came crashing down again.

It was in the middle of that silence, that stillness, that he picked up his phone… and started playing on TikTok.

Just five years ago, after 13 years professionally as a singer and 3 years after he got a word from God, Gaise Baba wanted to quit music. He went to his mentor and said “I can’t do this anymore like this, I am going to get a corporate job”. 

Then God found a way to reach him. God sent his incredibly supportive wife of about a decade, — Funto to tell him “No, you have to keep going”.

Last year, the prophecies began to come left, right and center that an explosion was coming for him - but by then he had already learnt not to doubt God’s word for his life.

He opens up about how finding work back then was an extreme sport. “I did a lot of ‘waka pass’ roles,” he says, laughing. But the grind was real and the rejection was even more real.

This is a 19-year-old talking.

It’s the Afrobeats star, Khaid - who was signed by content creator, Sidney Talker in 2022.

For the first time ever, he speaks (even if with a lot of fear) about the gang war in his hood that almost killed him last year and left him in the hospital for a long time after life-threatening internal bleeding.

Those dramatic photos in the hospital weren’t a stunt. It wasn’t content. This young man - one of fastest rising music stars in the country today - almost died.

Khaid’s life has been shaped by pain, tension, and then deep reflection. He tells me first about life as a mechanic and how he quit that job due to hints of intimate abuse from his mentor. He talks about his battle against depression.

And then for the first time ever, he opens up about the conflicts he’s faced in the hood, even showing me the scars.

He recounts the harrowing moment—being hospitalized while someone broke into his car downstairs. For his safety, he had to continue his treatment at home. But Khaid tells me he’s not afraid of death, and that his new faith (he left Islam for Christianity a few years ago) assures him of a full life.

I ask him, if his life continues to be in danger - why does he continue to visit the hood that makes it so? Why can’t he leave his old life behind with all the money and fame he has accomplished?

You have to watch to understand why this brilliant, talented young man - one of the deepest, wisest teenagers I ever sat with - is haunted by the ghosts of his past.

I spoke with one of Nollywood’s most critically acclaimed producers—known for hits like Mirror Boy, Last Flight to Abuja, and Badamasi—about Nigerian’s former head of state Ibrahim Babangida, and he insists Babangida is a good man.

Born in 1985 when IBB took over office, I’ve long held a grudge against Babangida, the man who annulled Nigeria’s most peaceful election, “democratized corruption” and ordered the killing of his best friend. 

And why own up to his biggest mistakes now?

This year, I am finally saying yes and sharing a part of my story. The part I think the world needs to hear today.

When my show hit its stride, I stopped saying yes to interviews because I wanted to focus on listening, on hearing, on being a channel for others. I wanted to have something significant to say to the world before speaking again.

I believe that time has come.

The fear of Opeyemi Famakin is the beginning of wisdom for chefs, restaurants, food bloggers and content creators everywhere.

That’s what the man who trained Lateef Adedimeji in the Yoruba movie industry told him after his training.

Today, on our show, Lateef has a message for that man, who is still alive and still in the industry.

He face; that same lack of faith for his viral Lisabi movie. Lateef says all the people whopromised to support him, the ones he actually expected to support him, all abandoned him.

“There was nobody.”

But his wife Mobimpe stood by him like a rock.

Blaqbonez (Emeka Akumefule) is one of Nigeria’s brightest rappers and he has often been called controversial. But this interview we see a side we have never seen before, as this ‘hard guy’ gets vulnerable and open hearted.

We start from his dad who simply disappeared from the house while he was young and hasn’t apologised or explained since then.

He tells me about how his mother survived the stigma of being a single parent, and worked a maid to help him get a good life. 

He says he has forgiven his father, but then 

he sees that influence from his in his life - breaking up a relationship despite being in love because he doesn’t think he can be monogamous and he didn’t want to ruin the perfect life of his girlfriend.  

That influence also scares him from making any woman pregnant - making his take extreme measures to avoid that. 

Underneath all it is in an introverted, thoughtful, sensitive young man who wants to avoid the mistake of his parents, build a life of happiness was and make those around him happy if he can.

Laju says she is a fan of our work here at #WithChude, but I told her I am a bigger fan of hers. She is a pioneer - pushing the boundaries of gospel content from Nigeria. Her films have been on Amazon Prime, she has built a solid community on YouTube, and she has built a powerful technology-driven independent distributor for her films, making tens of millions in the process. 

This is a woman fully aware of her place and power in the world today.

We talk about how she and her husband have built their marriage - struggling with how to communicate at first, but learning how to do it. She says her husband may not be the kind that does her breakfast in the morning, but he is her biggest champion.

She tells me practically how she manages her work as a filmmaker, her calling as a pastor (and a pastor’s wife) and the not-small task of raising four children. She says - do not be deceived, she gets a lot of help. Her honesty is striking. 

She tells me how she learnt to separate God’s word from her own peculiar experiences - the first cannot be moved, but the second depends on your life and circumstances and should not be imposed on others. 

I ask for her response to those who accuse them of running a business while being pastors, I ask her if they have any regrets for the times they have ‘clapped back’ at critics on social media and we talk about “the darkness in the world today.”

She shared the exclusive videos to the blogs that went viral and called the attention of the public to the plight of her friend. 

For the first time ever, she tells me the story of what she saw and experienced on that terrible day. 

She says she saw Bimbo after she was set on fire and then she drove Bimbo - with her body incinerated - from her home to four hospitals across Lagos, begging for them to accept her. They all rejected her until the Gbagada Hospital finally accepted her. 

She drove for over 9 hours, she says, while the husband insisted on leaving his wife and escaping, and then threatened to assault Peace if she didn’t stop trying to help his wife. All the while, Bimbo kept begging her husband: “Please say the truth” and begging her friend: “Please don’t leave me. Please don’t let me die.”

Bimbo sadly passed a few days after - leaving behind 5 children and after 16 years of marriage to her husband. 

The case was taken to court shortly after and IK remains innocent until proven otherwise. 

But as the case finally comes up for a new hearing after more than a year of no update, Peace says there is no sign her late friend is going to get justice anytime soon. 

The story she tells is a horrible one.

But for some time, she disappeared from the mainstream and I wanted to know what exactly was going on with her. 

For her first interview in a very long time, we had one of the most wholesome conversations you will watch - about loss, self-love, and learning to be at peace with yourself even if things don’t go the way you want it. 

In between, she gives me exclusive updates about the song Super Story - the fact she didn’t sign a contract, how much she was paid, and how things were done “back then”. 

She also spoke to the persistent silly rumors about an intimate relationship between her and her mentor and collaborator, Kenny St. Best.

Ashmusy has seen hell from the media and the comment section - they have questioned her talent, questioned her source of income, questioned her wealth, questioned her morals… and just thinking about all of the attacks she has had to endure, she broke down in tears on our set. 

She had to consciously change her dress sense, she tells me, because that was one of the reasons she was being stereotyped. 

Yet Amarachi Amusi is one strong woman - and she continues to conquer. 

Yes, her father didn’t provide for them when she was a child. Yes, her mother had to endure loan sharks to take care of her children. 

Yes, Ashmusy had to borrow hair to pretend to be one of the ‘big girls’ in school, and yes she had to borrow hair to start her own business. Yes, she went for over 100 (!) auditions - including Big Brother - and was not successful in any.

But, she says, she built everything by herself. There was no sugar daddy, there was no ‘runs’, no there was no cutting corners. She pulled herself up from nothing to the multiple successful businesses she owns - and, she tells me… she is just getting started.

THEN, when she finally got a small role on Tinsel, her character was killed off, without the producers even informing her! 

In between all of this, she was robbed violently of the phone she was using to create content on YouTube - after entering a one-chance bus. And then she struggled to get roles because on the one hand she was being sexually harassed and on the other hand she was insecure about the size of her breasts. 

Then one day, everything changed. Mr Macaroni called her back, her role became constant, her social media pages grew into the millions, and this year she produced her first movie. 

She tells me the full story.

Then last year, Ufuoma McDermott was also diagnosed of Stage 3 kidney disease - after battling with it for 12 years. 

She was told to slow down at work and rest. But she thought she had more time and negotiated with her doctors. 

That delay turned out to be costly. 

She was shortly diagnosed of Stage 4 kidney disease. 

Stage 4. 

That’s the final stage. 

And she says it was a result of drug abuse - ingesting too many painkillers. 

Thus began a battle for her life, where there was zero room for error. For 6 months, she couldn’t move. She couldn’t work. She couldn’t add weight. She actually thought the end had come. 

In this exclusive interview, the actor and producer shares how she found her way back from Stage 4 kidney disease, how it changed how she lived her life, how she managed her public career while dealing with this in private, and why this life-changing experience has transformed the way she lives her life today.

He finally opens up about this in this exclusive interview. 

What caused the depression? He suddenly saw his career crater and felt he was ‘un-blowing’ while watching his colleagues grow in leaps and bounds. 

It’s a familiar story, isn’t it?

One day his mother finally had enough, and he tells me what she did that finally made him find a way out of depression. It’s also the reason his mother started making skits. It’s such a beautiful story, to hear him tell it. 

Then he tells me about that time an anonymous person came online to accuse him of abuse and then disappeared, leaving him panicked and having to defend himself. He also learnt that not everyone who likes his posts wishes him well. 

Then we talk about having his first child with his wife while navigating the #EndSARs protests - and for the first time, he opens up on what exactly he apologised to his wife last year. He says he was “tested as a man and he failed the test woefully.”

What did we not talk about? 

I think I now have a mind-crush on Oluwadolarz - because this conversation was so honest, so real, vulnerable, inspiring and magical all at once. 

I try never to stereotype, but I honestly was not ready for this level of depth.

Many years ago, I received another invitation to join the government in Nigeria at the highest levels, and I called my second mother, Obiageli Ezekwesili. I said, ‘Aunty, he’s putting me under pressure; he wants me to join this government’. 

So she asked me a question: “In your deepest of hearts, do you think that you could truly make a difference in that position at this time and will it give you joy?”

I thank God she framed the question like that because it became very easy for me to answer. I said no. 

Ali Baba says when Obasanjo wanted him to be a minister at the time, he didn't do the things that they asked him to do “because he knows himself.”

Sometimes, people ask me, why don’t I join the government? I say it’s not, because of some moral superiority because government needs to be joined. We need people to join government, we need politicians, we need public servants but one must look at one’s self and say: is that the environment in which I would most thrive?

Can I wake up every morning and still keep my Soul and Spirit in this position?

Will I get joy from doing this?

Will I feel a deep sense of satisfaction doing this thing no matter how much it will ‘change my life’?

Many people have gotten into positions that have robbed them of their integrity their soul’s purpose, of what makes them special. 

And most times it’s because we feel that every opportunity that comes we must grab, that every road or door that opens that we must enter. 

We need the presence of mind and self-awareness to know what is for us and what isn’t for us - and to stay in our most authentic truth.

And then, many years later, he confronted the worst business decision he ever made - he invested N25,000,000 in a movie, the movie was pirated and he only made N800,000 

For the first time ever, he reveals that - already a celebrity - he was penniless and homeless. 

So, his mother asked him to come back to Nigeria and to visit her in Lagos Island - where she had some of the pirated copies. 

Then she said to him: “Do you remember when you were lifeless, and nobody thought you were coming back to us and I stayed with you and I nursed you and you came back and you lived? If you could survive that, you would survive this.” 

He learnt that life can be breathed into any situation.
