Hello everyone! Welcome to West Virginia Uncommonplace. Today, I have an exciting announcement to make regarding some changes to the podcast. Normally, we focus on archival episodes, but starting in August, specifically the third week of August, we will be introducing a new segment called "Life Coach Shows" on Wednesdays. I'd like to express my gratitude to all the listeners who have been tuning in to this podcast. We don't actively promote it, as it serves as an archival resource for people to easily find and enjoy episodes from West Virginia Uncommonplace without searching extensively.

When selecting episodes to feature, we consider various factors, primarily the popularity of the show in the past and its current download statistics. If a previously popular episode isn't receiving as many downloads, we bring it over to introduce it to a new audience. Going forward, the Life Coach shows will have their own dedicated space on the podcast. Although I love having them on West Virginia Uncommonplace, I've found that after doing a podcast for a long time, certain material can become stagnant. To combat this, we need to be creative and reintroduce our content.

We are also in the process of rebranding the podcast name from "West Virginia Uncommonplace Presents A Collection." We haven't settled on a new name just yet, but stay tuned as we'll announce it soon. In addition to the Life Coach shows, there will be other curated content available on the podcast. However, you can still expect to find the usual archival episodes as well.

To avoid overwhelming our listeners with an excess of West Virginia Uncommonplace content, we'll aim to release the Life Coach shows twice a month. This way, you'll have the opportunity to explore different shows and not feel inundated with our content. I understand that when you listen to something, you want variety and the chance to discover new podcasts.

A few years ago, the stylistic and polarizing director, Michael Bay, released a film on the big screen starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne The Rock Johnson called Pain and Gain. The movie, based on a true story, is a dramatic—albeit loose—retelling of the exploits of The Sun Gym Gang in Florida in the 1990s. That particular gang was a group of body builders, who went down a path of outrageousness, barely believable hijinks, mischief, and activities outside of the law. Their actions did little to contradict the stereotypes Florida has regarding the behaviours of its residents. After reading Take it Off, the first thing that comes to my mind is that Pain and Gain hit closer to home for more people than we might realize; Corey Hilton’s life could place itself right in with those characters like a perfectly fit bow tie. I have known Corey for more than a decade, and I must begin by telling you that no matter what thoughts might come into your mind while reading this nearly unbelievable autobiographical tale of Corey’s colorful life, this is a true story that is not embellished. But, please don’t get me wrong, I am not just talking about the scandalous, delicious moments that Corey experienced in the years he spent—beginning well before he was legal—in the exotic entertainment field. The other true story in this volume is about a man who ultimately wants to help people, impact their lives, and desperately, almost obsessively, desires to lift others to personal clarity, causing them to take action and make decisions to improve their lives. Corey’s past vocation came up the very first day I met him. Not being exposed—no pun intended—to such things, I instantly had MANY questions, intriguing questions I think most people would have, encountering someone with such an exotic past.

My dad is a firefighter and my mom grew up on a farm. I have family members that were war heroes and others that were lifelong criminals. On my quest for cryptids and consciousness, I believe I may be perceived as both. All movies are based on true events in one form or another. As humans, we can't make anything up. The only thing to never exist is COINCIDENCE. Elves in Middle Earth, Vampires vs Werewolves, Jack and the Bean Stalk are all based in reality according to my research! I enjoy the visual trip and the ride of the mind when I watch movies. I've been lucky enough to appear in multiple movies and act in few plays and musicals. Psychedelics and cinema channels communication with the deities above. Through my adventures and days, I always knew there was more to this world. I was fascinated by graveyards but hospitalized by nightmares. I was intrigued to sasquatch but knew he could rip me to shreds. I made fun of my mom for being scared of Jaws but I was anticipating him every time I swam in Lake Erie. I am a walking oxymoron but I think I'm onto something. I believe in a lot of things but mostly believe in people. I will take the word of my fellow brethren before any institution. I respect my elders but have a problem with abusive authority. I think people deserve the truth but I know they can't handle the truth. Many things I have discovered create a heavy burden. But I rather know and adapt than have to be in the dark and react. Without the facts, we are at risk. But the fact of the matter is, life is a risk. Take a gamble but do everything in your power to make sure you succeed. My name is Heather Szasz and I have over 12 years of professional dog training experience, as well as experience as a life coach for a world-wide company. Having extensive experience in both dog training and life coaching has given me a unique outlook and ability to be very successful with working with dog owners and the behavior issues with their dogs. I started my career as a dog trainer 30 years ago in England when I was the owner of my first puppy--an airedale terrier named Sharka. I trained with Geoff Grinham, the author of the book Dog Training and Behavior. You will find many pictures of Sharka and myself in Geoff Grinham's book. However, please remember that was 30 years ago, so I do look a bit different today! Life took a left turn, as I ended up in Florida for 22 years. I had not been certified as a dog trainer in England, so I chose to begin a residential house cleaning business. After a few years, I sold the my cleaning business and said to myself, "What do I really want to do?" My answer was that I really want to be a certified Professional Dog Trainer, so I went to the Animal Behavior College and graduated! For the last 12 years, I have worked with many one-on-one clients, taught agility classes for fun, and mentored students from the Animal Behavior College. I have worked with rescues, volunteered for nine years, and spent the last two of those years as a trainer in a prisoner/shelter dog program. In total, we have trained and adopted 75 dogs! My focus now is on coaching owners in how to influence their dog in a positive way through transforming our anxiety and negativity which our dogs are living with on a daily basis. As a Queer woman in NYC, I have always been a bit different. I understand the battle of having been a “good girl” and “people-pleaser” and also a rebel at the same time. I pierced my nose for the first time at age 17. I have run the spectrum and full range of reactions in order to be able to teach it now. I no longer parent my parents, but I have stepped into being a daughter with them. I help others identify the root of their patterns from family life and how these patterns may be showing up in love & partnership and in work. In the Fall of 2016 I was introduced to a person that would show me all about my own codependency issues in relationship and start to understand the human magnet syndrome. It was an initiation. I launched a PR company for pet product manufacturers back in 2007 called Whitegate PR and was a guest on TV stations across the country from NBC to CBS to ABC to Fox as “The Pet Lady”TM. I received my BS from San Diego State University in Public Relations and Political Science. After working for Muttropolis in southern california and then moving to New York City in 2008 I have been a professor at Baruch College and FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology). I have studied bikram yoga, meditation, participated in vipassana silent retreats, I have studied Latihan at the Subud Center along with many religions, spirituality, plant medicine and pets. I have also completed the NYC marathon, NYC triathlon and a 70.3 Ironman. I was born in Canada, raised in London England and grew up in Northern California. I identify as a global citizen and currently reside in Rockaway Park, on the beach in Queens in NYC. Dealing With Addiction When It Is Your Child pt 1

I’m a Certified Life Coach & mother of a child who struggles with addiction.

I’ve been right where you are.

My child’s addiction shined a spotlight on every vulnerability and weakness I had as a mom and prayed on them so it could grow.

Nothing I tried to help my child worked . I was like a dog chasing her tail. I got nowhere but exhausted and hopeless.

I truly wanted to help my child and stop the chaos! In a final act of desperation I signed up to work with a life coach even though I had no idea how it could help.

My life quickly started to change:

The fog of overwhelm & confusion started to lift.
My relationship with my child started improving
I knew what to do to help and support my child
I started experiencing happiness again

The skills I learned had such a profound impact on my life and my relationship with my child that I wanted to share them with as many parents as possible.

In addition to my 20 years experience in the recovery community, I spent one year in a challenging and in-depth Life Coach certification program. Then I spent 2 years working with clients developing my unique and effective approach. I’ve been blessed to see so many parents experience life changing results while working with me.
