Episode 13: Machine Gun Kelly - Don't Shoot, G-Men!

Machine Gun Kelly might be a pop-punk and rapper in the 21st century, but during the 1930s, another man donned this pseudonym. During the 1930s, or ‘dirty-thirties,’ if I may, George Kelly Francis Barnes jr was the man behind the Machine Gun Kelly moniker. Today, he is remembered and referenced as a gangster and kidnapper, active during Prohibition and the beginnings of the Great Depression. Alongside names like Charles “Pretty Boy” Floyd, “Baby Face” Nelson, and Bonnie [Parker] and Clyde [Barrow], Machine Gun Kelly is remembered as one of the criminals making waves in the midwestern United States during the dirty thirties.

Was Machine Gun Kelly really the original gangster, or has time twisted this tail into more than it ever was? This week, Dillan dives into an oldie, but a goodie.

Episode 11: Unsolved - The Murder of Jeannette DePalma

What do you get when you have accusations of witches, but take them out of Salem? As far as the DePalma family is concerned, you’ve got a murder, or murderers.

In New Jersey, on September 19th, 1972, a 16-year old high school student was found dead. Although officials believe that she may have been killed by strangulation, speculation still exists as this case remains unsolved, 50 years later.

This week, Dillan dives into this 50 year old cold case, and reviews what little is known surrounding the murder of 16-year-old Jeannette DePalma.

Episode 9: David Russell Williams

Former Colonel David Russell “Russ” Williams was a decorated air force pilot, serving in the Canadian Armed forces. On February 8th, his arrest sent a shock through Canada that would continue to be felt for years to come.

This week, Dillan dives into one of Canada’s worst offenders, David Russell Williams, and the crimes he committed while serving as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. David Russell was convicted in 2010 of the murders of Corporal Marie-France Cameau, and Jessica Lloyd, one count of forced imprisonment, as well as two sexual assaults, and a multitude of break and enters.

And don’t worry, Dillan will be sure to reconsider her scale of "Grim"

Episode 7: Cold Case SOLVED - the murders of Susan Tice and Erin Gilmour

In 1983, the sexual assaults and murders of Susan Tice and Erin Gilmour went cold, with few leads in the case. DNA evidence was taken from both deceased victims, but at the time science wasn’t advanced enough to determine much more than a blood type from the sample.

Recently, there has been a surge of cold cases being solved due to the popularity of ancestry sites, which collect and store the genetic material and profiles of people from all over the world. Using this available data, police and investigators have been able to solve a number of Cold Cases; and on November 28th, 2022, Toronto Police were able to announce that a Cold Case from 1983, the murders of Susan Tice and Erin Gilmour, have finally found and arrested their mystery murderer man - Joseph George Sutherland, 61-years of age.

Kiki and Dillan are diving in head first, and kicking off their new Podcast with Daniel LePlante, known as "the boy in the walls." Though Daniel is best known for his time in the walls, this wasn't his only act of violence and horror. Follow along with Yikes, That's Grim's maiden voyage into Podcasting, and listen as their audio improves.

Kiki is a therapist from Massachusetts, and Dillan is a retired Dental Hygienist (now office worker), and together they aim to explore all the true crime and spooks that they can. Kiki will be diving into the haunts, horrors, myths, and mischief. Dillan will be focusing on true crimes and events throughout history - exploring all the horror that humans can cause.
