Is Barbie a generational icon?

We are BACK after a little hiatus for a brand new episode! A little break was much needed but we really missed recording! Much like many people, I watched the trailer for the new Barbie film set to release in July and became so excited to watch the film. This got me thinking about Barbie as a character, as a person of influence on young girls growing up and how she has shaped how women view themselves and other women. I posed the question; is Barbie a feminist icon? Whilst Hannah and myself have similar opinions on things 99% of the time, it was so interesting to reveal that Barbie was going to be the person to make us disagree! What are your thoughts? Did Barbie, or Ken, or Action-man have a role to play in your life aspirations as a child, or did it not have an impact? It was really fun to reminisce on some favourite childhood memories and toys Hannah and I shared, so listen to hear our 2010 karaoke outbreak and share your opinions on Miss Barbie.

Everything we know about friendship

Happy Friday lovely friends! This week, myself and Hannah offer our reflections on friendships. This is a topic I find myself spending a lot of time thinking about. Your 20's can be a tumultuos time in general for many people, and one aspect of this that comes into play time and time again is the sometimes transient nature of friendships. Some friendships are for a reason, and some friendships are for a season, right? That being said, the beauty of friendship is too often lost and overlooked, but this week we wanted to bring it right back in the centre of things and celebrate the joys of human platonic connection and all it has to offer. What is one value you hold most dearly in friendship?

Our renting horrors & the property ladder in the cost of living crisis

What better time than in the middle of a cost of living crisis to break down all our sob stories about city life and renting? As 2 people who have both had their fair share of renting horrors, this week Hannah and I thought it would be appropriate to divulge some of our renting nightmares as 2 mid-Twenties gals. As always, there is a classic 'MC moment' story, Hannah's unfortunate landlord amongst many other things. We also spoke about what it means to own property in the UK, and how this gains leverage within classes and society, and offer our opinions on remedying this for future Young and Struggling 20 somethings. After discovering an article from The Cut weight-loss-ozempic.html about the phenomenon, we were left shocked and astounded by what we had read. We discuss what 'Ozempic' is doing, our worries surrounding this trend and the ideas it is helping to perpetuate in trends, fashion and culture in 2023. We also reminisce on some of our own mishaps in the past surrounding diet culture, and we try to find a solution to this craze going forward.
